I went with a friend who was very skillful. He spent a long time teaching me how to skate, but I still didn't learn much, which made him very angry. Finally,he left me and skated all around.I skated alone and soon got bored because I kept falling down so I took off my skates and just walked around on the ice in my shoes. It was cold and my feet were frozen.
Suddenly,I stepped on something that was not hard. What was it?It was a weak place in the ice. When I stepped there,I sank under the ice.I thought that I was going to die,but I did my best to grab something to get out from under the ice.I would have climbed out myself by grabbing the edge of the ice,but at that time I was only a child of eight.I cried out.

About 85 percent of Americans use an alarm clock to wake up in the mornings, according to sleep researcher Till Roennenber. And while there are no official numbers on snoozing (打盹), a quick survey of social media makes it clear that hitting the snooze button is a popular choice for many people.
As to how the snooze button will affect your day, scientists have mixed opinions. Some scientists think people who hit the snooze button in the mornings are actually clever, creative and happy while some said that hitting the snooze button will ruin your life, or at least your day. "I feel that hitting the snooze button has got to be one of the worst things that ever happened to human sleep," researcher Jonathan Horowitz said. "The chances of you 'snoozing' and actually experiencing a meaningful rest are close to zero."
According to some sleep experts, when hitting the snooze button, you are in fact confusing your body and mind, and throwing yourself into a deep state of being sleepy. The body needs some time to wake up, so, when returning to what will be a light sleep for a brief period of time, you are putting your body back into a sleep mode before waking it again. At that point your body won't know what it wants, resulting in a sort of half awaken state.
If you really want to take advantage of an alarm clock, the key is to form a healthy sleep cycle. Focus your efforts on getting enough sleep each night and waking up at the same time each day so that when your alarm goes off you feel rested.46. What can we infer about hitting the snooze button from the first two paragraphs?A. People do it just for fun. B. It is a common practice.

B. It turns people into lazier ones.
C. It helps people adapt to a new day.
D. It affects people to some extent.49. What is the author's suggestion according to the last paragraph?A. Forming a good sleep habit. B. Waking up a bit earlier.
C. Taking another light sleep. D. Adding an extra alarm.50. What is the best title for the text?A. Secrets behind Snoozing in the Morning.
B. Ways to Keep Refreshed after Wake-up.
C. The Snooze Button: A Good Choice?
D. Snooze to Avoid the Light Sleep Mode.DA friend of mine,in response to a conversation we were having about the injustices of life, asked me the question, "Who said life was going to be fair,or that it was even meant to be fair?" Her question was a good one.It reminded me of something I was taught as a youngster:life isn't fair. It's a disappointment, but it's absolutely true. One of the mistakes many of us make is that we feel sorry for ourselves,or for others, thinking that life should be fair,or that someday it will be.It's not and it won't be.
One of the nice things about surrendering (屈从) to the fact that life isn't fair is that it keeps us from feeling sorry for ourselves by encouraging us to do the very best we can with what we have.We know it's not "life's job" to make everything perfect,it's our own challenge.Surrendering to this fact also keeps us from feeling sorry for others because we are reminded that everyone is dealt differently;everyone has unique strengths and problems in the process of growing up,facing the reality and making decisions;and everyone has those times that they feel unfairly treated.
The fact that life isn't fair doesn't mean we shouldn't do everything in our power to improve our own lives or the world as a whole. On the contrary,we tend to feel pity for others and for ourselves.Pity,of course,is a self-defeating emotion that does nothing for anyone, except to make everyone feel worse than they already do.When we do recognize that life isn't fair, however,we feel enthusiastic for others and for ourselves. And enthusiasm is a heartfelt emotion that conveys loving-kindness to everyone it touches.
The next time you find yourself thinking about the injustices of the world, try reminding yourself of this very basic fact. You may be surprised that it can make you out of self-pity and into helpful action.51. The author thought of his friend's question as a good one because ______ .A. he also wanted to know who held such an opinion
B. it made him recall something during his childhood
C. like his friend,he also thought life was unfair
D. he learned something from the question as a youngster52. Surrendering to the fact that life isn't fair will ______ .A. keep us from making everything perfect
B. keep us from doing everything in our power
C. make us face unfair treatment bravely
D. make us know it's our duty to perfect things53. The second paragraph of the passage mainly tells us that ______ .A. it's nice to accept the injustice of life
B. it's nice to surrender to the life
C. we should not surrender to the life
D. we should not feel sorry for everything54. In the last paragraph, "this very basic fact" refers to the fact that ______ .A. you should not pity for others B. life isn't and won't be fair
C. compassion is heartfelt emotion D. pity is a self-defeating emotion55. According to the author, when recognizing life injustice, you may ______ .A. take measures to solve life problem
B. feel pity to other people
C. do nothing to improve our life
D. receive enthusiasm from others第Ⅱ卷(非选择题)四、阅读表达(本大题共1小题,共10分)56. [1] After an exhausting swim practice on a cold winter evening, I received an invitation from my friend Lucy, asking me to attend a dance. At the top of the invitation, Young Angels was written across the page. Young Angels was organizing a dance to raise money for community service projects. I thought it was such a great idea that I not only wanted to attend it, but also wanted to become involved.
[2]This was over two years ago and since then, I have become a lead member in Young Angels of America. At each dance, teens not only have fun with their friends but are also informed about different charities. Knowing that I have taught others how they can get involved makes me feel satisfied and delighted.
[3]The most memorable experience of my time in Young Angels was the Middle School Winter Dance in 2007, when we had a special child help organize the dance and participate in the event. This child was Lily. Lily had a dreadful disease that will eventually kill her. Lily had the best attitude towards life: she enjoyed every moment and made the best of it. Lily got me inspired to help others and never take any moment for granted.
[4] I now have a dream, I want to inspire as many children as possible to volunteer. So many kids don't realize how easy it is to make a difference to the world. I am only 15 years old and I have organized over five events, getting nearly 1,000 children involved. I want to be the angel to inspire that passion in others to make the difference that I feel as I have made to my community.(1) What's the purpose of the dance organized by Young Angels?( no more than 8 words) (2) How did the author feel about her influence on others?( no more than 6 words) (3) What does the underlined word "dreadful" in Paragraph 3 mean?( 1 word) (4) What is the author's dream?( no more than 10 words)(5) What do you think of the author's dream?(no more than 25 words) Dear Smith,_______________________________________________________________________________Yours,Li Hua

Knowing that you are interested in a traditional Chinese festival, which is called Dragon Boat Festival by Chinese, I am writing to introduce it to you.
The Dragon Boat Festival is in honor of the great poet, Qu Yuan, who sacrifices his life to jump into the Miluo River in order to warn the king. People were touched by his behavior and set the day he died as a festival to show honor to him. On that day, we often eat rice-dumplings and drink a special wine. Besides, what should be stressed is the dragon-boat racing, which is very interesting and exciting. People gather on the both sides of the river to watch the participators spare no effort to make for the finishing line.
The Dragon Boat Festival is approaching. Would you like to join us to spend it? I'm looking forward to your coming.
Yours,
Li Hua
