Nowadays mail delivery is a little different. I still get my mail from my mailbox. Nothing, but my neighbors’ mail. I thought that was curious.
I proceeded to take my neighbors’ mail to them. I was about to put the mail in their mailbox when a tall man came running out shouting about messing with his friend's mail. He snatched (夺过) the mail from my hand, opened the mailbox and pointed to the mail inside.“You were after this.
I shook my head, “No, believe me. I got this mail by mistake in my box today. I was just bringing it to them.” He gave me a funny look and went back into his house.
I got the knock on the door the next morning by two very polite officers. The annoyed tall man had phoned the police and told them I was a crazy old woman going around mixing up everyone's mail. Before I could finish telling them about what was going on, the officers had watched a dog approach my mailbox with mail in his mouth. He took out the mail that was in my box and put letters in. He pushed the door closed with his nose, picked up the new pile of mail he had gotten from my box, and repeated this all the way down the next street. We all started laughing.
The dog had belonged to a mail carrier who had died. No one thought to check (the carrier lived alone) on the man’s dog. The dog had been trained to put mail in and take mail out of the boxes. When he got loose, he assumed his duties.
I went by to talk to the annoyed tall man to fill him in on what had happened. He was very pleased when he realized I was not a mail thief. He did, however, adopt the little guy.
24.Why did the tall man give the author a funny look?
A.To show his disbelief. B.To express his curiosity.
C.To contain his annoyance. D.To hide his embarrassment.
25.How did the police officers discover the truth?
A.By analyzing the case. B.By witnessing the mix-up.
C.By questioning the author. D.By consulting the tall man.

C.was assigned to replace the carrier D.guarded the mail in the neighborhood
27.What’s the best title for the story?
A.A mail service B.A dog’s tale
C.Special delivery D.Noble duties

On average, primary school children in England have at least three sugary snacks a day, Public Health England (PHE) found. This means that the sugar they consume is three times more than the recommended maximum.
Children between the ages of 4 and 10 consume 51.2% of sugar from unhealthy snacks. PHE has launched a campaign, Change4Life, to encourage parents to look for healthier snacks of no more than 100 calories, and to limit them to two a day. The campaign advises parents to give their children a maximum of two snacks a day, with each containing no more than 100 calories. The campaign will also offer parents special suggestions on a range of healthier snacks—ones with 100 calories or fewer—at selected supermarkets, PHE said.
PHE said it had also improved its app so that it could mark the content of sugar, salt and fat in food and drinks. Dr Alison Tedstone told the BBC she hoped the campaign would help parents to choose healthier snacks for their children. “If you wander through a supermarket, you can see much more goods being sold as snacks than ever before,” she said, “It’s a common phenomenon that kids’ lunchboxes are full of snacks, leading to a lot of calories for lunch. Our research shows that parents usually appreciate a rule of thumb (经验法则). However, they are surprised to know how much sugar their children are consuming in snacks now.”
Justine Roberts, founder of Mumsnet, said, “The intake (摄入量) of sugar that kids are getting from snacks and sugary drinks alone is pretty astonishing, and it can often be difficult to distinguish which snacks are healthy and which are not. The rule of thumb from Change4Life can help parents make their decision correctly and wisely. ”
28.In terms of snacks, the Change4Life recommends that children have at most ________.
A.one snack a day B.three snacks a day
C.100 calories a day D.200 calories a day
29.What can PHE’s improved app help parents do?
A.Test the calories of snacks.
B.Choose delicious snacks.
C.Know the exact content in snacks.
D.Save much money buying snacks.
30.Which of the following can be inferred from Justine Roberts’ words?
A.Most parents’ former experience about snacks is practical.
B.It is easy to tell healthy snacks and unhealthy snacks apart.
C.Children only take in lots of sugar from snacks and drinks.
D.Change4Life is meaningful for parents’ decisions on snacks.
31.What is the best title for the text?
A.Solve the Health Problems of Children
B.Change the Eating Habits of Children
C.Limit Children’s Intake of Calories
D.Ensure Children’s Healthy Lifestyle

I have worked as a keeper at the National Zoo for 11 years. Spot and Stripe are the first tiger cubs (幼兽) that have ever been born here. Globally, a third of Sumatran cubs in zoos don’t make it to adulthood, so I decided to give them round-the-clock care at home.
I’ve got two children—the younger one, Kynan, was extremely happy about the tigers arriving—but all of us really looked forward to being part of their lives and watching them grow. I wasn’t worried about bringing them into my home with my wife and kids. These were cubs. They weighed about 2.5kg and were so small that there was absolutely no risk.
As they grew more mobile, we let them move freely around the house during the day, but when we were asleep we had to contain them in a large room, otherwise they’d get up to mischief. We’d come down in the morning to find they’d turned the room upside down, and left it looking like a zoo.
Things quickly got very intense due to the huge amount of energy required to look after them. There were some tough times and I just felt extremely tired. I was grateful that my family was there to help. We had to have a bit of a production line going, making up “riser milk”, washing baby bottles, and cleaning the floors.
When Spot and Stripe were four months old, they were learning how to open doors and jump fences, and we knew it really was time for them to go. It was hard for us to finally part with them. For the first few days, Kynan was always a bit disappointed that the cubs weren’t there.
I’m not sad about it. I’m hands-on with them every day at the zoo, and I do look back very fondly on the time that we had them.
32.Why did the author bring the tiger cubs home?
A.To ensure their survival. B.To observe their differences.
C.To teach them life skills. D.To let them play with his kids.
33.What do the underlined words “get up to mischief” mean in paragraph 3?
A.Behave badly. B.Lose their way.
C.Sleep soundly. D.Miss their mom.
34.What did the author think of raising the tiger cubs at home?
A.Boring. B.Tiring.
C.Illegal. D.Risky.
35.Why did the author decide to send Spot and Stripe back to the zoo?
A.They frightened the children. B.They became difficult to contain.
C.They annoyed the neighbours. D.They started fighting each other.

My stomach dropped as Mrs. Nelson said, “This is just a reminder that tomorrow is the Open Day!”
I hoped Mom to be free tomorrow so Dad would not have to come. What would people think of him? I put all negative thoughts aside with the determination that Mom would be able to come, and that was the end of it!
When arriving home, I walked in the kitchen and smelled fresh bread. It was one of Mom’s baking days! She greeted with her usual warmth, asking. “Well, hello there! How was your day?” “Nothing special. It was just another day,” I replied casually. Hearing this, her face showed her disappointment, but then here yes kept probing(探查) mine trying to read if I was being honest. It worked. She saw there was something on my mind. “Heidi, are you sure you have no news for me?” she continued.
I explained that tomorrow was the Open Day. And Dad was walking in the backdoor just in time to hear the news. I quickly asked Mom, “You are free, aren’t you?”
“Sorry dear, Ⅰ have made lots of arrangements for tomorrow. Maybe Dad will be willing to go.”
“Do you want me to come with you, Heidi?” Dad asked with a smile, “I would really love that!”
“Sure, Dad. That would be cool,” I said. But Dad really did not notice my lack of enthusiasm as his face brightened and he started talking about how much fun it was going to be.
I loved Dad’s optimism and enthusiasm. He had made life so exciting and adventurous for the family and I adored him for it. But would people see him the way I saw him? His thin body with practically bald(秃的) head was not exactly what my friends would consider a “cool dad”. Dad was also much older than most of my fiends’ parents. Their dads would be professional businessmen, doctors, dentists, or engineers. Dad was a draftsman(绘图员)and he worked in an office at home.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Well, whether I liked it or not, the next morning came.

Dear Peter,
Our town is going to have the Dragon Boat Festival this Saturday. I'm writing to invite you to be part of this event.
The Dragon Boat Festival, in memory of Qu Yuan, is one of the next important traditional Chinese festivals. It falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. On that day, people eat rice dumplings and have Dragon Boat races to celebrate.
This coming Saturday, we will make Zongzi together. I bet you will like this special food. After that we will watch the Dragon—boat race, a most exiting water sport. It offers us a chance to cheer for teams racing towards victory.
If you are interested, please let me know.
Yours,
Li Hua

Well, whether I liked it or not, the next morning came. I was feeling a bit worried but Dad seemed to have been well prepared. As I went out of my bedroom, he stood up, smiling from ear to ear. Obviously, my half smile didn't quite compare with his. On the way to school, in the car, Dad asked so many questions that I felt as if he were really questioning me. I knew he was doing his best to get a brief idea about my school life that he was about to see, though.
When we arrived, we walked into my class. Dad stood out visually, which was not quite beyond my expectation. As soon as he entered, he was making friends with children and parents. Then, he shared his stories. I looked around, checking my friends' expressions and reactions To my surprise, all of my classmates looked at Dad with such admiration. They told me the crazy stories in Dad's childhood were so cool. Not until then did I realize the things that would have embarrassed me most were indeed the same things that made me proud most!
