He also asked for unwanted bikes, which he would repair—again 9 . And then he would donate them to folks who could truly use them but didn’t have the 10 to buy one.
The day the post went live, Pruitt received thirty 11 bicycles. Then came more than 500 12 for detailed information. By the end of 2022, Pruitt had repaired more than 140 for donation or to be 13 to their owners.

It’s 5:15 pm. Traffic comes to a full stop. I’m 41 before getting on the bridge. Looking at the rows of cars and trucks in the sun, I start to 42 — 1, 2, 3,…299, 300, 301 — and I give up.
Suddenly I 43 I’m one of the helpless drivers because of heavy traffic. But I stay 44 . When the cars do move, I move carefully, making sure not to hit other vehicles. Finally, I 45 it onto the bridge. The traffic is still moving at a snail’s pace. Tired and hungry, I become very 46 .
Just then, I hear a faint (微弱的) sound in the distance. The sound 47 becomes louder, until I can see an emergency vehicle 48 from behind. What do we do? The bridge is packed. There’s no 49 for us to move.
But I’m wrong. Every single car quickly, yet carefully, 50 to the side. Without thinking, I follow suit. The lane (车道) remains 51 for a few seconds during which the ambulance flashes through.
How did we do that? Despite our exhaustion, we collectively decided to help the 52 who needed the time more desperately than we did. We drew on our compassion (同情心) and intelligence, 53 no directives (指令). 54 I may seem alone stuck on the bridge, I’m connected to all the other 55 . Together we could make the impossible possible.

Carlton Hotels are famous for their brilliant customer service. Well, here’s a wonderful story of this in action, and it 56 Joshie, the Giraffe!
When Chris Hurn’s 57 came back from their holiday at the Ritz-Carlton on Amelia Island in Florida, they 58 returned without Joshie, the Giraffe, Chris’s young son’s “best friend”! They’d 59 him behind, and as you can imagine, this caused huge stress and trouble 60 ! Chris 61 that there was nothing to worry about and that Joshie was having a little 62 holiday and that he was fine. His son seemed to 63 this and dropped off to sleep!
That evening the Ritz-Carlton called to say that they had found Joshie in the laundry and that he had been 64 to the hotel’s Loss Prevention Team. Chris told them about his “little 65 ” about Joshie’s extra holiday and wondered if they would 66 taking a picture of Joshie on a chair by the pool to ‘prove’ it! To Chris’s 67 , they said they were happy to help — so now that’s two people who could sleep sound!
A couple of days later a 68 arrived. In it was Joshie, along with some Ritz-Carlton-branded “goodies” including a Frisbee and a football! Also included in the package was a notebook that 69 Joshie’s extended stay at the hotel!
70 , it included pictures of Joshie 71 by the pool of the hotel, having a massage at the spa, meeting with other toy friends and even driving down to the beach in a toy car! It also showed Joshie working on the security cameras making sure that other things didn’t get 72 !
The Ritz-Carlton 73 clearly went the extra mile for Chris’s son and I often 74 to them in my presentations on customer inquiry. It’s a great example of going beyond customer 75 .

I bought a ukulele(四弦琴)so I could perform with my grandkids.I 96 Jingle Bells and sent the tune to my grandchildren, Julian and Audrey. 97 ran high! The day of the family concert arrived, but we only made it through the first verse(节) before my band mates lost 98 .
The ukulele is such an inexpensive, simple 99 . It’s hard to pick one up without smiling. It’s much easier to play than a guitar, and unlike the years 100   to play the piano , a ukulele player can be singing and playing 101
Over the years, the ukulele has had varying popularity, but never has it been better 102 than during the pandemic. Sales have 103 suddenly and greatly. People forced to stay home in isolation looked for something to do and an interest in music led them to the 104     ukulele.
After the family concert, I 105 an online ukulele group. They used to gather at the local community center but had been gathering via Zoom for almost two years. And because anyone in the world with a computer and an internet connection could 106 we had weekly visitors from everywhere in the world.
My online group has now 107 to their live Sunday concerts at the community center. It’s wonderful to finally 108 these people in person, and although performing in person is a little more 109 ,the volume of 40 ukuleles playing together is uplifting.
And since there is still 110 from those who can only join online, the club is providing an internet link, bringing in ukulele   111 worldwide.
112 meetups gave me and so many others a whole new way of getting together to play and sing. I did more     113 and found groups all over the world. Curiosity and a tendency to wake up early found me signing into MUC at 4 am. During a break, I found myself in a chat room with five other players who looked quite 114   as I answered their questions. They found my accent as special as I did theirs. But together we belted out the songs.
Now, if I can just get my grandchildren to practice, maybe this Christmas we’ll 115 Jingle Bells.

I did my first marathon at 25. I started too fast and found it very 116 . Then, seven years ago, when I was 43, I went to a talk by someone who had just done the Sahara Desert 117 . I felt so 118 and pledged (发誓) I would run it, too.
A year later, I completed the 24-hour ultra-marathon in the Namibian desert. I 119 what on earth I could do next. My father, a former soldier, had just died of cancer and I wanted to raise money for a soldiers’ charity 120 . There are 66 cities in the UK, so I 121 a challenge — a 50 km marathon in each city, no rest days in between.
On the first day, I ran for around six to seven hours, eating along the way to get more 122 . On day two, I tore my right Achilles tendon (跟腱). I 123 my pace and thought about the soldiers’ 124 I was doing the run for. It was nothing compared with some of their injuries.
Then, on day 26, it got worse. I had to 125 through the day, which took almost 11 hours. I kept telling myself I couldn’t fail. If I 126 , the pain would have stopped, but I knew I would 127 it for the rest of my life. On May 20, I finished, four days after my 50th birthday.
I have a 128 body now than at any point in my life. Anyone can do this. I’m not superhuman. I’m just 129 , and I have the next thing 130 already.

When I was 4 years old, my aunt put a pair of headphones around my ears one day. For the first time I listened to classical music. My first experience with it was 131 . The moment she put those headphones on, I stopped everything and stared 132 out into the universe, 133 by what was going on between my ears.
134 her, I had an early enjoyable experience with classical music that 135 my life path. I started taking piano lessons and composing my pieces of music at 9. In high school I 136 a band with my best friends playing and recording music and it had become a huge part of my life and 137 .
None of these, though, would have much story 138 without some complications. In college, I started ballroom dancing, and all of us began to pursue our individual life 139 . Music took a 140 seat until one day in 2017.

How could I have given up on music? I went online immediately to buy some such 143 as micophone stands, a mixer and some good microphones to start recording. The things you don’t do today will end up being the 144 of tomorrow.
So I started playing with 145 , writing and posting my own pieces showing my inner thoughts online. In a few months, I had dozens of pieces published and my 146 was on fire.
As more people began to listen to my music, I got 147 feedback. They said my music made them think and relax. I told them that I could 148 . For some it was even good sleep aid or a good way to 149 stress from a hard day at work. I began to realize that my music wasn’t just for me — it could heal and 150 others in a meaningful way.

Beep! Beep! Beep! I rolled over and turned off my alarm clock. It was still dark outside so I felt my way to the wall switch and 151 the light. I got up quickly because I knew my dog would be 152 to get outside for the morning walk. I reached over to grab a 153 and stopped.
