Last year, my friend Mitch gave me a lucky bamboo plant. Tending to the plant gave me a sense of 2 at a time when I sometimes felt useless because my ability to move was limited. As a physician, I was used to being the one who 3 care. Watering the plant 4 me to a core part of my old identity and taught me I could still be a caregiver.
However, after several weeks growing in perfect condition, the plant 5 began to show signs of stress. No matter what I did, the leaves kept 6 and dropping to the floor.

For most people, having things stolen feels like an offence. Robbie Pruitt admitted that he got mad when he discovered the theft of his mountain bike last September. But soon enough, his 11 took a turn. After letting go of his anger and frustration, he found himself on a road to sympathy instead.
For Robbie, a keen bicyclist, the first thing to do was 12 his stolen bike. But when he went shopping, he found few available, which got him thinking: What if the lack of bikes was Covid-19 related, and what if the person who’d taken his bike really needed 13 to get to work?
With that thought in mind, Robbie came up with a plan and posted it on the community website. He 14 to fix bikes free of charge for anyone who needed it. Immediately after I saw him pull into the parking lot, I 23 his order, having it ready by the time he walked in. If I had no other work to do, I sat and talked with him. We learned a lot about each other. I could not help feeling sorry for him because his wife had recently passed away.
After a year of working every weekend, I eventually decided to leave and turned in my two-week notice. The most difficult part of 24 was not telling my boss, but informing Frank. I felt like I was 25 him. When I finally brought it up, he 26 replied, “Oh, that’s too bad. I’m sure that the staff will miss you.” I began to think that our visits held no real importance to him, and that he would be just as 27 enjoying his food alone. 28 , on my last day, Frank came in with a card that simply read, “Your kindness during the time we have spent together is heartwarming.
