爆破音(即/b/ /p/ /d/ /t/ /g/ /k/)中的任何两个接连出现或任何一个接连出现两次时,前面的爆破音只做发音动作,不发出来,稍作停顿之后,再发后面一个音的现象。
“不完全爆破”:前面单词的末尾音素是爆破音中的任意一个,后面单词的开头音素是除爆破音和/w/, /j/, /h/ 以外的辅音音素,则前面的爆破音做出发音动作,刚发出声音时立即过渡到后一个辅音上。例如:ma(ke) mncakes, g(d) night等。
