In the small villages of Kenya, Africa, most kids want to read books. But no roads lead to their homes, only miles and miles of sand. Cars and trucks are useless. So library books arrive on the backs of camels. Camels can deal with the sand and the books. Two camels, a camel driver, and a librarian walk to the villages. One camel carries about 400 pounds of books, and the other carries a tent. At each village, the librarian sets up the tent and displays the books inside. Two weeks later, the camels return with new books.
Some people in the mountains and forests of northern Thailand get books in a different way. Their “libraries” are carried by elephants. These strong animals can deal with the difficult journey. Because of their size, they can carry heavy lots of books in metal boxes. The metal protects the books from the heavy rains that fall in the area.
Indonesia has its own problems. This country is made up of over 17,000 islands. Therefore, most people travel by boat, and so do their library books. A wooden library boat holds about 500 books packed in boxes. Boxes of books are left in villages and are traded for new books a few weeks later.
For people who live in an area faraway and can’t get to a library, a library that comes to them brings more than books. It brings a whole world of information.

“Grandma, I’m home!” Denzel shut the door behind him, dropped his heavy schoolbag on the sofa, and headed straight for the kitchen, as he always did after school.
“Grandma?” Denzel called, surprised she wasn’t standing in the kitchen preparing dinner. “She must be upstairs,” he thought to himself, so he took an apple, and began to do his homework.
Feeling nervous, he decided to check upstairs for her. Her door was halfway open, so he quietly knocked and pushed it open. “Grandma?” Denzel said softly.
“Grandma!” Denzel shouted with fear in his voice. Denzel noticed his grandmother lying on the floor next to her bed. In no time, he ran to her side to check on her.
Just weeks before, a paramedic had visited Denzel’s health class at school, and he had talked about what to do in case of an emergency (紧急情况) just like this one. Denzel remembered what he had learned and jumped into action. When his grandmother did not respond, Denzel ran to the phone and called 911.
A dispatcher (调度员) calmed Denzel and asked him to stay on the line while he waited for the paramedics to arrive. As they waited, the dispatcher gave Denzel some instructions and asked him to perform CPR (心肺复苏). Thankfully, the paramedic had taught his class how to do CPR during the class visit!
The paramedics arrived quicker than Denzel had expected, and they began taking care of his grandmother and took her to the hospital.

Red wolves have a coat that is a mix of brown and red, and their size is smaller than that of a grey wolf. Most people first learn about them when they discover that they are in danger of dying out.
On April 21, 2022, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service(FWS) announced some good news for these endangered animals. Six red wolf pups(幼仔) had been born in the wild. This marks the first time these pups have been born in the wild since 2018.
Long ago, red wolves could commonly be found in the southeast of the U. S. But as the wolves were hunted, and more and more land was taken over for cities, roads and farms, the wolves began to die out.
In 1973, there were only about 17 red wolves remaining in the wild. The FWS carried out the Red Wolf Recovery Program to protect them. Fourteen of the 17 red wolves were caught and kept in captivity(人工圈养) . By 1980, no red wolves were found in the wild, so people believed that they were extinct there.
Luckily, the wolves did well in captivity, and their numbers continued to grow. Soon the FWS began releasing(放生) red wolves back into the wild. Between 1987 and 1994, the recovery program released 60 adult(成年的) red wolves.
Over time, those wolves spread out, paired up and began to have pups. In 2008, there were 47 wild pups born. By 2012, red wolf numbers had hit a new high point of about 120 wolves in the wild.
Sadly, though, wild red wolf numbers began to drop again. Some wolves were shot, and others were hit by cars. As the number of adults fell, the number of pups being born also began to drop. In 2018, a total of four pups were born in the wild. In 2019, 2020 and 2021, no wild pups were born at all.
So the news of the six new pups born in the wild in 2022 was of great importance. However, this good news wasn’t an accident. The FWS has been working hard to increase the number of red wolves in the wild and the protection of the new pups has already begun.
61.We can know from the text that red wolves ________.
A.are usually red and black B.face great danger of dying out
C.are much bigger than grey wolves D.have moved into the US in recent years
62.What does the underlined word “extinct” in Paragraph 4 mean in Chinese?

A.Their home was destroyed by humans. B.Few of them paired up and had pups.
C.Most of them were killed by other animals. D.They were shot by humans or hit by cars.
64.The picture in the text probably shows the number of ________.
A.red wolves in captivity B.red wolves remaining in nature
C.red wolf pups being born in the wild D.adult red wolves released into the wild
65.Why does the writer say “this good news wasn’t an accident”?
A.The FWS has made great efforts to protect red wolves.
B.It’s easy for the red wolves to have pups in the wild.
C.Six red wolves were released into the wild in 2022.
D.The increase of wild red wolves depends on nature.

According to recent studies, many teenagers are getting just over six hours’ sleep, rather than the nine hours they need. 66 Lifestyle changes may be the cause, including staying up late to play online games or use social media.

Our Spring Field Trip
Our spring field trip was very pleasant. We lost ourselves in the beauty of nature and relaxed our mind and body.
On May 7th, we arrived at the East Lake Park at 9 a. m. and returned home at 4 p. m. During the trip, the boys preferred boating and cycling while the girls enjoyed flying kites and taking photos. The lakeside was full of our laughter. After the wonderful picnic, we went to pick tomatoes. It was such great fun that we’ve never had before!
