    Module 3 Heroes Unit 3 Language in use (2)一、教学目标1. 复习本模块所学的重点单词和词组。2. 掌握becausesoso that引导的状语从句的用法。3. 能够听懂有关英雄人物故事的听力材料,并提取关键信息。4. 能够读懂有关英雄人物故事的短文并完成相关练习。5. 能够分析并写关于英雄人物的文章。6. 拓展视野,了解不同领域不同人物的人生,给予自身一些启发,向英雄人物学习,培养正确的人生观、价值观和世界观。二、教学重点及难点重点:1. 听懂有关英雄人物故事的听力,并提取关键信息。2. 读懂有关英雄人物故事的短文并完成相关练习。难点:分析并写一篇关于英雄人物的文章。三、教学准备多媒体课件四、教学过程Step I Revision1. T shows three tables to help Ss review the usages of the adverbial clauses.2. Ss complete the sentences with because, so or so that then check the answers.(1) A: Is Bill at school today?  B: No. He is at home ________he has a bad cold.(2) Speak to them slowly _________ they may understand you better.(3) They are _________ young _________they can’t do too much work.(4) It is raining hard, __________ we have to stay at home. (5) The shop is _________ far away ________ I can’t get there on foot.3. Ss complete the passage and check the answers with Ss.We know that Hua Mulan lived about 1,500 years ago. The army wanted her father to fight in a war, but her father could not go (1) _________ he was old and ill. Hua Mulan’s brother was very young (2) ________ he could not fight. Hua Mulan dressed as a man (3) _________ she could fight in the army. She fought in the army for many years (4) ________ people didn’t know she was a woman. They only learnt that she was a woman many years later.设计意图:通过复习上节课所学的语法点内容,唤起学生对所学知识的记忆,为下面的听力、阅读及写作做铺垫。Step Ⅱ PracticeActivity 61. Ss look at the picture and predict what they will hear.2. Ss listen and choose the correct answer.3. Ss listen again and check the answers.设计意图:通过较简单的听力活动,在学生已经熟悉英雄人物这一话题的基础上,锻炼其提取细节信息的能力。Activity 7Task 1(1) Ss read the passage and choose the best title.(2) T plays the recording and lets Ss read after it.(3) T checks the answers in the whole class. Task 2Ss answer the question from memory.What does the writer learn from Odysseus?Task 3(1) Ss number the events in the order they happen.(2) Ss check the answers in pairs and then T checks the answers together. 设计意图:通过完成不同形式的阅读人物,帮助学生掌握阅读技巧,锻炼阅读理解能力的同时,培养学生的自主学习能力和合作探究能力。Language points1. Then they set off for home. 然后他们出发回家。set off意为“开始旅程3. ... but he manages to get away. ……但是他成功逃脱了。get away意为“离开,脱身;逃掉;抽身 4. ... ten more years on the way home... ……又经过十年的回家之路……on one’s way to+地点,意为“在某人去某地的路上注意:地点是homethere等地点副词时,省略to 5. I also learn from him that great men never give up, no matter what difficulties they face. 我也从他们身上学到了伟人无论面对什么艰难险阻都从不放弃(的精神)。no matter与疑问词who, what, where, when, how, if, whether等连用,意无论,不管设计意图:语言点的学习,帮助学生进一步理解语篇内容。Around the world1. Ss look at the picture and answer the questions.Who is she? Can you say something about her?2. Ss read the short passage and finish the table according to the time words.A famous British nurseName: Florence NightingaleExperiences:182018511854185619103. Ss check their answers with their partners.4. T chooses some Ss to say their answers. It’s better for them to retell the information without looking at the book. 设计意图:通过有关著名护士——南丁格尔人物介绍的拓展阅读,帮助学生开拓视野。看图说话,锻炼学生的口语表达能力;小组活动帮助学生进一步熟悉短文内容,并培养合作探究能力。Step III ProductionModule taskWriting about a heroActivity 8T asks Ss to work in pairs to make a list of the heroes they can think of.First, think of heroes from different areas (sport, environmental protection) or different careers (writer, scientist), etc.Second, list their heroes.Activity 91. Ss discuss with their partner and choose the hero who they both think is the greatest.2. T asks Ss to write down everything they know about their hero.3. Ss find out more facts about their hero in books, newspapers and on the Internet. They can also ask their parents or the T for more information.Activity 10&111. T help Ss analyze the writing ideas before writing.2. After writing, Ss exchange their passages in pairs and help correct mistakes.4. Ask some Ss to read out their passages.【设计意图】分步骤一步步引导学生进行写作,调动了学生写作的积极性。通过写作思路的讲解,帮助学生掌握该话题的写作技巧,同时检验学生对本模块重点词汇句型的掌握情况。写完后通过同伴互判,使学生学会欣赏别人的作品,从中发现自己的不足。Step IV Summary1.
