    Section A (1a—2d) 1课时

    设计说明

    本课时学习发明的相关对话。教学时给学生展示一些卡片,从谈论中国古代的四大发明入手导入新课,接着展示有关历史上重要发明的图片并做讨论,过渡到活动1a,从而进入教材的学习。然后由听力入手,进入活动1b—1c2a2c的学习。通过听对话配对、听对话填表格、练习对话等活动,使学生理解对话内容。最后,阅读2d的内容,要求学生理解对话,回答问题,解决问题。通过2d了解拉链的有关知识。

    教学目标

    通过本课时的学习,让学生达成以下目标:

    1. 知识目标:

    (1)单词:heel, scoop, electricity, style, project, pleasure, zipper, daily, website, pioneer, list, mention

    (2)短语: be used for, with pleasure, in our daily lives, have a point, at that time

    (3)句型:—When was … invented?

                —I think it was invented in…

                —What is/are…used for?

                —It is/They are used for...

    2. 能力目标:

    (1)听并用被动语态谈论重要的发明及其历史和用途;

    (2)学会运用被动语态谈论发明物的历史,描述物品的用途。

    3. 情感目标:

    通过学习了解人类历史上的部分重要发明,培养爱科学、学科学的思想。

    重点难点

    1.重点:一般过去时的被动语态。

    2.难点:运用一般过去时的被动语态来讨论某件物品的发明时间及用途。

    教学过程

    Step 1 Lead-in

    1. First, show the students some pictures about four great inventions of ancient China.

    2. Then show the students some pictures about modern inventions.

    Ask: Do you know what these inventions are?

    3. Get the students to match the inventions with the right inventors.

    4. Present the following sentences.

    Bell invented the first telephone in 1876.

    The first telephone was invented (by Bell) in 1876.

    Karl Benz invented the first car in 1886.

    The first car was invented (by Karl Benz) in 1886.

    J. L. Baird invented the first television in 1925.

    The first television was invented (by J. L. Baird) in 1925.

    5. Get the students to practice the sentences. And then make sentences with the sentence structures.

    Step 2 Work on 1a

    Look at the things below. In what order do you think they were invented? Discuss them with your group. Then number them [1-4](1=first, 4=last).

    Talk about with your partner.

    Step 4 Listening

    1. Listen and match the inventions with the years.

    2. Listen again and underline the sentences with passive voice. Pay attention to their structure: was /were+及物动词的过去分词.

    3. Explain.

    年份的读法:

    两个数字一组,分为前后两组

    1865  eighteen sixty-five

    1989  nineteen eighty-nine

    千年的读法:

    2000  two thousand

    2001  two thousand and one

    前两个数字不为零,后两个数字为零:

    1800  eighteen hundred

    1900  nineteen hundred 

    非四位数的年份的读法:

    531   five hundred and thirty-one      

    Step 5 Pair work

    Work on 1c.

    Student B, cover the dates. Student A, ask Student B when the things in the picture in 1b were invented. Then change roles and practice again.

    A: When was the telephone invented?

    B: I think it was invented in 1876.

    Step 6 Listening

    1. Listen and number the inventions[1-3] in the order you hear them.

    Check the answers.

    Answers: 3 1 2

    2. Listen again and complete the chart below.

    4. Listen again and pay attention to the structure “be used for”.

    Step 7 Pair work

    Make conversations using the information in 2b.

    A: What are the shoes with lights used for?

    B: They’re used for seeing in the dark.

    Step 8 Role-play the conversation

    1. Show the students a picture and ask:

    What’s this?

    (Zipper. )

    Where can you see it?

    (Pants, trousers, bags, backpacks, shoes, suitcases, etc. )

    Role-play the conversation.

    2. Read the passage quickly and answer the questions.

    (1)Who invented the zipper?

    (2)When was the zipper invented? 

    (3)When was it used widely?

    Check the answers one by one.

    Answers:

    (1) It was invented by Whitcomb Judson.

    (2) It was invented in 1893.

    (3) It was used widely around 1917.

    3. Read and translate.

    (1) 拉链是在1893年被惠特科姆·贾德森发明的。
