3.silence silence 作名词,意为“沉默;缄默;无声”。in silence 意为“沉默;无声”;keep silence 意为“保持沉默”。 例句:After a moment\'s silence, he went on speaking.他沉默了一会儿又继续说了下去。 4.so…that… so…that…意为“如此……以至于……”,that引导结果状语从句 例句:He was so tired that he couldn’t go any farther.他是如此疲劳,以至于他不能再往前走了。 5.hardly hardly否定副词,意为“几乎不;几乎没有”。含有hardly的句子即被视为否定句,其反意疑问句要用肯定式。 例句:The girl was so frightened that she could hardly say a word.那个女孩如此害怕,以至于几乎不能说出一句话来。 He can hardly speak English, can he?他几乎不会说英语,是吗? 【问题探究】 1.我会在那儿待两个月。I’ll stay there for over two months. 2.我相信未来是美好的。I believe the future will be good. 3.沉默是金。 Silence is gold. 4.我如此的困,以至于一上床就睡着了。I was so sleepy that I fell asleep as soon as I lay on the bed. 5.我几乎不在外面吃饭。I hardly eat outside. |
