By 7 a. m, he still had 70 miles ahead of him, but the noise was so loud that he knew he had no choice but to stop.

Do you often do exercise in the morning? Quite a lot of students will probably say “No”. It's really hard for them to get up in the morning, especially when it's getting cold outside, so let alone getting up earlier for exercise.

Well, to encourage students to do some exercise in the morning, a college in Central China's Henan province holds a special activity for students. It's called “Run for Breakfast”, which is held once a year. That sounds really interesting, right? Shangqiu Normal University has a long history.

Students there can get a free breakfast, including an egg, bread and a cup of soy milk, after running  1, 200 meters in the morning. Since the college started the activity in 2010, more than 5, 300 students have taken part.

“I like the activity. It is good for those who find it hard to get up in the morning. Running can build up one's body and there's a free breakfast. I woke my roommate up this morning and we were happy after the run,” said Ren Tingting.

It's really important to have good health, "she added.

Li Mengyuan, 20 years old, organizer of the activity in Shangqiu Normal University said the free breakfast for the morning exercises would last for two weeks starting from November 12th and she was glad to see more people join in.

After receiving several complaints (投诉) from the customers, the owner of an Italian restaurant in Mooresville, North Carolina, has taken the decision to forbid children under the age of five. Although facing criticism in social media, he says that business has grown greatly.

The owner describes his restaurant as a traditional and wonderful restaurant, but young children cry, scream or play on iPads at full volume (音量). It disturbs other customers and clearly doesn't fit in too well in a wonderful meal. So the owner, Pasquale Caruso, set up a "no child under five" rule in January 2017.

“Some customers complain, get up and leave because children are bothering them, and the parents are doing nothing," Caruso told the newspaper. “It starts to feel like it isn't the Caruso's anymore, that it's a local pizzeria instead." Caruso added that he didn't like taking this kind of decision, but in the end, he had to do what was best for his business. Since then, people have been voicing their opinions on the restaurant' s unofficial Facebook page.

“You have forbidden small children. Then who are the next: blacks, Jews, native people? Shame on you!" one Facebook user called John commented. But for every critical comment, there are some that congratulate Caruso’s for taking such a brave decision. “Thank you for taking a stand," some people wrote on its Facebook page.

“I'm the parent of 5. Don't bring little ones to a nice restaurant or expect them to quietly sit still for an hour. They CANNOT DO IT,”" one person posted. Caruso said the online support for his controversial (有争议的) rule is reflected in the success of his business. The number of customers has risen from 50 a day to around 80.

    55. What's the best title for the passage?

The legendary charity runner Rosie Swale Pope has jogged (慢跑) her way across Europe to Istanbul, Turkey, as she continues her 6,000-mile journey from Brighton in the U.K. to Kathmandu in Nepal. The 73-year-old took on the challenge in an effort to raise support for a project to improve health, education and living of local communities in Nepal, which was destroyed by a destructive earthquake in 2015.

“It is not about just giving people food. It is about helping these talented people to grow their own food,” she said as she jogged by the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia, the top tourist attractions in Istanbul.

Pope, from Tenby, Wales, began her journey to Kathmandu from Brighton, a town on the English Channel, in July 2018. Turkey is the 13th country she’s jogged through. The Republic of Georgia is next on her itinerary.

“I never know where I sleep every night. I sleep in fields. I sleep in the streets. I get up and run. I meet people I would never meet any other way,” she said. She transports her belongings in a bright red cart (手推车) that she drags behind her while she runs.

Recognized as one of the world’s longest solo runners, she ran around the world in 2004 to raise money for charity, and in 2015 she ran across the United States — from New York to San Francisco — to honor her late husband, Clive, who died from prostate cancer.

Her adventures also include sailing alone from the U.K. to the U.S. in a 17-foot boat. She described herself as ‘just an ordinary person, and I am old,’ but she’s made special connections all over the world. ‘I meet people I would never meet any other way and actually it is a way of giving more to life because I have more. You don’t go out and you don’t wait for the world to come to you,’ she said.
