    A. 回答问题(本题共5小题,每小题2分,共10)

    Where were the lights from?

Things that are strange are happening every minute. The mystery began in September of 1913. A man was fishing at night in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. There was no sound, but suddenly some unusual lights began to appear over Brown Mountain. The man said they were red and round, like a huge ball. They were unlike anything he had seen before. They came back night after night.

He told some friends about what he had seen. The local newspaper also wrote about the story. A government officer was sent to the area to find out the truth. In the end, he decided that what the man and others had seen was nothing more than lights from a train. And that was the end of the unusual story.

But the lights continued to appear after that. Some people said September, October, and November were the best months to see them. Nine years later, a research team came back to the area. As before, they decided that there was no mystery. They said people were seeing train lights, camp fires, or car lights.
