表示基本数量的词称为基数词
1. 表示年龄（不确定的年龄时用“in +基数词复数” ）。 ① My father is frty. ② He became famus in his twentieth.
2. 表示次数和倍数：一次或一倍用nce，两次或两倍用 twice，三倍（次）或者三倍（次）以上用“基数词+times”。 ① This rm is fur times bigger than that ne. ② He has been t Beijing fr three times.
3. 表示年份和时间。 in the 1970s; in 2016; ten past five4. 表示编号。 Class Five; Rm 309
5. hundred、 thusand、 millin、 billin这些词前面有具体数字时，后面不加“s” ；反之要加“s”，且要与f连用，表示“数以计的;许多”。

表示顺序的词称为序数词
口诀：基变序，有规律，结尾字母th； 1、2、3，特殊记，结尾字母t， d， d； 8去t，9去e，f来把ve替； ty变成tie，后加th莫迟疑； 几十几，很容易，只变个位就可以。
(1)序数词前若有名词所有格、形容词性物主代词等限定词时，则不加the； (2)表示顺序时，序数词前必须加the，其后接可数名词单数； (3)序数词前面也可以加不定冠词a或an，表示“又一，再一”，内含顺序性； (4)物品编号时，序号在前用序数词，序号在后用基数词，即“名词＋基数词＝the＋序数词＋名词”。有时可以直接用数字来表示； (5)表示在多少世纪时用序数词，其前用介词in。

【答题方法】 解答此类的问题，考生应该做到：①根据句意及数词的含义来确定用基数词还是序数词，基数词一般表示“几(个)”，序数词表示“第几”；②根据基数词与序数词之间的变化规律来选择正确的形式。 如何判断用基数词还是序数词 1．填基数词 (1)表示几年、几岁、几点钟等时间用基数词。 (2)表示电话号码或某物的数量时，用基数词。 (3)in the＋年份的复数(为基数词复数)。如：in the 1980s； (4)固定用法。如：at the age f＋基数词；page＋基数词等。
2．填序数词(1)the＋序数词＋名词。(2)序数词表示列举。如：first，secnd，third；(3)名词所有格＋序数词＋名词。(4)形容词性物主代词＋序数词＋名词。
