Many foreigners came to China due to their longings: because their dreams, they chose to stay. When foreigners “meet China”, what kind of sparkles will they collide (碰撞) with?
From studying in China in the 1980s to running an inn in Dali, Yunnan, the bond (纽带) between American Brain Linden and China has lasted for more than 30 years. Having lived in the countryside for a long time, Linden felt the big changes in China.
In 2004, Linden left his job in the USA, sold his house and brought his wife and two children to live in Xizhou, Yunnan. Four years later, a small inn called Xilinyuan, a Bai ethnic courtyard with a long history, officially opened. The owner of the inn Brain Linden began his “Chinese dream.”
In Linden’s eyes, China’s rural areas have colourful culture, beautiful scenery and a more harmonious atmosphere. He loves the hardworking and friendly villagers. Linden said: “In rural China, villagers have a positive spirit.”
For many years, Linden has brought thousands of travelers from around the world into the field of Xizhou, allowing them to touch and perceive (感知) the real China. He also wrote articles about what he saw in China, published them on oversea social media and put them into books in English. In one of his books, he says we shouldn’t view China from a single point. If so, we can’t fully understand China.
Linden said: “Foreigners, especially majority of Americans nowadays, may view China through some American media. Some of the articles that these media show may only represent 1% of China, and 99% of good stories that foreigners cannot understand. I hope they can have a rich understanding of 99% of China’s great changes.”
Linden is already 60 years old this year, but he still has many wishes to realize: he wants to manage the inn better and allow more foreign tourists to visit rural China. Are you emotional? Do you often have strong feelings? How do you deal with bad emotions?
We feel angry or guilty about the things we did or did not achieve, about the things we cannot have, and many other things. It seems that everyone carries their own bad moods. But neither guilt nor anger can help us. Over time, they can be heavy weights on our shoulders. These bad moods don’t do anything good for us at all. So you might ask yourself—is it possible to put down this heavy burden (负担) and give yourself a break? It is quite possible. Start by actually looking at your feelings. How do they get inside of us? Why do we carry them for so long instead of putting them down? Can we live without them?
By thinking about our bad moods, we can find healthy ways to deal with them. Unhealthy behaviors are not the way to do this. They provide no relief. Instead, there are better ways to deal with them. One of the best ways is forgiveness.
________. We should forgive ourselves first. We shouldn’t keep bad moods inside. We must also forgive others who have made us guilty or angry. This is not always easy. But when we learn to forgive ourselves, it becomes easier to forgive others as well. There is nothing good about carrying years of emotional burdens. By forgiving ourselves and others, we can abandon our burdens and feel better about ourselves. The moment you do this, you will start to feel a lot lighter. Years of heaviness will be magically lifted! You’ll start to feel like you have more energy and you’ll be much happier with your life.

Knowing how and when to say sorry can build a better friendship
Have you ever argued with a friend and said or done something you regretted? 32 Knowing how to apologize can help you to become friends again and understand why you fall out in the first place.
    Why do we argue?
We argue for all kinds of reasons. For example, your might think your football team is fantastic, but your friend disagree, or you don’t want someone to join in your game. Sometimes, especially if you are angry, things can become out of control, and you will say or do something you regret. 33 But it is important to solve your differences afterwards So bad feelings don’t get worse. This is where an apology can help.
    What does saying sorry mean?
We all make mistakes, and apologizing is a good way admitting we have got something wrong and will try not to do it again. 34 An apology needs to share the other person that you are really sorry, that you accept responsible anything for your actions, and that you want their forgiveness.
    35
Sometimes another person may pressure you into taking the blame when it has nothing to do with you. If you feel this is happening, try talking about why you argued in the first place and explain how it made you feel. If you still can’t agree, you could ask a parent or teacher to help you resolve the problem
    Does apologizing always work?
36 . It may take time for someone to understand and forgive you. Even after you have said sorry, you could still feel bad.

    No Sweet without Sweat
When it comes to the saying “No sweet without sweat”. The unforgettable basketball game last term gave me a clear understanding of it.
Dating back to our school Sports Day, a basketball game was held at school. Aiming at getting the first prize in the match, our class decided to be one of the competitors. To improve our skills, we practiced hard to prepare for the competition. However, we found we often failed to shoot the ball into the basket exactly. What’s worse, the team members blamed each other for the failure, which made us disappointed. It completely ruined our confidence. So depressed, our team wanted to give up. It was at that time that my P. E teacher came to us. Not only did he gave us some practical suggestions but also offered us professional basketball training after school. With the encouragement of him, we gradually performed well. At last, although our team didn’t get the first prize, we knew clearly the spirit of a team work after the competition.
No sweet without sweat. It gives me the strength to work hard and walk forward.
