教学目标： At the end of the class, the students will be able to: 1.learn new words: pronounce, increase, speed… 2.listen to 1c and 1d, then complete them. 3.listen to the difficulties and find the solutions to them. 4.develop the abilities to solve problems.
教学重点： 1. Key vocabulary: pronounce, increase, speed, partner... increase the reading speed, make mistakes, spoken English... 2. Key sentences: a. -I don't know how to increase my reading speed. -You should read more books and remember more words. b. I don't know enough words to write well. 3. structure: can/can’t/should/shouldn’t+v.
教学难点： How to express the challenges and give advice in the listening and speaking practice.

Step 1 Warming-up (PPT3-6)		Ask Ss to have a discussion about difficulties in learning English. Do you have difficulties in learning English? What things are difficult for you? If they can’t say them, they can look at the pictures on the ppt. Show the difficulties to the class and guide Ss to talk about ways to solve them.				通过讨论学习英语过程中的困难，引出一些熟悉的短语和句型。考查学生是否能运用所给的图片和提示词来表达自己的学习困惑。
Step 2 Presentation (PPT 7-8)		Work on 1a. Learning English can be difficult. What things are difficult for you? Make Ss read the list and check the statements that are true. Learn the words and phrases:pronounce，increase，speed,increase my reading speed. Work on 1b. Guide Ss to think about other difficulties in learning English and make a list.				通过学生讨论和总结列出学生学习英语的困难，并从中学习单词和短语。
Step 3 Listening (PPT 9-10)		Work on 1c,1d. 1.Play the tape for Ss to listen and complete the learning challenges Paul talks about. Then check answers. 2.Play the tape for the second time and make Ss complete the solutions. Then check answers.				训练学生的听力水平以及学生对所学知识的口头表达。通过训练，使学生学会思考并寻找解决方法。
Step 4 Role-play and practice (PPT 11-12)		Work on 1e. 1.Ask Ss to make a conversation using the informationin 1c and 1d. 2.Role -play the conversation.				这是一个听力输入之后，口语输出的展示。创造真实的语言环境，为学生的口语训练搭建平台。
