Debby also traveled to other cities in Arizona and New Mexico to help people get solar energy. Debby loved her work very much and taught people about solar energy.

二、多任务混合阅读
阅读下面短文,根据短文内容,完成下列各题。
“How was your weekend?” “Did you see the game on TV last night?” “Isn’t the weather beautiful today?” These questions and the answers to them are examples of “small talk”—the short, friendly conversations that people have with friends and partners(同伴).
Some people avoid making small talk at work. They think they shouldn’t talk about things that aren’t important for the job, or their partners will think they aren’t serious about their work. And some people just don’t enjoy making conversations about themselves.
But small talk is important! Knowing how to make small talk is a skill that can help you a lot. By making a conversation, you show that you are friendly and interested in your partners. You become a better team member. If you don’t make small talk, others might feel uncomfortable around you and think you’re unfriendly. Peter Harper, a manager at the Apex Company in the US, says, “We always look for friendly workers who know how to communicate with each other and with our customers.”
Here are some tips for successful small talk. You can talk about safe topics (such as the weather, sports, hobbies, TV programmes, and famous people like movie stars, singers, etc.). You can also share some information about your family such as birthday parties and other family events, but don’t share very personal information like family problems. You can talk about the news, too. But avoid topics on money, age, weight and so on.
Listening is an important part of small talk. Listen carefully to what the other person is saying and ask questions. Don’t just talk about yourself. And remember to smile! Making conversation takes practice. The more you do it the better you’ll be at making small talk!
11.How does the writer start the passage?
He gives some to lead to the topic.
12.What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?
It mainly talks about .
13.What shouldn’t you do when making small talk?
We shouldn’t like family problems or talk about very personal topics.

It refers to .

How to help endangered animals
Because of environmental pollution and climate changes, lots of animals are in great danger now. Then what can we do to help them?
First, we should cut down as few trees as possible and plant more trees because the forest is home to many wild animals. Second, building more nature reserves is very helpful. Third, the government should make laws stop people from killing animals, selling or buying wild animal products. Besides, if we stop polluting water, creatures like fish can live safely.
If we try our best, we will live in harmony with them in the future. So let’s take action to protect animals from now on.
