(2023·辽宁本溪·统考一模)Electric cars may seem like a recent invention, but they’ve been around for years. In the early s, there were more electric cars on the road than there were petrol(汽油)cars. At that time, petrol was expensive compared with other fuels(燃料). When petrol prices dropped and new technologies were developed, electric cars went out of fashion. Instead, petrol cars became more popular because they could travel longer distances without stopping.
During the 20th century, petrol cars got bigger, heavier and faster. They needed more fuel, and it caused more air pollution. For years, car makers didn’t worry about pollution. They didn’t worry about the amount of petrol cars’ use, either. But when people began to realize that there was not enough oil on the earth, they asked car makers to produce more efficient(高效能的)and less polluting cars.
One method of solving the problem was a “hybrid” car(混合动力车), one that ran partly on petrol and partly on electricity. Hybrid cars became popular in the 2000s when petrol prices went up and the prices of hybrid cars went down.
An all-electric car uses no petrol. The problem, however, is that car batteries(电池)need to be recharged(再充电). That makes electric cars not so useful for long journeys.
Many people are not pleased with it. The government and car makers are working together to develop safe, cheap and useful electric cars. When people have these cars in the future, a petrol station may be a thing of the past.
1.Electric cars went out of fashion because ________.
A.petrol oil was more expensive B.new technologies were developed
C.they were more popular than petrol cars D.they were invented recently
2.Petrol cars ________.

C.can save more petrol oil D.need more fuel than electric cars
3.What kind of cars are more efficient and less polluting?
A.Petrol cars. B.Electric cars. C.Hybrid cars. D.Shared cars.
4.The fourth paragraph mainly tells us ________.
A.all-electric cars don’t need petrol B.all-electric cars have a long history
C.all-electric cars can travel long distances D.all-electric cars don’t use batteries
5.From the passage, we can infer(推断)________.
A.all-electric cars will use less petrol oil
B.electric cars will take the place of petrol cars
C.more petrol stations will be set up in the future
D.there will be more and more petrol cars in the future
(2023·山东滨州·统考一模)
Boris, a foreign student at Communication University of China, often shares his experiences of Chinese culture on his vlog (视频博客).
In one video, for example, Boris shared how he had learned the Chinese word dongxi. He translated each part separately into “east west”. And he introduced one theory (说法) about how dongxi came to mean “things”. He told people that all marketplaces in ancient Chinese cities were set up along a single road that ran from east to west. So when you would say qu mai dongxi, you’d be saying, “I’m going to buy things.”
Some other videos show him reading Chinese poems and performing kung fu in Chinese traditional costume, which are quite welcome among his 40,000 followers. “Many of my followers are learning Chinese,” Boris said. “But sadly, they know little about Chinese culture and the country.”
Like many foreigners, Boris once believed that all Chinese could perform kung fu, flying onto roofs and walking over walls. He thought the country was not that developed. But after he got a scholarship (奖学金) to study in China in 2019, his view changed. “China has entered a new period, but many people’s impressions of China are still stuck in the 1970s,” Boris said. “That’s why I started to shoot vlogs to share Chinese culture in 2019.”
Until now, Boris has posted more than 40 Chinese culture vlogs online. But making these vlogs is not easy. Take reading the poem Second Farewell to Cambridge by Xu Zhimo as an example. “I can understand and read every word in the poem,” Boris said. “But to touch readers, I need to use proper feelings while reading.” So he needed to look for a lot of background information and make his feelings suit each part of the poem.
Though shooting these vlogs takes lots of time, the young man feels proud that his vlogs have inspired many people. Boris said that he wanted to continue bridging the differences between the two cultures. “This goal may not be achieved easily, but I will spare no effort to do my part.”
6.What does Boris mainly want to do through the vlogs?
A.Sell Chinese products. B.Share his experiences in China.
C.Teach foreigners Chinese. D.Introduce a Chinese university.

C.By making up some sentences. D.By knowing its cultural background.
8.What inspired Boris to shoot vlogs?
A.His hunger for new technology. B.His interest in Chinese culture.
C.His wish to show the real China. D.His dream to be a big vlogger.
9.Why did the writer mention the poem Second Farewell to Cambridge?
A.Because Boris met the followers’ needs.
B.Because it expressed Boris’s love for poems.
C.Because it gave an example of Chinese culture.
D.Because it showed Boris’s effort at vlog-making.
10.What is the purpose of this passage according to the writer?
A.Say yes to Boris’s actions. B.Call for more help.
C.Build bridges by making vlogs. D.Achieve a common goal.
(2023·广西崇左·统考一模)What makes good design (设计)? Recently, Fortune magazine made a survey about the best designs of modern times. On their top 100 list, many things were chosen not because of how they look, but because of how they have improved people’s lives and society as a whole. Great design is about making life easier, simpler and better. And that is beautiful. Let’s look at some of the lists.
Apple’s iPhone, 2007
Smartphones were never the same after Apple designed the iPhone. It has many features (功能), which help it take the place of personal computers in some ways. (2023·广西崇左·统考一模)China has just opened its FAST radio telescope (射电望远镜) to international scientists. It means scientists across the world can apply for using the telescope to do astronomical observations.
FAST is short for Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope. It was completed in September 2016 and it officially began operating in January 2020. Measuring 500 meters in diameter, FAST is the world’s largest single-dish radio telescope, and is 10 times more sensitive than the 100-meter Radio Telescope Effelsberg in Germany.
The major scientific task of the telescope is the observation of pulsars(脉冲星). The study of pulsars can help to confirm the existence of gravitational radiation (引力辐射) and black holes, and help solve many other major questions in physics. Another major scientific goal of FAST is to search for life outside the Earth.
The telescope is located in a naturally deep and round karst depression (喀斯特洼地) in southwest China’s Guizhou Province. The first advantage of the selected site is the altitude (海拔). The average altitude of Guizhou is about 1,100 meters. Generally, the higher the altitude is, the more the telescope can observe. Secondly, the radio telescope needs to have a “big pan” to receive better signals. The huge natural depression could reduce the difficulty of construction. Moreover, the selected site in Guizhou is far away from cities, and has a low population density.which reduces the interference (干扰) caused by wireless devices such as TVs, mobile phones and radios from human activities.
So far, FAST has found over 300 pulsars. Experts predict that the number could reach 1, 000 in five years and that the telescope could find and locate (定位) the first pulsar outside the Galaxy. Let’s wait and see more fantastic discoveries.

(2023·山东菏泽·统考一模)If you bought some candy months ago but never ate it, how can you tell whether it’s still eatable? The easiest way is to check the use-by date printed on the cover. If that date has already passed, you’re likely to throw the candy away. But is that really necessary? According to a report, tons of food is wasted each year, largely because people don’t fully understand what use-by dates actually mean and they think the food is not safe to eat.
Use-by dates were introduced in 1975 because customers wanted more information about the things that they were eating. When they first showed up, use-by dates only showed freshness because producers wanted their products to be tasted in their best conditions.
However, most customers mistakenly believed that use-by dates showed how safe the food was. But the truth is that these dates aren’t related to the danger of food poisoning (中毒). Eggs, for example, can still be eaten three to five weeks after being bought, even though the use-by date is much earlier. When their use-by dates pass, cookies may lose their delicious taste, but they are not harmful.
“It’s an unclear subject, the difference between food quality and food safety,” said Jena Roberts from a US food testing company. Even workers in the food factory are not sure about it. This is why the use-by dates must be printed on the covers of products. “We hope it can help customers understand the information so that they won’t waste a lot of food.”
But this won’t be a mistake that is easy to correct, because people have believed it for so long. As a result, food factory officials are now thinking about turning the use-by date into a date which can show when food is most likely to be thrown away.
21.What can we know from the first paragraph?
A.Every year most factories produce too much food for people.
B.People throw away food because they think it is unsafe to eat.
C.It’s necessary for people to throw away tons of food every year.
D.The use-by dates are wrongly printed, so people throw away food.
22.Which of the following information can describe the use-by date?
A.SN66015972306795500 B.806725A166949
C.BETTER IF USED BY Apr. 11th, 2023 D.Energy: 549 KJ 7% Protein: 1.4 g 2% Fat: 7.4 g 12%
23.Which of the following is TRUE according to the text?
A.Food factory officials are planning to change use-by dates.
B.Most people care more about food freshness than food safety.
C.Eggs cannot be eaten three to five weeks after people buy them.
D.Workers in the food factory know clearly about food quality and food safety.
24.What does the text mainly talk about?
A.Different kinds of food. B.Food freshness and quality.
C.How to choose healthy food. D.The use-by date and food safety.
