设计说明 本课时通过给学生展示一组有关意想不到的事件的图片,让学生结对练习讨论,激发他们的学习兴趣。通过听力练习,提升学生获取关键信息的能力。通过朗读对话和完成故事结局,引导学生学习对话,培养学生阅读与交际的能力。指导学生学习对话中出现的知识点,加深对对话的理解,不断积累英语知识。最后,通过设置的对应练习,检查和巩固学生所学的基础知识和形成的语言技能。 教学目标 通过本课时的学习,让学生达成以下目标: 1.知识目标 (1)单词:unexpected, backpack, oversleep (2)短语:by the time…, give… a lift (3)句型:①By the time I …, … ②When I …, … ③Before I …, … 2.能力目标 (1)能听懂谈论过去发生的突发事件的对话; (2)学会用过去完成时谈论日常生活中的意外事件。 3.情感目标 学会合理安排时间,增强做事的计划性。 重点难点 重点:掌握重点词汇及句式 难点:用过去完成时谈论日常生活中的意外事件 教学准备 PPT课件;1b,2a,2b和2d的音频 授课时数 1课时 教学过程 Step 1 Warming up Show the students some pictures and ask them to talk about the pictures in English.
Sample: S1: What do you think of the man in picture 1? S2: He looks very surprised. … Step 2 Presentation Work on 1a. 1. Ask the students to look at the pictures and guess what happened to the girl. 2. Ask them to say something according to each picture.
3. Explain some important language points of this part. Step 3 Listening Work on 1b. 1. Before listening, ask the students to read the sentences and try to guess the missing words. 2. Ask them to listen to the recording and complete the sentences. 3. Listen to the recording again and ask the students to check their answers in 1a. 4. Check the answers. Answers: 1. had, gotten 2. had, left 3. had left 5. Ask the students to listen again and correct the wrong words. Step 4 Practice (Activity 1c) 1. Show the pictures in Activity 1a. 2. Ask some students to take turns being Mary and talk about what happened this morning. Sample: A: What happened? B: I overslept. By the time I got up, my brother had already gotten in the shower. 3. Encourage some of the students to show their conversations in front of the class. Step 5 Listening Work on 2a. 1. Before listening, ask the students to look at the pictures and guess the correct order. 2. Play the recording and ask the students to listen carefully for the correct order. 3. Check the answers. Answers: Step 6 Filling and listening Work on 2b. 1. Ask the students to fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the verbs in brackets on their own. 2. Check answers in groups. 3. Listen to the recording again and check the answers. 4. Show the typescript to the class if necessary. Answers: 1. got, had left 2. got, had rung 3. walked, had started 5. Ask the students to retell the whole story. Show all the pictures to help them. Step 7 Further practice Work on 2c. 1. Ask each student to make up an ending for the story. 2. Ask the students to share the endings with their partners. Step 8 Reading Work on 2d. 1. Play the recording of the conversation. 2. Ask the students to read the conversation after the recording. 3. Explain some important language points of this part. 4. Ask them to read the conversation on their own. 5. Role-play the conversation in pairs. 6. Divide the class into several groups and ask them to take turns to role-play Matt and Kevin. Decide which group does the best. Step 9 Language points 1. Life is full of the unexpected. 生活充满了意外。 unexpected adj. 出乎意料的;始料不及的 (1)否定前缀un-+expected→ unexpected I’m surprised at the unexpected news. 听到这个意外的消息,我很惊讶。 (2) the unexpected意为“意外;意想不到的事情”。在英语中,有些形容词与定冠词连用,表示一类人或事物,在句子中起到名词的作用。 the old 老年人 the poor 贫穷的人 the homeless 无家可归的人 the sick病人 2. I overslept.我睡过头了。 oversleep(overslept, overslept) 动词,意为“睡过头;睡得太久”,复合词中的over常有“过于……”之意。 Don’t oversleep, Dean! You are to be late.迪恩,别睡过头了!你要迟到了。 3. By the time I got up, my brother had already gotten in the shower. 在我起床之前,我哥哥已经进了淋浴间。 by the time意为 “在……以前”,引导时间状语从句,后面通常接表示过去的时间状语从句,主句常用过去完成时,谓语动词形式为: had+动词过去分词。 By the time I got there, he had already left. 在我到那儿之前,他已经离开了。 4. My alarm clock didn’t go off!我的闹钟没有响! go off是动词短语,此处意为“(闹钟等)发出响声”。 The alarm clock went off suddenly when I was sleeping. 我正在睡觉,我的闹钟突然响了。 5. So I just quickly put on some clothes and rushed out of the door. 于是我快速穿上衣服冲出了门口。 rush out of 是固定短语,意为“冲出去, 冲出……”。 Henry picked up his hat and rushed out of the room. 亨利拿起帽子,冲出了房间。 6. Luckily, Carl’s dad saw me on the street and gave me a lift in his car. 幸运的是,卡尔的父亲在街上看见我,捎了我一程。 (1) luckily 副词,意为“幸运地”,位于句子开头作状语,修饰整个句子。 Luckily, he didn’t hurt badly. 幸运的是,他没有伤得很重。 [拓展] luck(运气)—lucky(幸运的)—luckily(幸运地) 名词 形容词 副词 (2) give sb. a lift是固定短语,意为“捎某人一程”。 Could you give me a lift, please? 请问你能否捎我一程?
