一、教学目标

Step 1 Warming-up
1. Guide Ss to talk about basketball and basketball players.

(1) Do you like basketball?

(2) Who is your favourite basketball player?

(3) Why do you like him/her?

【设计意图】引导学生谈论篮球和篮球手，引出话题，为后面的阅读做准备。

Step 2 Pre-reading

1. Guide Ss to look at the pictures and answer the questions.

(1) Do you know who he is?

(2) What makes a person a wonderful basketball player?

(3) Basketball players are usually very tall, aren’t they?

(4) What do you know about him?

【设计意图】通过展示著名篮球手的图片，引导学生关注Spud Webb，为阅读进行预热。

2. Guide Ss to predict what the article is about from the title.
