Step 1 Warming up
1. Show a picture of a farm and ask the class: What animals
will you see on a farm? Get the students to discuss the
question and give their answers.
2. Show the class some pictures and review the words about
animals. Ask and answer like this:
A: What’s it?
B: It’s a …
Step 2 Presentation
1. Show several pictures and teach the new words countryside, feed, pick and friendly.
We’re having a picnic in the countryside.
She is feeding the sheep.
The girl is picking apples.
They are very friendly.
2. Teach the new words quickly and moo by asking the students to read them aloud.
Step 3 Listening and answering
Get the class to listen to the dialogue of the lesson and answer the question.
Where are Li Ming and Jack?
Answer: They are on Li Ming’s uncle’s farm.
Step 4 Reading and answering
Get the class to read the dialogue and answer the following questions.
1. What does Li Ming like to do on the farm?
2. What are Li Ming and Jack doing on the farm?
3. What’s Li Ming’s favourite cow’s name?
Answers: 1. He likes to feed the animals and pick vegetables and fruit.
2. They’re feeding the cows.
3. Her name is Niuniu.
Step 5 Reading and filling
Get the students to read the lesson and fill in the blanks. ( Let’s Do It! No.3)

Step 6 Reading and finding
Get the students to read the lesson and find the following phrases, and then translate them into Chinese.

B: It says, “Moo…”
2. Teacher says: What do other animals usually say in English? Do you know?
Ask the students to discuss the question in groups and then give their answers.
3. Get the class to think: What sounds do these animals make in Chinese?

1. And it’s so far from the city. 并且它离城市是那么远。
far from意为“离……远”。
The park is far from here.公园离这儿很远。

(1) far from相当于far away from。
She lives far away from her school.
她住得离学校很远。
(2) ……away from意为“离某地……远”,此时不能再加far。
My home is 3 km away from the city center.
我家离市中心有3千米远。
2. I like to feed the animals and pick vegetables and fruit.
我喜欢喂动物、采摘蔬菜和水果。
(1) like to do sth.意为“喜欢做某事”,与like doing sth.意思相近。
My mother likes to shop.我母亲喜欢购物。
(2) feed此处作及物动词,意为“喂;喂养”。feed sth. to... = feed...on
sth.表示“给……喂养某物”。
Please feed the apples to the monkeys.请给猴子喂苹果。
3. Come on! 来吧!
come on意为“快点;来吧;加油”,可以表示催促、提醒、鼓励等语气。
Come on! You are the best! 加油,你是最棒的!
Come on! It’s time for school. 快点儿,该上学了。
4. Are the animals friendly? 这些动物友好吗?
friendly形容词,意为“友好的;友爱的”,其反义词为unfriendly,意为“不友好的”。
be friendly to sb. 意为“对某人友好”,相当于be kind/ nice to sb.。
Mr. Lin is friendly to us all. 林先生对我们大家都很友好。
All my classmates are friendly to me. 我所有的同班同学都对我很友好。
5. They are eating very quickly. 他们正吃得很快。
quickly副词,意为“快;迅速”,通常在句中作状语修饰动词。
After breakfast, I go to school quickly. 早饭之后,我迅速去上学。

6. sheep 绵羊
sheep可数名词,意为“绵羊”,其单复数形式一样。
