本课时通过引导学生自由谈论, 导入本课时所学内容。通过让学生完成速读、细读、读后的各项任务, 帮助学生理清文章脉络结构, 把握文章细节内容。通过设置小组活动练习, 让学生学会运用所学语言, 谈论法国和中国不同的餐桌礼仪, 达到学以致用的目的。通过知识点讲解, 给学生答疑解惑, 帮助学生掌握所学语言点; 通过课堂达标训练, 检测学生本课时的掌握情况。
教学目标
通过本课时的教学, 让学生达成以下目标:
1. 知识目标
(1)掌握本课时新单词及短语: basic, exchange, teenage, granddaughter, behave, except, elbow, gradually, go out of one’s way, make…feel at home, get used to。
(2)掌握重点句子:
① I was a bit nervous before I arrived here, but there was no reason to be.
② They go out of their way to make me feel at home.
③ Another example is that you’re not supposed to eat anything with your hands except bread, not even fruit.
④ I have to say that I find it difficult to remember everything, but I’m gradually getting used to it.

1. Free talk. Ask the students to talk about the questions.
Have you ever been abroad?
What do you think is the biggest challenge when visiting a foreign country?
(The students’ possible answers: Language./Traffic rules./Eating habits./Table manners…)
2. Finish 2a. Ask the students to work in groups.
What do you know about customs in foreign countries? What do you think is the biggest challenge when visiting a foreign country?
e. g. My cousin went to America, and she said that learning basic table manners was her biggest challenge. She never knew what she was supposed to do at the dinner table.

There is/was no reason (for sb. ) to do sth. 意为“(某人)没有理由做某事”。
There is no reason for us to be late. 我们没有理由迟到。
There is no reason for me to do that. 我没有理由做那件事。
2. They go out of their way to make me feel at home. 他们尽力使我感到宾至如归。
(1) go out of one’s way 意为“特地; 格外努力”, 后跟to do sth.。
They go out of their way to serve all the passengers.
他们想方设法为全体乘客服务。
She goes out of her way to study English.
她格外努力地学习英语。
(2) make sb. feel at home意为“使某人感到宾至如归”。
His kindness makes me feel at home.
他的善良使我感到宾至如归。
3. Another example is that you’re not supposed to eat anything with your hands except bread, not even fruit. 另一个例子是除了面包外, 你不应该用手拿着东西吃, 甚至水果也不行。
except作介词, 意为“除……之外”。表示把某人或某物从某一范围内排除出去, 即except后的内容不包含在内。
We all went to the museum last Sunday except Tom. 除了汤姆外, 上周日我们都去博物馆了。
【拓展】 besides意为“除……之外(还有) ”。表示除了某人或某物外, 还有其他人或物, 即besides后的内容包含在内。
Tony and I went to the museum last Sunday besides Tom.
除了汤姆外, 上周日我和托尼也去博物馆了。
4. I have to say that I find it difficult to remember everything, but I’m gradually getting used to it. 不得不说, 我发现记住所有的事情是困难的, 但是我正在逐渐习惯这些事情。
(1) “find it +adj. +to do sth. ”为固定结构, 意为“发现做某事是……的”。其中it为形式宾语, 真正的宾语是后面的动词不定式to do sth. 。
I find it difficult to learn math well. 我发现学好数学很难。
He finds it relaxing to listen to music. 他发现听音乐是令人放松的。
(2) 辨析: get/be used to (doing) sth. , used to do sth. 与be used to do sth.
