Teaching Key and Teacning Difficult PointTeaching key points : Students can understand the passage and master the common style structure of student profiles. Teaching difficult points : Students will be able to recall and consolidate their knowledge of junior English and be prepared for senior English studies. Teaching ProceduresStep 1 Lead-in (5 minutes)Ask students how they felt on their first day of school.(happy, anxious, worried, excited......) why?Did anything impressive happen on the first day of school? What is it?(Justification:this step can attract student’s interest and introduce the topic.) Step 2 pre-reading (8 minutes)Look at the title and pictures, ask students make a prediction what’s this article mainly talk about, and guess where this article is taken from.(Justification:this step can provide some background information and pave the way for the following activities.) Step 3 while-reading (20 minutes)Activity 1 fast readingAsk students read the article quickly and find the main idea of each paragraph.Para 1: anxious about senior high school life.Para 2: first math class.Para 3:first chemistry class.Para 4: Feelings of the day Activity 2 word guessingAsk students to guess the meaning of the following words, and how they know that? Outgoing: Someone who is outgoing is very friendly and likes meeting and talking to people. (out外 + go向 → 外向的) Impression:Your impression of a person or thing is what you think they are like, usually after having seen or heard them. (im-入,向内 + -press-压 + -ion名词词尾) Concentrate: You give all your attention to it. (con-共同 + -centr- 中心 + -ate 动词词尾) Experiment:An experiment is a scientific test done in order to discover what happens to something in particular conditions. (ex-出 + -peri-试验,尝试 + -ment名词词尾) Explore: If you explore, or explore a place, you travel around it to find out what it is like.(ex-, 向外+-plor, 大叫,哭喊) Activity 3 careful readingAsk students read the article again and focus on the detailed information, then answer the following questions on the textbook.Because she is not outgoing.The class was difficult, the teacher was kind and friendly.The guy next to her tried to talk to her whole the time, so she couldn’t focus on the experiment.Ask him keep quite on the class.She feel more confident and believe she can make more friends. Step 4 post-reading (10 minutes)Group disscussion4 students in a group, read the article for the third time, extract key information from the text, then Retell Han Jing's experiences and feelings throughout the day in your own words. Homework (2 minutes)Write a short essay to describe what happened and how you felt on the first day of school
