It may be the best of times for the Chinese parents—and the worst of times for young video game players. On Monday, the government officially limited(限制) the weekly time a student can spend on video games.
According to the official notice, companies can only offer services to teenagers for one hour between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and other public holidays.
The move made many adults happy online and off.
Research showed that youths who lost themselves in video games can play as much as 10 hours a day, and many have no interest in studies or playing with others in real life.
What’s more, too much screen time at a close distance can cause myopia(近视). This can also make students not sleep well. Too much screen time may also make students become fat.
While there are good sides of video games, it might be important to remember bad habits have to start somewhere. And young children should learn to control themselves and manage(管理) their time.
The move sounds a little hard to kids. But as the Chinese saying goes, good advice doesn’t sound nice, and bitter medicine has effective results.
It is, of course, good for kids to develop good habits. But regulations(法规) are only one piece of the problem. Parents and teachers’ help is also very important. They should suggest more healthy activities that can develop the youth’s love for real life—in the real world.
37.How many days can’t students play video games in a week usually?
    A.Two. B.Three. C.Four. D.Five
38.What does the writer want to express in Paragraph 7?
A.The time limit is surely helpful for students.
B.The time limit is a sad thing for students.
C.There’re no better ways to solve the problem.
D.Keep the good habit and you will make success.
39.Why does the government limit the time a student can spend on video games?
A.To protect the healthy development of students.
B.To make parents feel more relaxed.
C.To improve students’ interest in study.
D.To improve the relationship between students and parents.
40.How should parents or teachers help students develop good habits according to the writer?
A.They should give more homework to students.
B.They should play with students for longer time.
C.They should lead students to join in some healthy activities.
D.They should tell students more about the bad sides of playing video games.

Why do people work so many hours? Some people work extra hours because they want to make more money. However, many companies don’t pay overtime. Their workers don’t get more pay for more work. Do you know Black Friday? It is the day following Thanksgiving Day (the fourth Thursday of November) in the United States. People think it means the beginning of the Christmas shopping season in the US, and most stores and shopping malls open very early. Things will be on great sale for people to buy.
Black Friday is not a holiday, but California and some other states(州) in the USA think it as a holiday just for some people who don't work in shops like officers, teachers and students. They can have holidays both on Thanksgiving and on the following Friday. In this way, they make it a four-day weekend, so more people can go shopping during these days. It is the busiest(最繁忙的) shopping day of the whole year in America. Like the Double Eleventh Day in China.
Black Friday first appeared in Philadelphia. People used the word to describe the heavy traffic jam(堵塞) and the most crowded streets on the day after Thanksgiving, because people all went into the shopping malls and shops to buy things they wanted. It brought a lot of trouble to the drivers and policemen. And also on this day, the business could move into "black", and this meant that it helped the shop owners make a lot of money. Almost all cultures celebrate the end of one year and the beginning of another in some way. Different cultures celebrate the beginning of a new year in different ways, and at different times on the calendar.
In Western countries, people usually celebrate New Year at midnight on December 31st to January 1st. People may go to parties, sometimes dressed in formal clothes, and they may drink champagne(香槟)at midnight. During the first minute of the new year, people cheer and wish each other happiness for the year ahead. But some cultures prefer to celebrate the new year by waking up early to watch the sunrise. They welcome the new year with the first light of the sunrise.
Many cultures also do special things to say goodbye to bad luck at the beginning of a new year. For example, in Ecuador, families make a big doll from old clothes and burn it to show the bad things from the past year are gone and the new year can start. Other common traditions to keep away bad luck in a new year include throwing things into rivers or the ocean, or saying special things on the first day of the new year.
Other New Year traditions are followed to bring good luck in the new year. One widespread Spanish tradition for good luck is to eat grapes on New Year’s Day. The more grapes a person eats, the more good luck the person will have in the year. In France, people eat pancakes for good luck at New Year. On the fourth Thursday of every November, Americans gather around the dinner table to celebrate Thanksgiving. Here are four popular Thanksgiving traditions and how they got their start.
A big feast(大餐) is the major event every Thanksgiving. The first Thanksgiving feast was in the autumn of 1621 when the first settles(移民) from England celebrated their first harvest(丰收). But it wasn’t made into an official holiday until 1863. The first feast had turkey, fruit and vegetables, which are still common today.
Giving thanks is what the holiday is all about. The first settlers invited(邀请) Native Americans to the feast to thank them for teaching them how to grow food. Today at the big feast, friends and family will also say what they are most thankful for.
Every year there is a Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, which includes giant balloons that look like cartoon characters and beautiful floats(花车) that carry famous people. There are also many musical performances to watch. This parade started in 1924, and today over 44 million people watch it on TV or in NYC.
American football is something people both watch and play with their family members on Turkey Day. People started to watch football on Thanksgiving a few years after the day became an official holiday. Today, the National Football League takes advantages of this popularity and hosts three NFL games every Thanksgiving.

Sweetest Day is always on the third Saturday in October in America. This holiday is much more important in some regions than in others. Detroit, Cleveland and Buffalo are the biggest cities Sweetest Day cities. It is a holiday that is increasing its popularity (流行程度) every year throughout the country.
Sweetest Day is celebrated to make someone happy. It is a day that offers all of us an opportunity to care about not only the sick, aged and orphaned (孤儿), but also friends, relatives and family.
Over 60 years ago, a Cleveland man, believing that the city’s underprivileged groups (弱势群体) often felt they were forgotten and left out, had the idea of showing them that they were remembered. He did this by giving out small gifts. With the help of his friends and neighbors, he gave out these small gifs on a Saturday in October. During the years that followed, other Clevelanders began to take part in the celebration ceremony, which came to be called “Sweetest Day”. Then the idea of spreading cheer to the underprivileged was spread to everyone. And soon the idea was spread to other cities all over the country.
Sweetest Day is not based on any single group’s religious sentiment (感情) or on a family relationship. It reminds us that a thoughtful word or deed enriches life and gives it meaning.
