In my opinion, my mother has the ability to do anything, especially chores such as ironing and cooking. However, teaching her how to use the Internet is as frustrating as untangling (解开) wires.
Once, my mother came to me to ask for help on how to find a recipe for all-beef Lasagna. I gave her very simple verbal instructions—go to the home page of a particular search engine and type in “recipe for all-beef Lasagna.” Fifteen minutes later, she came to me, telling me that she was unable to find the Internet icon. I went over to the computer and pointed out the icon to her.
Another fifteen minutes went by when I felt a tap on my shoulder. This time, my mother said that she was unable to search for the particular recipe. Gritting (咬) my teeth, I walked to her room again. I saw that she had typed “all beef La saga” instead. With frustrated strokes, I keyed in the correct spelling.
Yet another fifteen minutes went by again when my mother gingerly tapped my shoulder. I stormed next door without bothering to hide my frustration. The main page of the website had not shifted one bit. I then realized that she did not know how to scroll(滚动屏幕) down the page. What had initially seemed like an easy task was turning out to be an intense one.
To avoid being disturbed again, I decided to find the recipe for her. Without a word, I rapidly downloaded a few recipes, printed them out and passed them to my mother. However, seeing her embarrassment, I began to regret my impatience.
At that moment, memories flashed through my mind. When I was young, my mother endured my endless questions, enlightening me with much patience. Now that I am older, the roles slowly reverse. As my mother may increasingly need my help, shouldn’t I rethink how to respond to her needs?
24、Why does the author gave her mother very simple instructions at first?
    A. Because she was an impatient person.
    B. Because she didn’t want to be disturbed.
    C. Because she wanted to make them easy to follow.
    D. Because she thought it was an easy task to do.
25、How did the author’s mother feel when she got the recipes?
    A. Delighted. B. Embarrassed. C. Frustrated. D. Impatient.
26、Which of the following is probably the end of the story?
    A. The author becomes more willing to help her mother.
    B. The author’s mother becomes more patient to her.
    C. The author’s mother doesn’t turn to her for help any more.
    D. The author learns more recipes with her mother.
27、What can be a suitable title for this text?
    A. It’s never too old to learn. B. Action speaks louder than words.
    C. Patience is the mother of success. D. Understanding means standing in other’s shoes.
Teachers often can fall into the trap of teaching content, paying no attention to children. Many of us have the attitude that “we will put the information out there, and if they don't get it, they are to blame.”
Several years ago, I had a student named Jeremy in 12th-grade English, in which British literature was taught. I struggled to find ways to make the content interesting. Jeremy didn't care. Though Jeremy was classified as gifted, he slept in class every day. I began to get really frustrated. I even began to dislike him.
High school teachers sometimes develop a hands-off attitude. I thought, “OK, Jeremy, if you want to fail my class, fine. I've tried everything.” As time went on, I ignored Jeremy. I didn't ask him questions, or even make eye contact with him.
By accident, I found that Jeremy was capable of much more. One day, Went to the broadcasting classroom to edit a video. On this day, several students were working on an assignment. Then I heard a voice I recognized. I looked up and saw Jeremy was teaching his classmates energetically how to film. My first thought was that Jeremy must have a twin! Suddenly he realized I was sitting in the corner.
Our eyes met. “Mrs. Duff?” he asked with surprise. “You know how to edit video?”
“Yes. I had no idea you were a videographer!” At this, he smiled with pride and explained the project his group was working on. It was clear he had earned his classmates' respect. And it was suddenly clear to me that I had not really made an effort to know Jeremy at all.
What happened next was amazing. In class, Jeremy stayed awake and completed his work. He passed my class with a B.
What happened? When Jeremy encountered me outside English class, it changed his perspective of me. He realized I wasn't just some odd lady trying to force him to learn British poetry. Equally important, my perspective about him changed. He wasn't just the kid who slept in my class.
I'm not proud that I didn't make a better effort to know Jeremy before the encounter in the broadcast room. I told myself I had tried everything, but I had not stepped outside of my little English world at all.
    28、What's the purpose of paragraph1?
A.To draw readers' interest. B.To introduce the author's idea.
C.To remind teachers of teaching traps. D.To ask students to shift learning focus.
29、What did the author do when Jeremy showed lasting boredom in her class?
A.She blamed herself. B.She gave up on him.
C.She kept on persuading him. D.She made teaching more interesting.
30、How did the author feel when she saw Jeremy as a videographer?
    A.Proud. B.Relaxed. C.Regretful. D.Rewarded.
31、What does the author intend to tell us?
A.Why to build a common perspective.
    B.How to transform a student's negative behaviour.
C.Teachers should reach students in individual ways.
D.Students will eventually connect with their teachers.
Have you ever escaped taking on a role or opportunity because you didn’t feel confident enough? Perhaps the voice in your head asked: “Why me? I am not yet ready, not capable enough, or don’t have enough experience.”
If you can relate, you’re among the majority of women with whom I’ve worked. I recently asked more than 120 women, from areas including the U.S., UK, Australia, Georgia, Italy, India, Jamaica, and Bermuda. If you’ve ever avoided risks, what factors and reasons contributed to this? More than 70% reported that selfdoubt, or not having enough belief in themselves, their capabilities, or their skills, was a driving factor.
As one wellknown executive told me: “Every day I doubt myself. I doubt that I am good enough to be where I am.”
This shouldn’t come as a surprise. We know selfdoubt is a pervasive(遍布的) and often paralyzing concern, particularly for women. A study by psychologists at Cornell and Washington State highlighted higher levels of selfdoubt in women. Research has also shown that women will apply for a job only if they meet all of the qualifications, while men will apply when they fulfill only 60%. Another recent study identified a considerable gender gap when it comes to selfpromotion, with women providing less favorable assessments of their own past performance and potential future ability. Finally, men take more chances on themselves, and that pays bonus in the long run.
While this pattern of selfdoubt emerged again and again in studies, my interactions, and my client work, I also noticed another commonality: These women’s selfdoubts weren’t sabotaging their success. The vast majority of successful women leaders I’ve interviewed and coached have built exciting and satisfying careers even while facing selfdoubt.
What these women also had in common is courage in the absence of confidence—a trait that is often weaponized against women and used to explain why they fail to achieve career goals. My work has found that successful women take decisive action to move forward even while grappling with fears and doubts and questioning their own “readiness”.
“As women, we often feel like we have to be 100% ready in order to move forward. But, if you are 50% or 75% there, jump. Just do it,” said Megan Costello, former executive director of the Boston Mayor’s Office for Women’s Advancement.
32、What is the real factor for women to escape taking on a role?
    A. Higher risks. B. Different beliefs. C. Inner feelings. D. Related experiences.
33、What is typical of women in terms of selfpromotion?
    A. They tend to be less optimistic. B. They prefer to be well qualified.
    C. They try to be favorably assessed. D. They hope to be clearly identified.
34、Which can best replace the underlined word “sabotaging” in Paragraph 5?
    A. Promoting. B. Weakening. C. Achieving. D. Balancing.
35、How do women with selfdoubts succeed?
    A. They should be courageous and decisive.
    B. They should keep themselves unprepared.
    C. They should stop questioning their careers.
    D. They should learn from famous executives.

During a vacation one year, my mom and I left our home. We went on a two-week trip to the countryside where my mother had grown up. I was excited because I couldn't wait to see my grandparents. The last time I had visited them was when I was only three years old. I also wished to go sightseeing, ride elephants, and do many more things there. They must be very wonderful.
With great wishes, we arrived at my grandparents' house in the countryside. During the first several days, I stayed in their house for fun. But soon, I got bored. I wondered what adventures were in store for me. One morning I said to my mom, "I really want to go outside to play." My mom replied, "Stephanie, today we're going to a school. The children there are studying in poor conditions. I decided to use some of my own money to buy some school supplies(日用品) for them." Hearing that, I was a bit unhappy. "We can go out and play another day. Today we need to spend a little time helping these poor children," Mom added. I had no choice but to agree.
A few minutes later, my mom drove me to the school. On the way, she said, "We'd first visit the school to know what kind of things these children want most. Then we'll try to buy them." I thought to myself: what a vacation I am having! I come here to go sightseeing, not do charity work.
When we reached the school, I just couldn't believe my eyes. There was only one small building, which looked as if it were a hundred years old. There was no playground, no parking lot ... It was so small; the school I went to back home was a million times bigger. How unlucky the children here were! We met a teacher in the school, and my mom told him the purpose of our visit. The teacher was very glad and thanked us.
    Paragraph 1
Then the teacher guided us into a classroom.
    ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
    Paragraph 2
Holding the shopping list, my mom and I headed for a store.

The first one is Black Friday. This one dates back to the 1950s and falls on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Originally, it started as an event within stores. But now it’s an online and offline shopping festival. Cyber Monday is the Monday after Black Friday, and it’s only for online sales. It began in 2005. Now it’s more successful than Black Friday, earning a record $9.4 billion last year. Sales tend to be on expensive technology items, like computers.
We’re all familiar with Singles Day. It dates back to the 1990s but didn’t become a shopping event until 2009. Since then, it’s become the biggest 24-hour sales event in the world. Last year, this shopping event earned $38.4 billion, beating out Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Prime Day is basically the North American version of Double 11. It was started in 2015. For shoppers like me that love small parts and home devices, Prime is a great time. But it still falls far behind Singles Day and only earned $7.16 billion last year.
    21、答案:A
Summer is the most popular season to visit Texas since there is so much to see and to do.While visiting the Lone Star State this summer, don't miss visiting some of these attractions and taking part in some of Texas' best summer vacation activities. 可知,the Lone Star State是得克萨斯州的别名,故选A。
There are sea life shows,adventure camps,thrilling rides and a water park.
根据第三段With miles of shallow (浅的),calm water in the Lower Laguna Madre and strong winds conning off the Gulf of Mexico,South Padre Island is a windsurfer's dream.
根据第四段的“What had initially seemed like an easy task was turning out to be an intense one.(最初看起来是一项简单的任务,结果却变成了一项艰巨的任务)”可知,一开始作者只给妈妈非常简单的指导是因为作者认为在网上查看菜谱是非常简单的人物。
根据第五段中“However, seeing her embarrassment, I began to regret my impatience.”(然而,看到她的尴尬,我开始后悔我的不耐烦)可知,在作者拿到菜谱之后,妈妈感到非常的尴尬。故选B。
    26、答案:A
根据最后一段“At that moment, memories flashed through my mind. When I was young, my mother endured my endless questions, enlightening me with much patience. Now that I am older, the roles slowly reverse. As my mother may increasingly need my help, shouldn’t I rethink how to respond to her needs?”(那一刻,回忆在我的脑海中闪过。 故选A。
Teachers often can fall into the trap of teaching content, paying no attention to children. Many of us have the attitude that "we will put the information out there, and if they don't get it, they are to blame."(教师往往会陷入教学内容的陷阱,不关注孩子。
As time went on, I ignored Jeremy. I didn't ask him questions, or even make eye contact with him.(随着时间的推移,我忽略了杰里米。
Yes. I had no idea you were a videographer!" At this, he smiled with pride and explained the project his group was working on. It was clear he had earned his classmates' respect. And it was suddenly clear to me that I had not really made an effort to know Jeremy at all.("是的。我都不知道你是摄像师!"听了这话,他自豪地笑了笑,并解释了他的团队正在进行的项目。很明显,他赢得了同学们的尊敬。我突然明白了,我根本没有真正努力去了解杰里米)可推知,当作者看到杰里米是一个摄像师时,她感到很遗憾没有真正去了解杰里米。A.Proud.自豪的;B.Relaxed.放松的;C.Regretful.后悔的;D.Rewarded.
Teachers often can fall into the trap of teaching content, paying no attention to children.(教师往往会陷入教学内容的陷阱,不关注孩子)和最后一段I'm not proud that I didn't make a better effort to know Jeremy before the encounter in the broadcast room. I told myself I had tried everything, but I had not stepped outside of my little English world at all.(在播音室的那次会面之前,我没有花更多的精力去了解杰里米,这并不让我感到骄傲。 C. Teachers should reach students in individual ways.(教师应该以个性化的方式接触学生。)
根据第二段中“More than 70% reported that self-doubt, or not having enough belief in themselves, their capabilities, or their skills, was a driving factor.(超过70%的人报告说,自我怀疑,或者说对自己、自己的能力或技能缺乏足够的信心是一个驱动因素)”可知,女性不愿承担角色的真正原因是内心的感受。故选C。
    33、答案:A
根据第四段中“Another recent study identified a considerable gender gap when it comes to self-promotion, with women providing less favorable assessments of their own past performance and potential future ability.(最近的另一项研究发现,在自我推销方面存在巨大的性别差异,女性对自己过去的表现和未来潜在能力的评价不那么有利)”可知,在自我推销方面,女性的典型特征是往往不那么乐观。故选A。
根据画线词后文“The vast majority of successful women leaders I’ve interviewed and coached have built exciting and satisfying careers even while facing self-doubt.(我采访和指导过的绝大多数成功女性领导者都建立了令人兴奋和满意的职业生涯,尽管她们也面临自我怀疑)”以及上文“These women’s self-doubts weren’t”可知,采访和指导过的绝大多数成功女性领导者都建立了令人兴奋和满意的职业生涯,尽管她们也面临自我怀疑,可见这些女性的自我怀疑并没有削弱她们的成功。
    35、答案:A
根据倒数第二段中“My work has found that successful women take decisive action to move forward even while grappling with fears and doubts and questioning their own “readiness”.(我的研究发现,成功女性即使在与恐惧和怀疑作斗争并质疑自己的“准备程度”时,也会采取果断行动向前迈进)”可知,自我怀疑的女性应该勇敢果断,来取得成功。故选A。

This is why face blindness can cause so much stress. These are much less effective ways to recognize someone. But imagine if you didn't know whether the person approaching you is a friend or a stranger. Do you say hello or just keep on walking? Or imagine not being able to find the teacher when you need to use the toilet, because your teacher wears glasses and none of the adults in the room are wearing glasses today. It's easy to see the effect this would have on your social skills and confidence.
A.make up组成;B.make sense有道理;C.make out看清;D.make it成功地做到。 His heartbeat was nearly gone and the baby had just (3)______ to live."
    38、答案:A
A.improvement好转;B.problem问题;C.advantage优势;D.difficulty困难。 His heartbeat was nearly gone"可知,男孩的情况没有好转。故选A。
    39、答案:A

    52、答案:①arrived②before/earlier③its④that/which⑤paintings⑥by⑦is⑧conducted⑨regularly⑩living
故正确答案为 before/earlier。
空格后 “are pictured by artists in so many Chinese ...” 是定语从句用来修饰 the limestone mountain tops and dark waters of the Li River,定语从句中缺主语,且先行词指物,空格处填入定语从句引导词 that/which。故正确答案为 that/which。
    Dear Paul,
I’m glad to receive your letter asking for my advice on how to learn Chinese well. Here are some suggestions.
To begin with, it is a good idea to take a Chinese course, where you can follow the teachers and get help from your classmates. Besides, reading some Chinese books and magazine will help you to improve your reading ability. You can also watch some Chinese program on TV, which will improve your listening ability. Additionally, to make sure that learning Chinese isn’t too dull, it would be a good idea to learn to sing some Chinese songs. Last but not least, if possible, make some Chinese friends, so that you can learn languages from each other.
I hope you will find my suggestions beneficial and make great progress in Chinese. Looking forward to receiving your letter written in Chinese.
    Yours,
    Li Hua

    Paragraph 1
Then the teacher guided us into a classroom. The classroom was so small, but there were about thirty children sitting in it, making it extremely crowded. I found most of the students wearing worn-out clothes and having no school supplies except some old books and pencils. Immediately, I felt sympathy for them. After the teacher introduced us to them and explained why we came here, all the children were wild with joy and told us the things they had wanted for long, such as school bags, picture books, new pencils and so on. My mom made a list of these things.
    Paragraph 2
Holding the shopping list, my mom and I headed for a store. There I helped my mom pick up the things on the list. To my mother’s surprise, I decided to buy something for the children using my own pocket money, for which my mom praised me a lot. I also added some candies to our supplies. These children were so grateful that they thanked us again and again when receiving the gifts. Some of them started reading the picture books and sharing the candies right away. Seeing their smiling face, I learned doing something meaningful for others could also be a wonderful thing.
