设计说明

本课时学习有关中国地方特产的写作。教学时先从复习重点单词和短语入手，导入新课，然后讨论地方特产，为写作做好铺垫，帮助学生完成写作任务。通过Self Check的练习，进一步巩固本单元中的重要句型。

教学目标

通过本课时的学习，让学生达成以下目标：

1. 知识目标：

(1)短语：such as, turn... into..., according to, send out, put up

(2)句型：—What is /are… made of ?

—It’s / They are made of…

—Where is / are…made ?

—It’s / They are made in…

2. 能力目标：

(1)熟练掌握一般现在时的被动语态的用法；

(2)学会使用被动语态描述物品。

3. 情感目标：

了解中国制造的产品，热爱中国传统文化，培养民族自豪感。

重点难点

1. 重点：(1)让学生掌握本单元所学被动语态,并能运用这一知识进行造句；

(2)让学生能够总结本单元所学的物质材料及一些艺术品的简单制作过程；

(3)让学生能运用本单元所学的语法及语言材料,用英语介绍自己

熟悉的物品的制作材料及制作过程。

2. 难点：让学生运用所学知识完成介绍某一物品的写作任务。

Step 1 Lead-in

Review some of the important expressions.

Step 2 Work on 3a   

What are some special things that your town / city is famous for? These can be food, artwork or any other products. Discuss them with a partner and take notes.

Show the students a picture of a silk quilt. And get the students to talk about like:

A: What is the product?

B: A silk quilt.

A: What is it made of ?

B: Silk.

A: Who makes it?

B: Silk factory workers.

A: What can it do?

B: It can keep you warm and comfortable.

A: Why is it special?

B: It is made of real silk that is soft, light and comfortable. Also it is decorated with beautiful patterns.

Step 3 Writing

1. Write a paragraph about the product. Use your notes in 3a.

Use the following expressions to help you:

My town/city is famous for…

…is famous in my town/ city.

…is / are made of / from / with/ by / in…

…is / are used for…

…is / are known for…

…is / are special because…

Sample:

My city, Suzhou, is famous for its silk quilts. These quilts are made of pure silk. They are made by skillful workers in many silk factories in the city. The silk quilts are used to keep people warm and comfortable in bed. They are known to be very comfortable because they are light and soft to touch. In addition, they look beautiful as they are decorated with beautiful patterns. Many people from all over the world come to Suzhou to visit the silk factories and buy not only the silk quilts but also many other silk products.

2. Group work

Now work in groups. Discuss and one student in the group will give us a report. Step 4 Self Check

1. List some things you use every day. Write down what they are made of/ from and where they were made.

2. Use the information above to write full sentences.

e. g. Chopsticks are made of wood. They were made in Jiangxi.

3. Complete the sentences using the correct forms of the words in brackets.

(3) The underground parking lot _________ (close) at midnight every day.
