Comic strip &Welcome to the unit

一、教学目标

1. 掌握本课重点词汇：British, biscuit, rubber, American, eraser, vacation, cookie, fall, store, truck, yard, movie, advertisement, lorry, soccer

2. 掌握本课重点句型：

Because we’re cleverer than people.

They have to work harder.

What’s school like? It’s like watching TV.

There are fewer advertisements.

I’d love to, but the school football team will practise this Saturday.

3. 区分英式英语和美式英语，并能总结二者差异的规则。

4. 通过读、听，获取Eddie和Hobo对学校的看法的信息。

5. 谈论自己的学校生活。

6. 善于思考文化现象，具有探究精神。

1. 掌握有关描述学校生活的词汇。

2. 通过听力获取Eddie和Hobo对学校的看法的信息。

3. 区分英式英语和美式英语。

三、教学过程

Task 1

Step 1 Warming-up

Free talk:

Offer the following questions to ask Ss to do the free talk activity to describe their school life.

1. What do you think of our school? Why?

2. What activities can we do in our school?

【设计意图】结合单元话题进行自由对话，引入本单元话题，激活学生对学校生活的看法。

Step 2 Presentation

1. Look at the pictures of Hobo and Eddie and predict what happened.

【设计意图】通过图片创设情境，启发学生思考描述学校生活，明确本单元主题。

2. Guide Ss to read to Comic strip and answer the following questions.

(1) Why does Eddie think dogs don’t go to school?

(2) What does Eddie think of school?  

(3) Does Eddie like school life? Why?

【设计意图】通过回答问题和思考，获取Eddie对学校生活的看法，并结合获取的信息简单推断Eddie喜欢学校生活。

3. Guide Ss to complete the short passage according to the dialogue.

【设计意图】通过在新的语境中，使用所学语言和信息，完成短文，进一步内化语言和信息同时，训练学生的信息转换能力。

Step 3 Practice

Listen and read and then act it out.

【设计意图】通过听读和表演，进一步内化语言。

Step 4 Production

Make a discussion.

【设计意图】通过讨论活动，引导学生关注Eddie对学校生活的看法，以及表达自己的观点。

In which countries do people use English?

Step 2 Presentation

1. Make a discussion.

【设计意图】通过讨论活动，引导学生发现、梳理英式和美式英语在拼写方面的差异和部分规则，形成结构化知识。

2. Guide Ss to find more difference between British English and American English by showing the pictures.

【设计意图】通过图片引导学生发现更多地发现英式英语和美式英语的差异点，形象直观，有利于学生记忆。

Step 3 Practice

1. Guide Ss to write down the British words and the American words if they refer to the same thing.

【设计意图】通过书写，帮助学生巩固英式、美式英语的区别。

2. Match the British words with the American words.

【设计意图】通过匹配词汇，进一步帮助学生巩固英式、美式英语的区别，加深记忆。

3. Listen and answer.

【设计意图】通过听力训练，通过对话中的信息，回答问题，进行合理推理，锻炼学生听力和逻辑推理能力。

4. Circle the British words and write the American words.

【设计意图】通过寻找对话中的词汇以及书写，强化学生对英式、美式英语的差异的记忆。

Step 4 Extension

【设计意图】通过展现英式、美式英语的差异中的“形式一样，意义各异”的现象，拓展学生的知识面，吸引学生主动了解更多英式、美式英语的差异点。

Step 5 Summary

Summarize what they’ve learnt in this class.

Step 6 Homework

1. Recite Comic strip and Part B.

2. Read and recite the British words and American words in Part A.

3. Search the Internet and find out the other differences between British words and American words and why there are differences between them. Then make a poster to share it.

4. Preview Reading.
