Some 30,000years ago, artists who lived in caves in Europe painted pictures of the animals around them: panthers, hyenas, rhinos, cave lions, mammoths and other creatures which have been extinct for a long time. The paintings were highly realistic. Some even showed movement.
The artwork, more than a thousand drawings, is considered the oldest group of human cave drawings which have ever been discovered. They were preserved because the cave was sealed--closed off--for more or less 23,000 years.
Fast forward to December 18, 1994, a group of French cave scientists were exploring caves in southern France. Jean-Marie Chauvet, who led the group then, describes the process of discovering the cave paintings.”At that time I was in the front, Eliette just walked behind me, Christian behind. Eliette said she saw two marks made with red ochre and she said, ‘They came here.’And at this very moment everything began. The drawings and everything linked to the parietal art (壁画). That is where it started.”
Cave art expert Jean Clottes reviewed the paintings. “I was amazed at the number of paintings there were and paintings of their quality and particularly in front of the panel of the horses.”
Scientific analysis confirmed the prehistoric date of the artwork. Studies showed the drawings were created tens of thousands of years ago, before human history was written. The United Nations’cultural agency UNESCO lists the cave as a World Heritage Site. They say that the drawings form a remarkable expression of early human artistic creation of grand excellence and variety.
The Chauvet Cave has been named after the explorer who first entered it. However, its environment and drawings are too fragile to be visited by human beings. So the cave is closed, and only people there for scientific purposes can go inside and see the artwork.
However, French authorities asked experts to create an exact copy of the cave, called Pont d’Arc Cavern. The copy, which we also call replica, cost more than 59million dollars to build. It opened at the end of April in France.
Pascal Terrasse is the president of the cavern. He says everyone will be able to experience the thrill of looking at drawings made by the first humans in Europe. He says the place is magic because it is done so well. Authorities say they think as many as 400,000people will be allowed to visit Pont d’Arc Cavern every year.
24.According to the passage, the first scientist to enter the cave was ________.

D.The majority of drawings there are about the extinct animals.
27.The purpose of creating Pont d’Arc Cavern is to ________.
A.show admiration for the earliest artists in Europe
B.arouse visitors’awareness of protecting ancient art
C.offer visitors chances to view the wonderful artwork

Birds, butterflies, bats and bees are all pollinators(传粉者). However, bees are classified as the most important pollinators for the existence of plants and harvest of produce worldwide. They contribute a lot to the produce we harvest, both directly and indirectly.
There are about 20,000 bee species with the most popular being the honeybee. Kept in man- made beehives(蜂巢), they are responsible for 30% of the food production chain for human consumption. In other words, without honeybees, there would it be 30% less produce for consumption.
Bees have four needs in order to survive and the most important one is having enough food. They should store enough food to get through the drought period. The other three are: approriate climate within the hive, proper living places and available nest-building materials.
However, in recent years, the number of bees is reducing considerably. There are many factors(因素)that can lead to this: the use of pesticides(杀虫剂), bacterial and parasitic infection and deforestation(滥砍滥伐). It’s a mixture of these factors that can cause the bee population to dwindle. The factors should be kept in mind in order to protect the bee populations.
In Aruba, there are many keepers called “Imkers”.Imkers are responsible for the production of honey, but they are also called when bees build nests in unwanted areas. They should carefully move the nest to other locations. There is a preservation program calld “Adopt-a-beehive” at the Cunucn Mondi Fierno. It encourages those who have an available place to make their place available for the temporary relocation of bee nests when needed. Donations are also welcome for this cause. Imkers play a very important role in protecting the bee populations.
The Department of Nature and the Environmentl calls for the relocation of the bee nests in a natural way, instead of ridding them with pesticides. Only by protecting the bees can we guarantee their existence and their help in the production of fruits and vegetables.
28.What do the figures in Paragraph 2 mainly indicate?
A.The variety of the honeybee. B.The difference between bees.
C.The popularity of the honeybee. D.The importance of the honeybee.
29.The word“dwindle”underlined in Paragraph 4 most probably means“________”.
A.remain unstable B.become smaller
C.expand rapidly D.disappear completely
30.What responsibility do Imkers should apart from producing honey?
A.Relocating some bee nests.
B.Repairing nests for honeybees.
C.Keeping bee nests away from pests.
D.Seeking donations for bee protection.
31.What’s the author’s main purpose of writing the text?
A.To describe the roles of Imkers.
B.To present ways of protecting bees.
C.To introduce different functions of bees.
D.To stress the necessity of protecting bees.

Migraine is a disease that has a number of symptoms (症状), including head pain that can stick around from four hours to several days. While migraines can happen partly because of genetic (基因的) problems, attacks may happen by chance, set off by a cause in the environment.
One common cause is food, and some common dietary causes include alcohol, salt, sugar, chocolate, and caffeine. But there are many others, and scientists continue to identify more. Last year, for example, a Brazilian study found that watermelons brought on a headache within minutes in about 30 percent of the participants.
Some new researches are looking at which foods and what kinds of diets can prevent or lessen migraines. A new study published last year by a team of researchers found that a diet higher in fish oils rather than vegetable oils helped people ease their headaches. In the study, those on a diet lower in vegetable oil and higher in fatty fish had a 30 to 40 percent reduction in total headache hours per day, serious headache hours per day, and overall headache days per month compared to the control group.
Tanya Kamka had suffered weekly migraines for most of her life. Then, in her 50s, she joined the NIH diet experiment and increased her intake of fish. After only a few months, “I haven’t had a migraine, not even a mild one, in over two years.” she says.
For others, the solution comes from plants, not fish. A 60-year-old man joined a study on the food-migraine link and turned to a diet, which includes a lot of dark, leafy greens. After two months he was experiencing only one migraine a month instead of the 18 to 24 a month he’d suffered before.
Clearly, people with migraines react to food in very different ways. What works for one person may not work for another.
32.What do we know about migraine from paragraph 1?
A.It is related to sleep time. B.It never runs in the family.
C.It lasts for at least three hours. D.It can be caused by the environment.
33.What is paragraph 2 mainly about?
A.The length of migraine. B.Foods that lead to migraine.
C.The most common cause of migraine. D.A Brazilian study about migraine.
34.What can lessen migraines according to a new study published last year?
A.Fish oils. B.Vegetable oils.
C.All kinds of fat. D.Various Vegetables.
35.Which is the author’s opinion about the effect of food on migraines?
A.It varies from person to person. B.It can only stay for a short time.
C.It depends on the age of a patient. D.It is connected to how much one takes.

My Big Solo (独唱)
The day had finally arrived: the day of my big solo. Everyone was there; my mom and dad and my little brother. And it was a big event: the Spring Fling Choir Concert. The whole class was dressed up. My name was on the cover of the program in bright yellow characters. I couldn’t believe it when I saw my name. Not that it was my name, but that it wasn’t Renee’s. Renee and I had been classmates since kindergarten. She was always ahead of me. Dance class needs a big finish? Renee was picked. The school plays? Renee would have the leads while I was cast as her mother or sister or neighbor. I even played her dog once. The only time I ever came in ahead of Renee was at roll call (点名). Cindy comes before Renee. I count that as a victory!
The choir concert tryouts were stressful. We waited in the library as Ms. Jenkins called us individually into the choir room. By the time she called me, I was shaking. When I came back to the library, Renee smiled at me. Ms. Jenkins called her name and Renee calmly followed her. She was still calm and smiling when her tryout was over
When Ms. Jenkins announced who had made the special choral group (合唱队), I wasn’t surprised when Renee’s name was on her list and mine wasn’t. “So, what else is new?” I said under my breath Sudden clapping brought me out of my bad mood. Everyone was looking at me. I’ve missed something here, I thought. Ms. Jenkins smiled at me and said, “Cindy, you will have to start practicing with me.The solos take extra preparation.” Solo? I got the solo? I glanced over at Renee. She smiled broadly and gave me the thumbs-up sign. Oh, that’s another thing. She is always so nice
Now the day had come. We filed onto the stage and took our places. I was front and center. Ms. Jenkins raised her baton (指挥棒) and we began to sing. My parents were smiling at me, cameras flashing.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

It has been home to the Howard family for more than three hundred years. Over the years a number of films have been shot there. When you visit it tomorrow, you’ll see many things. Perhaps there’s too much to see, but make sure you don’t miss these two things. First, the Walled Gardens. It is a group of three gardens. 29.词句猜测题。根据第四段第一句话“However, in recent years, the number of bees is reducing considerably.(然而,近年来,蜜蜂的数量正在大幅减少。)”和下文可知,该段讲述蜜蜂数量减少的原因,该词所在句“It’s a mixture of these factors that can cause the bee population to dwindle.(这些因素共同导致了蜜蜂数量的减少。)”和第一句话相呼应,所以可以推断dwindle的意思为“减少,变小”,B项“become smaller”符合题意。故选B项。

Ask your friends and loved ones what they think you have to offer.(准备好你以前(或现在)的工作信息和你的技能,这样慈善机构就可以为你匹配最合适的职位。
40.根据上文“Most charities have a website with a section aimed at attracting potential volunteers and they advertise specific roles available. But smaller charities might not have money to do this. In this case, you would usually need to phone or visit their offices to find out how you can help.(大多数慈善机构都有一个网站,其中有一部分旨在吸引潜在的志愿者,他们会发布具体的职位空缺。但较小的慈善机构可能没有钱这样做。在这种情况下,你通常需要打电话或拜访他们的办公室,看看你能提供什么帮助)”可知,上文提到给慈善机构打电话或拜访他们的办公室,看看你能提供什么帮助,本句为本段最后一句,应说明这一行动的结果:受到热烈欢迎。故D选项“你会受到热烈欢迎的”符合语境,故选D。

There are many famous poets all over the world. My favorite poet is Du Fu, one of the greatest Chinese poets.
Known as "the Sage of Poetry", Du Fu wrote with a realistic style and gave a vivid account of what was happening in his age. More importantly, Du Fu showed great concern over poor people's lives. Many of his poems reflected the great gap between the rich and the poor, and the effects of war on the people.
Du Fu's poems reflect realities and pay attention to common people's lives. That is why I like Du Fu most.

My big moment come. The spotlight flicked over me and then circled me in its bright light Ms. Jenkins nodded at me and signaled me to start. But I, stunned by the pressure and attention, froze, the note sticking in my throat as the choir kept singing softly behind me. Ms. Jenkins began to look a little worried. At that very moment, from behind me, Renee gave me a gentle poke and whispered, “you can do it, Cindy.” My turn came again. Encouraged by her, I took a deep breath, opened my mouth and sang out as loudly as I could.
The rest of the solo went well. And when the concert was over, the applause was thunderous. When we filed off the stage, my family met me with praise and hugs. Renee was next to hug me. It felt awkward. “Thanks, Renee,” was all I could get myself to say. “It was nothing,” she said, flashing me her usual sunny smile, “You’ve always been there for me all these years! That’s what friends are for.” “You’re right,” I said slowly, beginning to like the feeling of being her friend, and hugged her tightly “That’s what friends are for.”
