Hu Yi married a beautiful wife named Chang’e. They were in lve very well. One day, n the way t visiting his friends, Hu Yi came acrss the Heavenly Queen.
The Heavenly Queen gave him an elixir. It was said that ne culd becme fairy after taking it. Hu Yi was nt willing t leave his wife, s he tld Chang’e the whle stry and gave her the elixir t keep it.
But Peng Meng verheard what they said. Three days later, Hu Yi led all his apprentices t g hunting. Peng Meng pretended t be ill and didn’t fllw.
When Hu Yi left, Peng Meng brke int Chang’e’s rm with a swrd and frced her t hand ut the elixir. Chang’e knew she culdn’t defeat Peng Meng, s she ate the elixir.
After she swallwed it, her bdy started t lift ff the grund and she flew t the sky. Chang’e missed her husband s much that she flew t the mn which was nearest t the earth t be a fairy.
In the evening, Hu Yi went back hme and knew what had happened, feeling shcked and angry. He tk ut his swrd and decided t kill Peng Meng, but Peng Meng had already run away.
Hu Yi was desperate and shuted Chang’e’s name t the night sky. Suddenly, he fund that the mn was bright and his wife Chang’e was waggling n the mn.
Hu Yi rdered his apprentice t take ut Chang’e’s favurite fruit and dessert t shw his yearning fr his wife. Peple knew the stry and prepared delicius fd t pray fr Chang’e.
Ever since, the custm has spread quickly. The day when Chang’e flew t the mn was August 15th, s peple call it the Mid-Autumn Festival.
