教学过程
Step 1 Warm-up
- Greetings
T: Good morning, students.
Ss:Good morning, teacher.
T: How are you?
Ss: Fine, thanks.
- Revision
Check the homework
Invite some students to list some countable nouns, some uncountable nouns, some countable and uncountable nouns
Step 2 Presentation
- Teach the new words
Show the students some pictures of food. Ask them to say the new words and then repeat.
Invite some students to make sentences using these words.
- Teach Activity 1a.
Call attention to the food on the table in 1a.
T:Please look at the picture. What food are there in the picture?
Point to the words on the list.
T: please repeat the words after me.
Ask students to match each word with a picture.
T: Write the letter of each food picture in the blank in front of the correct word.
As students work, move around the room and answer any questions they may ask.
- Teach Activity 1b
T: Call attention to the food on the table, please circle the things you like and put an X in front of the things you don’t like.
Then point to the speech bubbles and ask two students to read the dialogue. Call attention to the two sentences and explain a language point.
I like dumplings, fish and orange juice. I don’t like onions, green tea or porridge.
Step 3
Pairwork.
T: Look at the order form in 1c. Now we will play a game. You have to work in pairs. Students A, you work in the House of Dumplings. Ask studentB questions and fill out the order form. Remember to ask for the address and telephone number. StudentB, you order food and drink that you like from the list in Activity 1a.
Give students enough time to do it.
As they work, move around the room checking the progress and offering language support as needed.
After students have completed the dialogue, have them exchange roles and do it again.
Finally invite some pairs of students to present their conversation to the class.
Step 4 Summary
In this period, we’ve learnt some new words about some food and drink by matching the words with the correct pictures. Then we’ve learnt how to show our preference of food. Besides, we’ve done some listening to fill in the order form. By doing these listening and speaking practice, we’ve consolidated the target language.
Step5 Homework
- Go over the key words and phrases.
- Make a role-play: Assume that one student works in a dumpling house, the other student is a customer who wants to order food. Make a conversation to present what will happen between them.
- Preview the next period.
