(2023·广东中山·统考一模)In , a 23-year-old young man named Zhou Wei drew a lot of attention across China with his excellent performance in arithmetic (算术) on the Chinese game show The Brain. The game show aims to find the smartest person in China.
Zhou Wei was able to exactly calculate the fourteenth root of a 16-digit (数位) number within one minute on his own during the show. Even an ordinary calculator could not get the result of such difficult maths.
Zhou Wei shocked the audience not only because he has special calculating skill, but also because he was cerebral palsy (脑瘫) when he was six months old. People are now calling him the “Chinese Rain Man”.
However, some people didn’t believe him. They believed that Zhou Wei had already memorized the answer to the math problem before the show aired.
As the doubts and admiration for Zhou Wei spread around China, people paid more attention to his family and his disability.
According to Zhou’s mom, like most disabled children in rural areas in China, Zhou Wei had a difficult childhood because of his disease. Schools refused him.
Zhou’s family is running a small supermarket now. Zhou can get the sum of money for the goods their customers buy. Right now, as the most famous person in his hometown, the local government decides to help his family and him after hearing about Zhou’s talent.

A.憎恶 B.羡慕 C.理解 D.嫉妒
4.From the passage we know that ________.
A.Zhou Wei got a good education B.Zhou Wei didn’t like school
C.Zhou Wei had a rich family D.Zhou Wei had a talent for math
5.Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?

(2023·江苏南通·统考一模)Honestly, I had never enjoyed reading science fictions until a friend of mine pressed a copy of The Three-Body Problem into my hands. “You’ve just got to read this novel!”
“Bu I have no interest in superheroes fighting aliens to save the world. I prefer real people dealing with real-life situations.”
“Exactly. That’s why I want you to read it”
But, he was right. I fell in love with the book from the very beginning and finished it in only a couple of days. One reason why it was such a page-turner was Liu Cixin’s wonderful story-telling style. I especially liked his way of dealing with time. Most books are in the order of time, but The Three-Body Problem jumps back and forth. It starts back in history, nearly 60 years ago. Then, it jumps forward 40 years, when the characters have become elderly men and women, before jumping back again.
And the lives of Ye Wenjie and Wang Miao certainly kept me turning the pages. However, I also fell in love with this book because it was thought-provoking(发人深省的). Yes, there are aliens in it, but the theme of this story is life on Earth and how we humans are destroying the planet. Real-world science, history and philosophy(哲学) are combined into this very attractive story. As a great sci-fi work, it sparks(激发) interest in science, and it makes readers think.
The Three-Body Problem has enjoyed great popularity worldwide. It’s no surprise then, that it has been adapted(改编) into a TV series. At first, I didn’t like this idea. Books often lose a lot of their value when they are made into TV series. Books are slow. You need patience to understand what is going on. TV moves much faster. It is packed with action and cool characters. Young people are often more interested in what they see on their screens than in the stories and their messages. However, some of you may be too young to fully understand books like The Three-Body Problem. A good TV series can help you to become a better reader and can greatly encourage you to read more widely. But once you do fall in love with reading, you will realize that it is a good book, not a TV series that will be your friend for life.
6.What can we learn from the first paragraph?
A.The writer wasn’t interested in sci-fi novels. B.The writer’s friend wrote the sci-fi novel.
C.The writer’s friend used to be a novelist. D.The writer has no interest in reading at all.
7.Why did the writer finish the book in only a couple of days?
A.Because the book was a little bit boring. B.Because the book was really attractive.
C.Because the story in the book is short. D.Because the story was about aliens.
8.Which of the following statements is true?
A.The main characters in the story are all aliens.
B.The superheroes drove aliens away in the end.
C.The theme of the story is how aliens destroy Earth.
D.The story begins with what happened 60 year ago.
9.We can infer from the passage that, in the writer’s opinion, _______.
A.a good book can make TV series more valuable
B.there’s no need to adapt good books into TV series
C.young people are more interested in reading books
D.young people can understand sci-fi novels better

In a video, young children call out to their mother or father; the parents enter the room smiling, turn around and call out to their own parents; the grandparents then enter smiling and call out to their parents—the great-grandparents.
The format (形式) of this kind of video is being described as the “four-generation challenge”. It started on the Chinese short-video platform, Douyin, and has since spread to social media in other countries. People from all over the world have commented (评论) on the videos and even made their own versions (版本).
“Family care is usually a strong value,” wrote one Facebook user named Antoine Yupud. The “four-generation” videos have not only touched foreign viewers but also given them a deeper look into Chinese family values.
In most East Asian cultures, it is common for many generations of a single family to live together under one roof. This is called an extended family. In most Western countries, most families are nuclear families, which are made up of just children and their parents.
In Western culture, privacy (隐私) and independence are highly valued. Kids usually move out of the house after they grow up. Many of them apply for loans (贷款) and do part-time jobs in order to pay for college and rent. If they choose to continue living with their parents after becoming an adult, it can be seen as a sign of immaturity or failure.
Although family structures (结构) in the East and West may be different, the love and bonds between family members are common. That might be why the “four-generation” videos have won so many hearts around the world.
10.What’s the “four-generation challenge” video mainly about?
A.How family members eat together.
B.How young children play with their parents.
C.How grandparents are well cared for.

11.Which writing skill is used in Para. 4?
A.Giving reasons. B.Making comparisons.
C.Listing numbers. D.Using sayings.
12.What does the underlined word “nuclear families” mean?

13.What makes the video so popular in the world?
A.Foreign people’s interest in Chinese culture.
B.The differences between different cultures.
C.The commonly shared love and bonds in families.
D.The video format that never appeared before.
(2023·广东阳江·统考一模)Nowadays, more and more people play with mobile phones, computers and so on. These electronic products have a bad influence on people, especially for teenagers.
Looking at screens at night can make us sleep badly, according to a US study. In the evening, our bodies make melatonin(褪黑素). Melatonin makes us feel sleepy and relaxer. It’s more important than any other part of our sleep cycle.
Phones, computers and TVs make blue light. Blue light stops our bodies from making melatonin. Even just a little bit off blue light can have a big influence. Eight minutes of blue light can keep your brain “awake” for another hour. Blue light can penetrate(穿透) our eyes. If you look at blue light for over 30 hours, you may get blind. Even if you fall asleep, you may have lots of dreams. Your brain won’t have a good rest.
It’s even worse to play an exciting game before going to bed. Games make our hearts beat faster, so we have a tougher time falling asleep. Then, when we fall asleep, we don’t get enough “deep sleep”. Deep sleep helps teenagers grow stronger.
14.Looking at screens at night can make us ________.
A.sleep well B.sleep poorly C.have a good rest D.relax ourselves
15.What is the most important part of our sleep cycle?
A.Electronic screen. B.Melatonin. C.Blue light. D.Dream.
16.What may happen if you look at blue light for more than 30 hours?
A.You may get blind. B.You may have a good rest.
C.You may have lots of dreams. D.Your brain may be awake for another hour.
17.The underlined word “tougher” in the last paragraph means “________.”
A.easier B.happier C.more difficult D.more relaxing
18.What’s the main idea of the passage?
A.Sleep is very important.
B.Electronic products can be both good and bad.
C.Electronic products have a bad influence on sleep.
D.More and more people play with electronic products.
(2023·河南南阳·统考一模)Have you ever seen a solar panel (太阳能电池板) in your neighborhood? Solar panels take energy from the sun and turn it into electricity. Over the past ten years, the price of solar panels has gone down greatly. In many parts of the world, solar energy is now the cheapest form of electricity. More and more people have started using solar energy.
However, common solar panels also have their problems. They stop working at night and on rainy days. Is it possible to make them produce electricity all the time?
Scientists at Suzhou University, China, have invented a new solar panel now. It can produce electricity not only from solar energy but also from falling rain. When a raindrop falls on the solar panel and then rolls (滚动) down, it creates friction (摩擦力) on the surface of the panel, which can then be turned into electricity.
Sun Baoquan is one of the inventors. “Our new invention can produce electricity in any weather during the day, even at night,” he says.
The solar panel, however, does not make much electricity from falling rain. So Sun Baoquan is still working hard to improve it. The scientist also wants to make solar panels more flexible, which are as soft as clothing.
The field of solar energy is developing fast. Scientists around the world have been improving solar panels. Some have been working on ways to join solar panels and wind power together. Some have been trying to use other ways.

Members of the family of Spanish artist Pablo Picasso are selling more than1,000 digital (数字的) art pieces of one of his sculptures. The work has never been seen publicly. Picasso’s granddaughter, Marina Picasso, and her son Florian Picasso showed media some of the art pieces in their home in Geneva, Switzerland. They say the digital pieces are a mix of old fine art and digital work. The Picassos want to make money from the recent interest in NFTs, or non-fungible tokens (非同质化代币). The parts that have been shown have a thick yellow line and areas of green. There is also the number 58 at the base. Marina Picasso says the piece is from October 1958, when she was a child. “It’s joyful, happy,” she said. “It represents life... It’s one of those objects that have been part of our life.”

Over 1,000 other NFTs will be sold online through the Nifty Gateway and Origin Protocol websites. Some of the money from the sales will be donated.
Florian Picasso said the family agreed on the colorful ceramic piece because it was “a fun one” to start. The family and its business managers say the purpose is to create a younger community of Picasso fans.
