阅读理解题型分类练(十二) 词句猜测题——句意理解类A[2022·甘肃省第二次高考诊断考试]Paparella first became aware of foster care in elementary school when her parents were considering adopting a child. The plan didn't work out, but Paparella often found herself thinking about that girl.At 16, Paparella visited Summit County Children Services in Akron, Ohio, with a list of questions, trying to understand what the life of adults looked like. One of her questions was “What do these young people need most?” At the top of the list was furniture. “That__struck__me!” says Paparella. “The idea of moving into an apartment and not having a bed to sleep on or a sofa to sit on pulled at my heartstrings.”Paparella contacted her parents' friends, asking if they had spare furniture to donate. A local furniture store, ChezDel Interiors, offered free warehouse space and its delivery truck. Social workers provided delivery. In between lacrosse games and college applications, Paparella—with her dad's help—added furniture delivery person to her résumé.Watching the receivers' faces when they receive a bed, a couch—whatever—would change her in a way. Paparella remembers delivering a gold lamp to a woman and watching her polish it lovingly, getting rid of dust and fingerprints. “To think that this lamp which hadn't been thought about in years now brought so much happiness to somebody was amazing,” Paparella says.Today, Paparella has given furniture to nearly 200 young adults across six Ohio counties. As word has gotten out, Paparella has received donations from people who have bought new furniture and want to get rid of their old pieces, people who are moved, and people who have heard of her work on social networking sites. She's convinced these contributions give the receivers hope and confidence.1.Why did Paparella visit Summit County Children Services?A.Because she considered adopting a child.B.Because she planned to take care of the children there.C.Because she wanted to know the life of grownups there.D.Because she intended to persuade her parents to help the children.2.What does the underlined sentence “That struck me” in Paragraph 2 mean?A.Moving!    B.Shocking!C.Amusing!    D.Disappointing!3.What do we know about the woman who received a gold lamp?A.She didn't like the dusty old lamp.B.She loved the gold lamp very much.C.She made little difference to Paparella.D.She owned many different lamps in the past.4.Which word can best describe Paparella's character?A.Humorous.    B.Honest.C.Imaginative.    D.Helpful.B[2022·广州市高三综合测试()]Sometimes a book comes along that isn't just “interesting” or “well done”—it's a book where it seems like the author looked into your brain and wrote a book specifically for you. A book like that for me was released last week. It's called 100 ThingsWe'veLosttotheInternet, written by editor Pamela Paul.Paul lists 100 things we used to do that the Internet has either changed or taken over completely:writing letters, printing newspapers, the joys of being bored, and not having all the knowledge in the world in your pocket. As I often accumulate random knowledge, certain entries on the list—BeingtheOnlyOne, FiguringOutWhoThatActorIshit__me__where__I__live;__remembering detailed facts is no longer nearly as impressive when everyone has the capability to find the answer in seconds. On and on the list goes, with every minor shift adding to the pile. What this book does so well is illustrate the growth of that pile; while any individual item might be no big deal, the collected set is significant. It's a list of ways in which the world now is different from the world then.Obviously, Paul isn't saying that everything back then was better. Time marches on, after all, and it's tough to argue against the many benefits that the Internet has brought into our lives. But that isn't really the point. It's not about whether it used to be better. It's that it used to be different.100 ThingsWe'reLosttotheInternet is a fun read for those of us who share some of Paul's memories and experiences. We remember what it was like and we like to remember. The landscape has shifted, and no doubt it will shift again as technology's advancement continues apace. This book serves as a reminder of the simple truth that when gains are made, sometimes something is lost.5.What is the purpose of the text?A.To review and recommend a good read.B.To comment on the effect of the Internet.C.To argue for the viewpoint of a new book.D.To urge the readers to value what they have.6.Which might be entries on Paul's list?A.MapsandEyeContact.B.EpayandCompactDisks.C.PostcardsandHomeschooling.D.PhotosandWashingMachines.7.What do the underlined words “hit me where I live” in Paragraph 3 mean?A.Prove what I'm good at.B.Introduce how I grew up.C.Describe the place I live in.D.Speak out what is on my mind.8.What conclusion has the author drawn after reading Paul's book?A.Things in the past are better.B.There're no gains without pains.C.The Internet is a doubleedged sword.D.Technology is constantly changing the world.C[2022·潍坊市高中学科核心素养测评]In recent years, there has been a rise in the volume of audiobook sales, which is easily aided by the dominance of the smartphone. Are there other contributors to the rise beyond technology? One thing is obvious: Reading even a short book involves a significant investment of time and prevents any other activity. You can't drive or garden while reading. Andy Miller, the author of TheYearofReadingDangerously, said, “I was hunting for a book to read. Kit Waal, my friend, said, ‘you should get the audiobook OldFilth; it's fantastic.' She was right. I could walk the dog and still be reading a brilliant novel, or have one read to me brilliantly. I love that book and I love that way of reading it. So I'm__a__recent__convert.Does he worry audio provides too different an experience to reading itself? “Clearly on audio you are at the mercy of the reader's skills,” he says. “But then, ego (自我) aside, the same is true of reading a book on the page. We're all at the mercy of our own skills and tastes, aren't we? But on audio you are influenced by someone else's interpretation. And you might simply dislike the voice of the reader. But at its best audio offers a complementary (互补的) experience to the actual book.”Will audiobooks distract us from the page before us? Better to focus on what we might gain. As someone who frequently interviews authors on stage, I'm aware of the unique insight into a text produced by hearing someone read their own work; I've  frequently reinterpreted a passage after such an experience. But that has had no impact on whether or not I'll read a book by a writer I will never hear reading.I once met the writer Don Delillo. In response to a question about the process of writing, he remarked that he sometimes became attracted by the shape of particular letters, by the way individual words appeared before him. He sounded hippydippy; then it made perfect sense. Reading does start with shapes, which slowly resolve to make a certain meaning, filtered through our own subjectivity and our senses. That will never change.9.What does Andy Miller mean by “I'm a recent convert” in Paragraph 2?A.He likes the reader's voice.B.He enjoys his daily routines.C.He falls in love with audiobooks.D.He is addicted to reading novels.10.What does Andy Miller think of the audiobook?A.It has a good voice.B.It limits our interpretation.C.It controls our skills and tastes.D.It misleads our interpretation.11.What is Don Delillo's attitude to reading the actual book?A.Unclear.    B.Objective.C.Opposed.    D.Favourable.12.What is the best title of the text?A.Easy Listening: the Rise of the Audiobook?B.The Audiobook—a Growing Trend in ReadingC.Slow Reading—the Decline of the Actual Book?D.A New Experience: the Appearance of Audiobooks   阅读理解题型分类练(十二)A语篇类型:记叙文 主题语境:人与社会——志愿服务——乐善好施的Paparella【语篇解读】 16岁时,去过儿童服务中心的Paparella了解到那里最需要的是家具。 根据第二段的尾句“The idea of... pulled at my heartstrings”可知,想到搬进一个没有床睡,也没有沙发坐的公寓这件事牵动着Paparella的心弦。 故选A。 故选A。7. 根据第三段中Andy Miller所说话中的“on audio you are at the mercy of the reader's skills”“But on audio you are influenced by someone else's interpretation”可知,在听有声读物时,读者被朗读者的技巧支配、会受到朗读者理解的影响,据此可以推断,有声读物可能会限制读者的理解,故B项正确。11.
