Throughout my childhood, I felt the need to be in control. However, the need came to a sudden 21 during my trip to Puerto Rico in June 2015. On this trip, the 22 of travel and soccer taught me that freedom doesn’t come from being in control but rather from fully 23 in my surroundings.
I stood on the hotel balcony in Old San Juan, 24 the long street that led to the ocean. 25 in Spanish from the street market far below reminded me of how 26 this place was from my home. I decided it was time to 27 .
I’d been taking Spanish for six years, but as I stepped onto the 28 of Old San Juan, I was too 29 to put more than two Spanish words together. I went past the street vendors, kicking my soccer ball gently as I walked, and 30 near one of Puerto Rico’s famous castles. A group of Puerto Rican boys stood in a circle 31 a small, flat soccer ball. Making eye contact with one of the boys, I passed my ball over and 32 them. As we played, I gradually began to feel the sense of clarity and flow that I’d been 33 to achieve during my entire childhood. I let go, feeling comfortable enough as a(n) 34 between us went beyond both cultural and language barriers.
My 35 need for control had come from growing up with strict parents, coaches and expectations from my school and community. I 36 for control wherever I could get it. I overthought every move in soccer games, which made me less creative and 37 the team consequently.
This experience made me 38 my struggle for control was 39 me. I learned that when I open myself up to others, I am free to earn this rare state of 40 in which I can freely express myself.

Seven years ago, I made a decision. I started a financial journey with my kids in the 41 of not only teaching them good financial habits, but also teaching them important lessons in life. I helped each 42 a business so they could start earning income. They divided it into 4 important categories: giving, investing, saving and spending.
Well, things started off beautifully. My kids were 43 to start earning money and spend it reasonably. They 44 gave a part of their money to the church and various charities. And I helped my kids invest a part of it into a Roth IRA(罗斯个人退休账户) to 45 their money from taxes as well as to start their retirement plans--it’s 46 too early. We enjoyed 47 how much it could grow into based on the different interest rates every day. My kids usually saved up for a concrete goal and tried hard to 48 it--my son for a laptop computer and my daughter for an iPhone. My kids had fun 49 and making purchases with hard-earned money.
Fast forward to today, my kids are 50 doing all of the same things I mentioned above. There might be some 51 in your head--why I’m not satisfied. I just 52 more. I envisioned(希望) my kids becoming 53 so that they could make as much money as possible. I envisioned them really being 54 by a specific cause or charity that they really had 55 for. I envisioned them accomplishing larger and larger goals in the future. I envisioned them becoming more 56 with their spending instead of just pursuing material comforts.
57 , not everything goes exactly as I envisioned in my head. Much 58 will appear and need to deal with. Anyhow, I believe my teaching way is doubtlessly right. After all, we have 59 from it. So, as I 60 this financial journey of important lessons with my kids, I have to remember this lesson they taught me.

Humans, through the ages, have experienced many changes from the time when they lived in dark caves to nowadays when they live in comfortable apartments, 61 one thing remains the same: people always 62 in groups. So why are groups so 63 to people? I think it is because of the psychological, social and financial advantages.
With regard to psychological aspects, I think groups make people feel more purposeful and 64 . When one is lonely and bored, he or she may 65 little purpose in life. But once they join a group that promotes a 66 cause, their life will soon become more purposeful. 67 , a group can give an individual courage to overcome difficulties. Everyone knows the saying, “There is 68 in numbers.” No doubt, meeting challenges as a group is often easier than meeting them 69 .
70 speaking, groups and organizations provide an interesting way for people with common interests to share information, ideas and hobbies. Today, there are 71 social groups, including running groups, culture groups and dance groups. As a group, people can have more fun and can 72 from the collection of different ideas 73 by the group’s many members. I think the saying, “Two heads are better than one”, 74 here.
Finally, I think groups are important to people because it allows them to pool their resources together to make certain things more 75 . For example, many people like traveling in large groups because hotels and airlines are always willing to offer a lower price 76 group business. Many modern suburban neighborhoods have formed car pools to share and lower the 77 of getting to and from the city. There’s 78 to the saying, “It’s 79 by the dozen.”
In conclusion, I think groups and organizations give people psychological, social and financial advantages. No matter how the world 80 , they play an essential role in our life.

We had moved from Cairo to Mt. Vernon, Illinois, away from my grandmother when I was eight years old. I 81 her terribly. I was told I was her favorite 82 ; she was my favorite “Granny.”
Granny had never had very much in the way of money or material things. But it was the little things she gave me that had always 83 , things like letting me dip my 84 in the sugar bowl, which was always sitting on her table or the coffee she let me sip from her cup. She 85 me to sit on top of her kitchen table to partook of those privileges.
She didn’t live in a 86 house or have expensive things, but I never minded; I just knew she loved me and I love her 87 . I used to spend a lot of time with Granny when we lived in Cairo. 88 she didn’t have much, and neither did we, she did something for my brother, Tommie, and me. I will always remember she saved her 89 in a glass jar. I am sure Granny could have 90 those pennies herself but she saved them to give us when we came to 91 . Because I was the older sister, I was in charge of 92 the pennies equally between my brother and me. “One for you, one for me.” I would repeat until the jar was 93 .
I don’t remember how much we 94 on our visits; nor was the amount 95 . It was the idea that she 96 us, and cared about us, when we were 97 from her. Those memories of the childhood, still give me 98 fuzzy feelings on days when I need them. A granny’s love 99 with a grandchild, down through the years, even when that child becomes a grandma herself. I often wonder, after all those years, when I am lucky enough to find a penny lying on the ground somewhere, if it could be 100 tossing me pennies—from heaven.

Niu Yu looked remarkable on the catwalk (时装表演台) at the 2021 Shanghai Fashion Week. This was not just because of her beauty or the clothes she was wearing. My teammates cheered.
Long before Camcorders (便携式摄像机) tapes, our coach would have every game 121 , have it developed overnight and ready for Monday`s 122 . Dressed only in football pants and our smelling T-shirts, we listened to Coach’s 123 of the previous game, his voice was barely heard over the noise of the projector.
He rarely 124 out good plays, but was quick to find 125 . One afternoon, he 126 me. The quarterback was my least favorite play — I was supposed to pull from my right tackle position and trap the linebacker on the left side of the line. Coach knew I was too 127 for that play. Why did he 128 a play he knew I couldn’t do?
In the film room, Coach 129 the play up five or six times, “Wilson, you’ve got to get the lead (铅) out of your pants. If you`re going to remain as our strong-side tackle position, you’re going to have to 130 these moves.” He really let me 131 it! Finally, he 132 pressing the reverse button (回放键) and let the play finish.
During the game, though it looked like I wouldn’t make the block, I 133 down, dashed 134 the defender and took him out of the game. Our striker ran through the hole and make a 135 goal.
I wasn’t a good football player. The truth is, I was 136 to be on the team. I had size and 137 , but was too slow to be effective. Coach was 138 in assuming I wouldn’t make that block, 139 I didn’t. But this time I did. Not because of ability, but because of 140 and determination. As Coach used to say, “Wilson, you’ve got to give it 110% if you’re going to be a starter on my team.”
He was right then, and is right now. Thanks, Coach.
