设计说明 本课时通过几张图片和对April Fool’s Day的简单讨论引入课堂学习,让同学们初步了解本课要谈论的话题;接着处理教材1a内容,强化学生对词性的认识;再通过1b的会话练习提升学生的语言表达能力,复习巩固本单元新学语法;1c和1d两部分是听力练习,1c练习学生对对话中人物的把握,1d练习学生对对话中关键信息的把握;1e部分是对前面听力材料的延伸训练,通过对话的方式谈论所听内容,是一个由输入变为输出的过程;最后通过习题检测学生的学习效果。 教学目标 通过本课时的学习,让学生达成以下目标: 1.知识目标 (1)单词:fool, costume, embarrassed (2)短语:costume party (3)句型:What happened to sb.? 2.能力目标 通过听力练习,提高捕捉信息的能力;能够运用所学的功能语言谈论愚人节发生的事情。 3.情感目标 了解西方文化,拓宽视野。 重点难点 重点:语言信息的实时捕捉;语言的理解与运用 难点:对听力材料的理解与运用 教学准备 PPT课件;1c,1d的录音 授课时数 1课时 教学过程 Step 1 Lead-in Show the students a short video about an April Fool’s Day story. And ask them some questions. T: Have you heard of April Fool’s Day? S: Yes, I have. T: What do you know about April Fool’s Day? S: … Step 2 Speaking Work on 1a. 1. Ask the students to read the words in the box and make sure they can read all the words correctly. 2. Ask the students to put the words in the correct columns in the chart. Tell them that some words can go in more than one column. 3. Check the answers. Answers:
Step 3 Pair work Work on 1b. 1. Ask the students to tell their partners about something that happened to themselves. Try to use as many words in 1a as possible. You can begin your story like this: Last Friday night, my friend invited me to his birthday party… 2. Encourage some students to tell their stories. Step 4 Listening Task 1 1. Ask the students to look at the pictures in 1c first and then guess what happened on April Fool’s Day.
2. Play the recording and ask students to listen and write each person’s name under the correct picture. 3. Check the answers. Answers: b. Joe c. Nick d. Dave Task 2 Listen again and fill in the blanks.
Answers: went, dressed, empty, showed, fooled Task 3 Listen again and fill in the blanks in correct forms of the given words.

Did you fool someone or were you fooled by someone? How did you feel when someone fooled you? What did he or she do when you fooled by him/her? Do you think it is good to fool someone? Step 6 Group work Work on 1e. Ask the students to tell April Fool’s Day stories in groups. Use the information in 1c and 1d. A: What happened to Dave on April Fool’s Day? B: Well, a friend invited him to a costume party… Step 7 Language points 1. fool n. 傻瓜;蠢人;受骗者 vt. 愚弄,欺骗 He was fooled by his friend on April Fool’s Day. 愚人节那天他被他的朋友愚弄了。 2. show up赶到;露面 We waited until five o’clock, but he did not show up. 我们一直等到5点,但是他始终没有露面。 3. embarrassed adj.窘迫的;害羞的 She looked a bit embarrassed. 她看起来有点尴尬。 [拓展] embarrassing adj. 使人尴尬的,令人为难的 That was an embarrassing situation for her. 那种情形让她难堪。 注意:通常情况下,-ing形式表示“令人……的”;-ed形式表示“(人)感到……的”。embarrass 动词,意为“使窘迫”。embarrassed常用于描述人,通常作表语。embarrassing常用于描述事物,作定语或表语。 4. stay up 熬夜 I stayed up to write the report last night. 昨晚我熬夜写报告了。 Step 8 Homework Preview 2b on Page 94. 板书设计
