考点1 follow的用法
1.follow作及物动词,意为“跟随”,常用搭配:follow sb.to do sth.意为“跟随某人做某事”。
2.follow作动词,还可意为“领会;听懂;沿着……走;听从;遵循”。例如:
I didn’t follow you.Please explain it again.我没听懂你的意思。请再解释一下。
Follow this road until you get to the bridge.沿着这条路走,直到你到达那座桥。
I decide to follow her advice.我决定听从她的意见。
考点2 fall的用法
fall作不及物动词时,意为“下落;跌倒”,常跟介词或副词搭配构成短语。fall的过去式和过去分词分别为fell和fallen。在美式英语中,fall也可用作名词,意为“秋天”。例如:
The house looked as if it was about to fall down.房子看起来好像就要倒塌似的。
He visited me twice that fall and called me on the telephone often.那年秋天他来看过我两次,而且经常给我打电话。

考点3 “次数”的表达法
1.once表示“一次”,twice表示“两次”,而表示三次或三次以上,一般用“基数词+times(次)”结构,如:five times“五次”,ten times“十次”等。“每月一次”表达为“once a month”,中间不用介词in。“一天三次”表达为“three times a day”。
2.对twice,once,sometimes,seldom,usually,never等频度副词提问时,用how often。例如:
—How often do you play computer games?你多久玩一次电脑游戏?
—Once a week.一周一次。

考点4 “What...for...?”的用法
1.“What...for...?”意为“有什么用/为什么?”,当不理解对方的动机或询问对方的目的时,常用此句型,相当于“Why...?”
2.“What...for...?”侧重提问目的,常用动词不定式或for短语回答;“Why...?”侧重提问原因,常用because引导的句子或用动词不定式短语回答。例如:
—What are you sitting on the eggs for?你坐在鸡蛋上干什么?
—To hatch the chicks.为了孵小鸡。
考点5 think about的用法
1.think about后面可接名词、代词或动名词,也可以接宾语从句。该短语作“考虑”讲时,可以和think of互换。

think over
意为“仔细考虑”,后常接名词或代词作宾语。当宾语是代词时,应把代词放在think和over之间。
Think over the matter and then make a decision.这件事情斟酌斟酌再定。
考点6 while的用法
1.while 作连词,意为“当……的时候;在……期间”,其引导的从句多用进行时态。例如:
The telephone rang while I was cooking.我在做饭的时候,电话铃响了。
2.while 作名词,意为“一会儿,一段时间”。常用短语:after a while “过了一会儿”;all the while “始终;一直”;for a while “一会儿”;in a while “不久”。
辨析when和while
(1)when引导的时间状语从句中的动词可以是终止性动词,也可以是延续性动词;而while引导的从句中的动词必须是延续性动词。
(2)when引导的从句的动作和主句的动作可以是同时发生,也可以是先后发生;while强调主从句两个动作同时发生。
(3)when引导时间状语从句时,主句用过去进行时,从句应用一般过去时;如果主句和从句的动作同时发生,两者都用过去进行时,则用while引导时间状语从句。例如:
When the teacher came in,we were talking.=While we were talking,the teacher came in.当老师进来时,我们正在说话。
