How ever, w hen something did interest me, I could become absorbed. In high school, I became curious about the computer, and built my f irst w ebsite. Moreover, I completed the senior course of Computer Basics, plus five relevant pre-college courses.
While I w as exploring my curiosity, my disease got w orse. I w anted to go to college after high school, but couldn’t. So, I w as killing my time at home unt il June 2012 w hen I discovered the online computer courses of your training center.
Since then, I have taken courses like Dat a Science and Adv anced Mathemat ics. Currently, I’m

learn ing your Probability course. I have hundreds of printer paper, covered in self -written notes from your video. This has given me a purpose.
Last year, I spent all my time look ing for a job w here, w ithout dealing w ith the public , I could w ork alone, but still have a team to talk to. Thank you. You’ve given me hope that I can follow my heart. For the first time, I feel good about

Much information can be clearly conveyed, purely through our eyes, so the expression "eyes also talk" is often heard.
Can you recall any experience that further proves this statement? On a bus you may quickly glance
at a stranger, but not make eye contact. If he senses that he is being stared at, he may feel uncomfortable.
It is the same in daily life. If you are looked at for more than necessary, you w ill look at yourself up and dow n to see if there is anything w rong w ith you. If nothing goes wrong, you w ill feel angry tow ard other ’s stare at you that w ay. Eyes do speak, right?
Looking too long at someone may seem to be rude and aggressive. But th ings are different w hen it
comes to stare at the opposite sex. If a man glances at a w oman for more than 10 seconds and refuses to avert his gaze, his intentions are obvious. That is, he w ishes to attract her attention, to make her understand that he is admiring her.
How ever, the normal eye contact for tw o people engaged in conversation is that the speaker w ill only look at the listener from time to time; in order to make sure that the listener does pay attention to w hat the former is speaking, to tell him that he is attentive.
If a speaker looks at you continuously w hen speaking, as if he tries to dominate you, you w ill feel disconcerted. A poor liar usually exposes himself by look ing too long at the victim, since he believes the false idea that to look straight in the eye is a sign of honest communication.
In fact, continuous eye contact is confined to lovers only, w ho w ill enjoy lookin g at each other
tenderly for a long time, to show affection that w ords cannot express.
Evid ently, eye contact should be done according to the relationship betw een tw o people and specific situation.
    24. What may a person usually do on a bus?
    A. Glance at a stranger w ith eye contact. B. Use eyes to talk to a stranger politely.
    C. Glance at a stranger w ithout eye contact.
    D. Talk to a stranger politely after a quick glance.
    25. What does it mean if a man looks at a w oman for over 10 seconds?
    A. He likes her eyes. B He makes contact w ith her. C. He know s her w ell. D. He admires her.
    26. Why is a poor liar easy to be seen through?
    A. He thinks that he is honest.
    B. He looks straight at the victim for too long a time.
    C. He feels uneasy about others’ eye contact.
    D. He w ants to control the victim.
    27. What may be the best title for the text?
    A. Don’t Stare at Others B. Eye Contact Matters
    C. Eyes Can Speak D. Use Your Eye Contact
    C
Food production does great harm to our environment. There are many procedures involved in the manufacture of food that result in greenhouse gases and other pollut ants. Some procedures require the consumption of large amounts of fossil fuels, such as the transportation and storage of food products. Other factors that cause great damage to our environment include the overuse of fresh w ater.
The production of beef is more damaging to the environment than that of any other food w e consume. Raising large numbers of cattle requires the production of large amounts of food for the animals. It’s estimated that producing one pound of beef requires seven pounds of feed.
Land use is also a problem. If the cattle are free-range cattle, large areas of land are required for them to live on. This has led to disastrous forest cutting and the loss of rare plants and animal species, particularly in tropical rain forests in Central and South America.
Another problem specific to beef production is methane emissions ( 甲烷排放). Although many
people are aw are of the damaging effects of carbon dioxide, they don’t realize methane’s global
w arming potential is 25 times w orse, making it a more dire problem.
Unfortunately, beef consumption is grow ing rapid ly. This is the result of simple supply and demand factors. Specifically, there are tw o main causes of demand that are encouraging the production of more supply. First, the increase in the w orld populat ion means there are more people to consume meat. The second factor is socioeconomic advancement. As citizens in develop ing nat ions become financially stable, they can afford to buy more meat.
Therefore, one w ay to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions is for people around the w orld to significantly cut dow n on the amount of beef they eat.
    28. Which of the follow ing is TRUE?
    A. Producing beef can damage the environment. B. People cut dow n trees for animal habitats.
    C. Raising free-range cattle is eco-friendly.
    D. Carbon dioxide causes far more harm than methane.
    29. The underlined w ord “dire” in Para.4 means .
    A. avoidable B. common C. typical D. urgent
    30. Beef production is grow ing rapidly because .
    A. more people are in demand of beef B. developing countries raise more cattle
    C. more land is available to raise cattle D. the cost of raising cattle is relatively low
    31. The author w rites this article to .
    A. describe the booming of the beef production B. emphasize the advantages of beef production C. condemn the deforestation of the rain forest D. argue for a decrease in beef consumption

    D
Nuclear energy has alw ays been controversial. The w orld is divided — some countries are planning more nuclear plants, w hile others have promised to shut theirs dow n.
After Fukushima, Germany decided to sw itch off all its nuclear plants by 2022. Sw itzerland and Italy are also phasing out nuclear pow er. But France and the Unit ed States remain staunch supporters of atomic energy. In fact, almost 80% of France’s electricity comes from nuclear pow er, the highest percentage in the w orld. And in the US, the administration said it “continues to support the expansion of nuclear pow er”.
Nuclear supporters claim unclear pow er can help the environment. Unlike fossil fuels, nuclear pow er doesn’t create greenhouse gases. So, pro-nuclear countries argue that nuclear pow er allow s them to generate energy w ithout contributing to clim ate change. Brit ain’s chief scientif ic adviser supports this view. He recently said that the w orld doesn’t have the luxury of ignoring nuclear energy.
Nuclear pow er is also relat ively cheap. Renew able energy sources such as solar, hydro and w ind pow er may be clean, but they’ re expensive; and right now, they require a lot of investment. This higher cost of using “green energy” is usually passed onto the consumer. So, w hile many people may prefer their energy to come from a renew able source, not so many are prepared to pay higher energy bills. This is of particular concern w hile the w orld economy is in such bad shape.
The main argument against nuclear energy is that it isn’t safe. For a start, nuclear w aste is very difficult to dispose of, and remains toxic to humans for thousands of years. And even before Fukushima, there w ere several high-profile nuclear disasters. The most famous is probably the 1986 Chernobyl disaster, in the Ukraine. The radiation from the meltdow n spread all over Europe, affecting thousands.
The nuclear energy issue is very complex. And it doesn’t look like it w ill be resolved anyt ime soon. The battle continues.
    32. What has Germany decided to do by 2022?
    A. go on use nuclear energy.
    B. shut dow n its nuclear plants.
    C. decided to continue all its nuclear plants by 2022. D. decide to increase input on nuclear plants.
    33. What is the main argument against nuclear energy?
    A. It is unsafe and remains toxic for thousands of years. B. It spends a lot of money to build nuclear plants.
    C. Nuclear pow er can pollute the environment.
    D. Nuclear pow er is so expensive that people can not afford it.
    34. The w riter ’s attitude tow ard nuclear energy is ?
    A. supportive B. opposed C. neutral D. indifferent
    35. It can be inferred from the text that .
    A. Nuclear energy can cause the environment change.
    B. Nuclear energy is cheaper than solar, hydro and w ind pow er. C. Many disasters w ere caused by nuclear energy.
    D. It is uncertain w hether nuclear energy is good or not.
