Hamadtou, who lost his arms in a train accident at the age of ten, was drawn to table tennis after being challenged by a friend. "I was once watching a match between two of my friends," Hamadtou explains. "They disagreed on a point, When I counted the point in favor of one of them, the other player told me, 'Mind your own business as you will never be able to play.' Every year on April 22,Earth Day marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970.It gave a voice to an emerging public consciousness about the state of our planet. The founder was Gaylord Nelson.

The next big stage, the improvement from automatic to truly autonomous trains, is already here. It will take train autonomy to the next level, beyond the automated performance on closed loops (圈;环) such as automatic rail lines today and onto the vast expanse of international railways.
That will mean that the next generation of trains will be able to locate themselves in their environment and interact with other train traffic without human assistance. They will have the ability to detect and manage on their own all elements of their environment, designed by a connected traffic management system.
The transition toward train autonomy is speeding, says Kai Taylor, Thales Marketing & Communications Director Main Line Rail Signalling, and for a reason that can be summed up in one word: digitalisation.
“The key to success,” says Kai Taylor, “is in fact what is in ‘the Thales DNA’ — the digital technologies across Thales business units-aerospace, space, transportation, defence and security.”
“These technologies represent the pieces of the puzzle to achieve real train autonomy. They are artificial intelligence, big data, connectivity, including the internet of things linking trains to intelligent railway switches, and with netsecurity built in. We have sensors for obstacle (障碍) detection from Thales defence, safe and precise satellite positioning from our space and avionics (航空电子设备) division, IoT connectivity from our recent purchase Gemalto, cybersecurity from the Thales security sector and the trusted explainable and approvable artificial intelligence led by Thales for safe decisions. Taken together, they will provide the train with true autonomy for safe and efficient operations.”
Of course, all these technologies are at the base of the Thales ground and air transportation sector’s current offerings for efficient, safe and reliable travel in the air or on the ground.
Kai Taylor explains, “We’re unique in having the experience and the expertise in all aspects of mobility, including Thales global leadership in air and train management systems which are assuring rail and air travel for airlines and rail operators all over the world.”
32.What will truly autonomous trains do?
A.Carry out the automated performance on closed loops.
B.Communicate with other trains with the help of humans.
C.Examine and deal with the situations of the surroundings.
D.Travel automatically with great speeds using solar powers.
33.What does the underlined word “that” in paragraph 3 mean?
    A.Their environment. B.The transition’ speeding.
C.Human assistance. D.The ability to locate themselves.
34.What does paragraph 5 mainly tell us?
A.How digitalisation works in real train autonomy.
B.What sensors on the autonomous trains deal with
C.What will provide the train with safety and efficiency.
D.How obstacles are removed from the paths of trains.
35.What’s Kai Taylor’s attitude towards the future of autonomous trains?
    A.Cautious. B.Concerned.
    C.Critical. D.Confident.

Sometimes it seems like there are never enough hours in the day. But with a bit of time management, you can make time for the things you need to do, like housework. Here are some tips on how to manage your time for housework.
36 Don’t try to do too much in one day or week. Spread out your housework over a period of days or weeks so that it doesn’t seem so overwhelming. “I’m going to clean the entire house today” rarely goes well and will just make you feel defeated.
Make a list. Once you know what needs to be done, make a list of the tasks and prioritize them. 37 You can also create checklists for things throughout the house so you can just move from one task to another.
Try to clean as you go. Have you ever noticed dishes are easier to wash if you wash them off immediately? This doesn’t mean that you have to clean up every single thing as soon as you finish using it. 38 This will save you time in the long run and help keep your house more organized.
Use your time wisely. 39 For instance, if you are vacuuming(用真空吸尘器),move all the furniture in the room first so that you don’t have to keep stopping and starting. Don’t dust before you vacuum; you’ll just have to redo everything later.
Reward yourself. When you’ve finished all your tasks, give yourself a pat on the back or a good treat like a good cup of coffee. This will help you stay motivated and look forward to the next time you have to do housework. 40
    A.Set realistic expectations.
B.Set aside some time each day or week for housework.
C.But if you can, try to put things away and tidy up as you go.
D.Make sure you use your time wisely and take breaks between tasks.
E.Make sure you are using your time efficiently while you are cleaning.
F.Housework is always going to be a bit of a heavy task, but it shouldn’t be terrible.
G.This will help you focus on what needs to be done first and prevent you forgetting anything.

As I sat on the bus waiting to arrive at school, the sun shining, I just sat there full of excitement ready to enjoy the first day of spring. At last, the bus stopped and I started my day.
The whole day I was waiting for one thing, noon break. As the day passed by, I heard the bell rang and everyone rushed out of the door. I hurried and ate lunch just to get outside.
As soon as I was out, my close friend, Riley called me over to play basketball. We all started playing and time flew by as we heard the timekeeper yell, “10 more minutes.” From that point on, the game sped up. Score after score, the competition process was more intense. I passed it to my teammate, Austin, and he dished it back as I pulled up a shot. I felt as if the world around me were barely moving, and all I concentrated on was the ball going to the hoop (篮筐). Not knowing I was pushed back hard, I hit the ground. A huge pain entered my left ankle. I wanted to scream, but I didn’t, hearing the people around me shout for help. I just lay there as Riley came over to pick me up and Austin fetched a wheelchair from the school clinic. Both of them helped me sit on the wheelchair. It seemed like the whole school circled around me as I was being pushed away.
The moment we entered the clinic where I always felt nervous, I didn’t think my ankle hurt as badly as it did just now, so I said, “I’m okay.” Then they had to send me back to class without any treatment. The rest of the day I felt my ankle swelling (肿) up and I thought of how stupid I was to say that my ankle didn’t hurt in the clinic. “I should have gone home.” I thought to myself as I was thrown through this terrible pain. After school, I worried how to go back home.

    1.续写词数应为150 左右;

    【原文】
I live on an island off the west coast of Scotland. I love it but a trip to the cinema means a 55-minute boat journey plus a half-hour drive to the nearest town. That’s why we all get excited about the Screen Machine. It’s a mobile cinema that travels round the Scottish islands. Sometimes we get to see the latest movies.
You can’t miss the huge, bright blue Screen Machine when it comes into the car park. It takes an hour to change it into a comfortable, air-conditioned 80-seat cinema. It’s amazing.
I really admire the Screen Machine’s driver. Of course, he shows the movies. And there is always another person selling tickets. The salt in the sea air isn’t good for the truck’s motors so they also need a mechanic.
Ticket prices are very reasonable, so as soon as the Screen Machine arrives, the ticket office phone starts ringing. We can now also book in advance on the Screen Machine website, which makes it even more convenient. And that’s the way most people choose now. It’s an amazing service.

故填are regarded。
结合语意,设空处后面“the leader of a tribe”是一种身份,则此处应用as,表示“是,作为”。故填as。
“for the first time”表示“第一次,首次”。故填the。
故填which。

    66.Dear Jason,
Though busy with our lessons and preparing for the entrance exams, we also have spare time for various physical activities, for example, playing all kinds of balls, running, and so on. Only in this way can we have enough energy to face the challenges before us.
My favorite sport is running. You know, running is an easy activity that benefits us a lot. Firstly, it is good for my health. Secondly, running can make me relaxed some time when I’m busy preparing my entrance exams.
Besides, while running around on the playground, I can enjoy the sunshine and breathe the fresh air. During the exercise, I can completely let free myself and after it, I can leisurely continue my study.
    Looking forward to your reply.
    Yours,
    Li Hua

Just then I found Riley come in with an ice pack in his hand. From his look, I could easily read his concern, which instantly brought tears to my eyes. He asked if my ankle swelled, his voice obviously full of care and anxiety. I nodded helplessly, eyes automatically settling on my aching ankle. Handing me the ice pack, he told me it could help relieve the pain and reduce swelling at the early stage. So moved was I that I extended my heartfelt gratitude to him. He just smiled, saying that we were good friends and offering to send me home.
As we went out, we were surprised to find Austin holding some medicinal oil. “I usually use this kind of oil when I get hurt and it does work. You can have a try.” he said with sincerity. All of a sudden, I felt I was the happiest person in the world. I hugged my friends tightly, joyful tears rolling in my eyes. Blessed with such friends, I felt I had so much to be grateful for. Joking about my basketball skill, they sent me home.
