(2023·辽宁鞍山·统考一模)Strawberries look nice, but a light pressure can make them out of shape. Nowadays, there are many young people who are just like strawberries. They easily break down when they face difficulties. They don’t know what to do when they are in trouble. They have a common name—strawberry kids.
Why are many students so easy to break down? Parents and schools are a main reason. Parents do almost everything for them in their daily life, while schools care more about their grades instead of developing their personality (个性).
Liu Yue, 13, is from Fujian. His mom hardly criticizes (批评) him and he always feels good about himself. When a teacher criticized him strictly, he felt surprised and sad. He began to doubt his ability.
Students should do something to make themselves mentally (心理上) strong. An expert said, “When you are in trouble, don’t ask for help too quickly. You should try to deal with problems first by yourself. I also advise you to take an active part in sports and social activities. That can make you mentally strong.”
Growing up is not just a happy process. Pains also go along with it. The most important thing is to face the pains bravely and learn from them.

China introduced the “double reduction (双减)” policy in July, 2022. According to the policy, it should take no more than 90 minutes for junior high school students to finish their homework. Several months have passed since the new term began. Here are the two students’ points of view.
“Our homework is clearly less than before,” said 15-year-old Xie Dong from Shijiazhuang. “We are not encouraged to buy workbooks any more. The exercises are mainly from the textbook.” Students have enough time to learn new knowledge now. “Our teachers are also giving us more chances to do experiments and learn from real life,” said Xie. Self-discipline (自律) becomes the key. “Some students now spend more time having fun when homework is finished early. But if you use all the free time to relax, you might fall behind other students,” he said. “And we have few exams, I don’t think it is a good thing.”
For 15-year-old Zhang Jing from Langfang, the best thing about “double reduction” is the increased time in after-school activities. “We can now spend more time taking part in clubs and activities, such as dancing, volleyball and drama. I have joined a group called “leadership development” where I can learn all kinds of skills beyond schoolwork,” said Zhang. There are fewer exams now. But it’s not necessarily a good thing. “Exams push me to study harder. Each exam shows my progress as well as my weak points,” Zhang said.
6.How long should finishing the homework take for junior high school students?
A.More than an hour. B.Less than 90 minutes.
C.About half an hour. D.At least two hours.
7.Which of the following is not a good thing for the two students?
A.Students have enough time to learn new knowledge.
B.Students now spend more time having fun.
C.Students spend more time taking part in clubs and activities.
D.Students have fewer exams than before.
8.What do Xie and Zhang mainly want to tell us?
A.Students should learn to be self-discipline.
B.Students should use all the free time to relax.
C.Exams aren’t necessary because they only show students’ weak points.
D.Students should spend more time having fun after finishing homework.

(2023·江苏常州·校考一模)When emojis (表情符号) were officially made a part of mobile phone keyboards in the early 2010s, they very quickly became a part of languages across the world. By 2018, it was found that six billion emojis were being sent every day, and three quarters of adults used emojis in messages. As more and more emojis are added to the collection, they have developed their own meaning and formed their own language. However, some people don’t like emojis, and believe they should not be a substitute (替代品) for words. What do you think? Are emojis ruining (毁坏) language, or are they a good way to communicate?
In a way, they make messaging easier and fun. Emojis provide a helpful way to show the facial expressions people might use in a real-life conversation. They also make the way that people communicate through messages so much better, allowing them to improve their words. Silly emojis can make an exchange funnier whatever people are chatting about. Also, when people are not able to speak face to face, emojis can help people feel more connected with one another.
But not everyone has the same brand (牌子) of phone or computer which means that emojis don’t look exactly the same on all devices (设备). The meaning of an emoji sent from one person to another may become lost in translation if the image (图像) changes and doesn’t look how the sender wanted it to. These little images have become a substitute for words and this has led to laziness when people communicate with others: Using a heart emoji instead of telling someone you love them shows a shortage of effort. So some think that people should keep using words when they send messages-no pictures necessary.
22.What is the function of the two questions raised in Paragraph 1?
A.To attract the readers’attention. B.To question the opinions of others.
C.To invite the readers to answer them. D.To introduce the argument of the text.
23.What can we learn about emojis from the text?
A.They can help people to use words more often. B.They can be the substitutes of words completely.
C.They have been welcomed by everyone. D.They have become a certain language.
24.Which might cause the loss of meaning of an emoji according to the last paragraph?
A.Sending an emoji to different brands of phones. B.Using silly emojis to communicate.
C.Expressing one’s feelings only with emojis. D.Using a heart emoji to tell someone you love them.

(2023·浙江宁波·统考一模)Palo Alto, California—“Switching off the television may help prevent children from getting fatter—even if they do not change their diet or increase the amount they exercise, ” US researchers said last week.
A study of 192 third and fourth-grade students, generally aged eight and nine, found that children who cut the number of hours spent watching television gained nearly two pounds(0.91 kg) less over a one year period than those who did not change their television diet.
“The findings are important because they show that weight loss can only be the result of a reduction in television viewing and not any other activity,” said Thomas Robinson, a pediatrician(儿科专家) at Stanford University.
“American children spend an average of more than four hours per day watching television and videos or playing games, and rates of childhood being very fat have doubled over the past 20 years,” Robinson said.
In the study, presented this week to the Pediatric Academic Societies’ annual meeting in San Francisco, the researchers persuaded about 100 of the students to reduce their television viewing by one-quarter to one-third.
Children watching fewer hours of television showed a significantly smaller increase in waist size and had less body fat than other students who continue their normal television viewing, even though neither group ate a special diet nor took part in any extra exercise.
“One explanation for the weight loss could be the children unstuck to the television may simply have been moving around and burning off calories, ” Robinson said.
“Another reason might be due to eating fewer meals in front of the television. Some studies have suggested that eating in front of the TV encourages people to eat more,” Robinson added.
30.The purpose of the first two paragraphs is to ________.
A.report the time children spend watching TV B.show that more TV time leads to getting fatter
C.tell us the best way to reduce weight D.introduce the background of the research
31.According to the passage, the time American children usually spend in watching TV ________.
A.is more than four hours a day B.is less than four hours a day
C.doubled in the last twenty years D.is more than on any other activities
32.Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage?
A.Weight increase owes to the result of a reduction in TV viewing.
B.The percentage of children getting fatter has doubled in the last 20 years.
C.Children usually eat less while watching TV.
D.Children usually eat nothing while watching TV.
33.The main idea of the passage would be ________.
A.less TV time helps reduce children’s weight B.fewer meals are a must in reducing children’s weight
C.the less you eat, the thinner you will be D.more exercise is of great benefit to reducing weight
