When Oliver, 12, and Lily Grueser, 10, realized their school lessons would be moving online, they had a big decision to make: What part of their home would they let their classmates see over a webcam (网络摄像头)? “Lily and I didn’t want people to see much of our house,” Oliver says. Finally, they decided to share a guest bedroom, where other students wouldn’t know if they’d made their beds.
As closed classrooms have given way to online lessons, many other students have to make the same decision like Oliver and Lily. For Leighann Hercules, the idea of 30 classmates seeing inside her home every day was not fun at first. She says, “I was kind of nervous.” To make herself more comfortable, she chose to set up her workstation in the corner of her bedroom so that only a small part of her room could be seen. “It’s also strange to randomly (随机地) see something and someone you never knew before,” she adds.
That includes teachers. Federico Lesmes, 15, has taken a ton of video lessons over the last few months. He says, “I have seen my teachers in pajamas (睡衣), sports clothes or strange T-shirts. That was an experience.”
After months of online lessons, all the students are feeling less nervous and more excited about what they’ve learned about their classmates. For Oliver, he has found out that he has more in common with other students than he realized. Lily has discovered that a lot of people have a larger family than she knew. And Leighann is getting to know more about her classmates’ sense of style (时尚感) since they no longer have to wear the uniforms (校服). “You’re learning new things about people,” Federico says. “We’ve got a little closer.”
24.What did Oliver, Lily and Leighann have in common?
A.They are the same age. B.They set up a workstation at home.
C.They have never invited their classmates home. D.They didn’t want their classmates to see much of their house.
25.For Federico, the online lessons _______.
A.gave him a better sense of style B.inspired him to learn from his classmates
C.helped him know more about his teachers D.made him realize the importance of family
26.To know how the students feel about taking online lessons now, you can read _______.

27.The writer develops the passage by _______.

Andrea’s big day was finally here. She had been accepted into the medical school of her dreams in Boston and was about to fly there to begin her new life. She had gotten the news of her acceptance two months before, but she was so busy preparing for the move that she hadn’t had time to realize how nervous she was. It wasn’t until it was time for her to get up from the plane seat that she realized her legs were shaking, her heart was racing, and her forehead was sweating (出汗). And everyone’s accents (口音) seemed completely different, and the people even seemed taller than normal. “Pull yourself together!” she kept repeating to herself the whole way to her new apartment. She had worked so hard to get here, and she knew that she had nothing to be afraid of.
As she looked out of her new living room window, the world outside looked much too scary to face. Having grown up on the West Coast her whole life, she was not prepared for how everything looked here. The warm, bright sun that she was so used to seeing out this time of year was nowhere to be seen.
She decided to stay in the safety of her apartment that night and didn’t go outside until it was time for her class the following afternoon. As the professor asked some basic questions to see what level everyone was at, Andrea’s mind went completely blank (空白的).“Oh no!” she thought to herself. “I’m not even supposed to be here! Everyone knows so much more than me.” Just then, the professor pointed at her and asked her a question about the functions of the spinal cord (脊髓的功能). Though she was nervous, the answer just came out of her mouth. “Wonderful!” said the professor. “You look kind of nervous, but don’t worry about a thing—you’ll do just great here,” she added. As the professor walked away, Andrea smiled. She started enjoying everything around this new, strange world.
28.When did Andrea start to realize she was nervous?
A.When she got the news of her acceptance. B.As soon as she got to her new apartment.
C.When she was preparing for the move. D.As soon as she arrived in Boston.
29.Why did Andrea keep telling herself, “Pull yourself together!”?
A.To calm herself down. B.To make herself comfortable.
C.To cheer herself up. D.To keep herself healthy.
30.What is Paragraph 2 mainly about?
A.How Andrea felt at school. B.What Andrea did at school.
C.How Andrea found her apartment. D.What Andrea saw from her apartment.
31.What can we learn from the last paragraph?
A.Andrea couldn’t answer the question. B.The professor was strict with her students.
C.Andrea took a surprise test the following day. D.The professor was trying to help Andrea relax.
We’ve all seen the beautiful photos of colorful vegetables and freshly-baked cakes in books and magazines. When we see these pictures, we believe that if we follow the instructions that tell us how to cook them, we can make food that looks like that too. However, not many people realize the strange things that photographers (摄影师) use to change a simple plate of food into the ▲ dishes in the photos.
Food is one of the most difficult subjects for photographers. Hot food goes cold, cold food goes dry, and frozen food melts, making it useless. But don’t worry, because food photographers have the tools to deal with these problems. They don’t just visit photography shops. They also visit art shops, garages, and pharmacies (汽车修理厂和药店). As well as camera equipment, a photographer’s bag includes motor oil (机油) to help sauces (调味汁) look brighter, hairspray (发 胶) to stop cakes looking dry, and a spoonful of shoe polish to help meat look cooked.
There are a few rules about food that photographers have to follow. If a photo is going to become part of an advertisement (广告), rules say the food which people want to advertise must be the real thing. However, any other food in the photo doesn’t need to be real. Plastic “fruit” or glass “ice” in a drink next to the real dessert is acceptable, according to the rules. Of course, some photographers choose not to use non-food objects in their photos, even when the rules allow it, but that does make their job much more challenging.
Whether a food photographer believes in using tricks or not, one thing is true: food photography needs a lot of patience.
32.Which of the following words can be put in the “ ▲ ”?
A.Face-saving. B.Life-changing. C.Mouth-watering. D.Peace-loving.
33.How many problems are mentioned for food photographers to deal with in Paragraph 2?

34.What can the motor oil in a photographer’s bag do?

C.Help meat look cooked. D.Keep dessert looking real.
35.What’s the passage mainly about?

C.The history of food photographers. D.The problems of food photographers.
五、阅读还原6选5
Cities are often noisy and dirty, and many people prefer the peaceful countryside, with open fields and trees. 36 In cities, there are jobs, exciting things to do and plenty of new people to meet. Some architects(建筑师)are now trying to bring the countryside into the city by creating “green skyscrapers(摩天大楼)”.
The Bosco Verticale in Milan, Italy, is a skyscraper which tries to create a “forest in the sky”. 37 One is over 110 meters high and the other is around 80 meters high. Inside, it is mainly apartments, but there’re also some offices. The special thing about this skyscraper is that there are hundreds of trees and smaller plants, growing all over it.
38 There are problems with planting trees so high up — not all kinds of trees can live in the strong winds at this height. Also, someone has to look after the plants, water them and cut them from time to time. This could be a lot of work.
But green skyscrapers also bring a lot of benefits(益处). The trees and plants clean the air, keep the apartments cool in hot weather and reduce(减少)the noise that people hear inside the building. 39 Some architects believe that over the next 20 years green buildings could change the looks of our cities.
Recently, I visited Singapore, and stayed in the Parkroyal on Pickering hotel. This hotel is a great example of a green skyscraper. The building is covered in plants, and there is a “sky garden”. 40 There are plants everywhere, and I was amazed that there are even indoor waterfalls! Rooms aren’t cheap, but the price is worth paying to get the chance to get away from the noise and dirt outside and enjoy a little bit of the countryside in the heart of the city.
A.It was completed in 2014 and is made of two towers.
B.However, there are many good reasons to live in cities.
C.At the Bosco Verticale, a special team takes care of the plants.
D.Skyscrapers like this are more difficult and expensive to build.
E.In the garden, guests can sit and enjoy views(景色)of the city.
F.More importantly, they are much nicer to look at than the usual metal and glass.

How to Get On Well with Our Parents?
It’s very important for us to get on well with our parents. But how can we get along well with them?
We should understand and respect our parents. Parents talk much because they care about us. We are supposed to listen to them. We should also talk with them about our happiness and tell them our problems. When we are free, we’d better help them do some things. When they have their birthdays, we can make them some little gifts to make them happy.
As for me, I enjoy sharing everything with my parents. My parents are proud when I do things well and they try their best to help me when I have trouble.
Let’s get on well with them because they are our parents. They are the ones who love us the most.
