As a mid-aged man, I was always worried about my weight. Every time when I walked on the street, I would see fear on others' faces as if I were a giant (巨人). I knew I had to change or die. So I went to see Doctor May and told her my trouble.

"Walking a dog will help you." suggested Doctor May.

"Walk a dog? I've never had a dog." I said.

"I have a perfect dog for you!" said Doctor May and she showed me a large black-and-white dog with a big round body. He looked up at me and then dropped his head with a clear look of aversion. He didn't seem to like me. Neither did I.

"He is Peety. As no one cares for him, he's too heavy now and needs exercise," said Doctor May. Looking at the poor dog, I saw the terrible life he had had. I touched him carefully. He seemed to like that and lay down near my feet.

The next day, we started our first walk. Although Peety didn't walk very fast, I was tired out. You could clearly hear my footsteps on the road - thump, thump, thump, like the giant from Jack and the Beantalk.

"I can't go on!" I shouted to him, lying on the ground. Peety ran back and looked at me quietly.

"Oh, Peety," I said. "Do you really want a walk with a giant like me?" He kept looking at me with those beautiful dark eyes and waited in silence. I knew I wouldn't make him upset.

Over the next weeks, we kept on walking. There were times when I couldn't catch up with him. He would just look up at me like I was the greatest man in the world - and that's what l wanted to be for him.

William Shakespeare is one of the most famous writers in the world. He wrote many plays. He was born in Stratford, England, in 1564. He came from a rich family. But when he was fifteen, his family became poor because his father lost all his money. William was not able to study at school, so he left and got a job.

At that time. theaters began to open in London. William decided to move to London and soon found work as an actor. Actors often helped to write the plays as well as act them. That was how William discovered that he was good at writing.

At that time, many explorers (探险家) traveled around the world and brought back stories of adventures (冒险) and new discoveries (发现). These gave William lots of ideas for his plays. Queen Elizabeth liked William's plays so much that she asked him to write one specially for her.

A study of 577,000 children from 42 countries shows girls get ill after just two hours watching screens like television, chatting or gaming online. But because boys are more likely to be physically active, they can safely spend twice as much time ou screens each day before having health problems.

Doctors warn (告诫) that depression (抑郁) is rising among Australian children. The study also shows the need to balance (平衡) screen time with "green time" outdoors. Children who exercise or play outdoors are healthier and happier, the study shows.

Professor Asaduzzaman Khan said the study found boys were twice as likely as girls to meet the health guideline for physical activity of an hour a day. He said 24 percent of boys, while 14 percent of girls, spent an hour a day exercising.

A dad from Melboume. Tom Hindhauhh said he had a three-zone system for his thirteen-year-old son, Patrick: a "go zone" for time to do schoolwork, a "slow zone" for time to play video games or chat with friends on line and a "no zone" when screens were turned off.

"We need those screens for homeschooling. Technology is also the only way kids can communicate and hang out with each other during the COVID-19," be said. "We have an hour or so for slow zone and after that screens should be off. We need to get children outside and moving. Physical activity is the key for their health, whether it's walking, riding a bike or playing balls.

Professor Khan said spending too much time on watching TV, gaming or chatting online could lead to depression, overweight, poor condition of life, unhealthy diet and decreased cognitive abilities (认知能力减弱). "If you spend more time on screens, you are likely not to do well in your studies.”
