    Section A(3a—4c)第2课时
    设计说明
    本课时学习有关学习方法的阅读。教学时通过复习“—How do you learn English? —I learn by…”导入新课;采用三步阅读法(fast reading, careful reading和post reading)引导学生逐步理解课文;单元语法教学先让学生通过读——译的方法,让学生感知体验,然后归纳总结,提高学生观察问题、分析问题的能力。
    教学目标
    通过本课时的学习,让学生达成以下目标:
    1.知识目标
    (1) 单词:expression, discover, secret, grammar, repeat, note, physics, chemistry
    (2) 短语:be afraid to do sth., fall in love with, look up, take notes
    (3) 句型:find it +adj.+to do sth., so…that…, so that, It’s a piece of cake., It serves you right.
    2.能力目标
    (1) 读懂魏芬学习英语的困难及她是如何克服它们的。
    (2) 会使用结构:—How do you do…? —By doing sth.
    3.情感目标
    培养学生正确面对学习困难,勇于探索学习方法,努力提升自我,力争成为一名好的学习者。
    重点难点
    1.重点:(1) 理解、认识本课时的重点单词和短语;
    (2) 掌握目标语言by doing并能用其表达学习方式;
    (3) 理解本单元的语法结构及其表意功能。
    2.难点:能在口语中熟练地询问他人学习英语的方法,并将从书中学到的学习方法运用到实际中。

    Step 1 Lead-in
    1. Review the main sentence structures and phrases:
    —How do you study English?
    —I study by working with friends.
    by making word cards.
    by reading the textbook.
    by listening to tapes.
    by asking the teacher for help.

    Step 2 Read
    Fast reading
    Get the students to scan the passage and find the answer to the question:
    How does Wei Fen learn English?
    Answer: By listening to something interesting.
    Careful reading
    Task 1
    Get the students to read the passage carefully and answer the questions.
    1. Why did Wei Fen find it difficult to learn English?
    2. What did she do in English class?
    3.What is the secret to language learning?
    Check the answers one by one.
    The answers are:
    1. The teacher spoke too quickly and Wei Fen did not understand her most of the time, but she was afraid to ask questions because of her poor pronunciation.
    2. She hid behind her textbook and never said anything.
    3. For Wei Fen, the secret to language learning is listening to something interesting.
    Task 2
    Work on 3b. Complete the sentences with what Wei Fen learned from watching movies. Use words and phrases from the passage.

    Task 1
    Get the students to fill in the blanks and then try to retell the passage.
