    Teaching aims:

    1. After this lesson, Ss can understand the passage on page4 and get the key information from it.
    2. After this class, Ss can understand and use the following words properly: glasses, jeans, long, nervous, fair, pretty, proud, short, stranger, tall and young.
    3. After this lesson, Ss can describe the what people look like using the words and phrases they have learned.

    key point: Ss can describe the appearance and hobby of a person with the following words: glasses, jeans, hobby, proud, tall, young and so on.

    Difficult point: Ss can use the phrases like nervous, proud, cant wait, love, I feel/am, When I... to express feelings.

    Teaching process

    Step one  lead in

    T shows a short video about physical appearance, and asks Ss what the video is about. Ss answer physical appearance

    Step two  fast-reading

      Ss read the passage quickly and find out which is Sallys photo. T checks the question: Picture A.

      Step three  careful-reading

    1. Ss read Paragraph 1&2 carefully and answer the following questions:

    1)  What colour is Sallys hair?  (Fair)

    2)  What will Sally carry?  (A warm coat)

    1. Ss read para3 and tell T or F.

    1)  Sally spends a lot of time playing football with her friends at school. (F)

    2)  Sallys brother is good at everything. (T)

    1. Ss read para4 and fill in the blanks.

    T shows language point on the PPT or blackboard:

    Step four  careful-reading

    Ss finish the activity 3 and read the passage together loudly.

    Step five  post-reading

    Ss complete the passage with the correct form of the words in the box. (activity 6)

    Step eight  summary

    How to describe a person:

    Appearance----- what does she/he look like?

    Hobbies------ what she/he likes doing?

    Feelings------how she/he feel when....

    Homework

      Write the message to your pen friend and describe yourself. (activity7)

      Recite the words and phrases on page112 from favourite to love and write them on the paper with three times in English and once in Chinese.

    Teaching reflection

      Teachers leave too little time for students to write in class, and students do not communicate much about each other's compositions. Teachers should pay more attention to students who are not active in answering questions and let them participate more in the class.
