StepⅠ. Warm—up.
1. Greet Ss as usual. At the same time, a student is late for class.
T: As a student, we can’t be late for class. We must be on time. It’s important. We can say “Don’t be late for class next time.”
Ss: Read the sentences after the teacher together.
Step Ⅱ. Presentation
1. Lead-in
Show two pictures. Talk about them and lead-in: It’s very important to follow the rules. Then show more pictures, lead Ss to talk about some school rules using the target language. At the same time, learn some new words. Explain: (1) bring, take. (2) wear, put on, dress
Step Ⅲ. New lesson
1. Listening:
T: Now let’s listen to the tape. After listening, please tell me:
(1) Who are talking? (2) What are they talking about?
S1, S2 answer the questions.
T: Listen again and try to fill in the blank (Show the role-play conversation on the screen.) in your exercise books.
S3: Complete the conversation by reading aloud.
2. Role-play the conversation:
Ss look at 2d, role-play the conversation. Boys: John, Girls: Alice. Then change the roles. After that, lead Ss to conclude the grammar rules from the school rules we have learned, and read them together.
T: Now, please read the conversation aloud in pairs. Pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation. If you have any problems, hands up! I’ll help you. After a while, I’ll ask some pairs to role-play the conversation in front of the Bb.
Ss: ① ② ③ Act out in front of the Bb.
Step Ⅳ.Singing
T: Now, I know you can say, you can listen and you can role—play the conversation very well. Let’s try to find a good way to remember the rules quickly. Let’s sing the rules along with a piece of music as usual. OK? Please follow me. SS: Sing happily.
Step V. Practice
Please write the rules for the school library. You can use “Don’t…, can, can’t, have to, don’t have to ” to make the rules.
SS: Work in groups. Then, report their rules using the target language.
Step Ⅵ. Writing practice
T: I know you can solve some problems using the target language now. Let’s do some wring practice. (Show on the screen)Please work in groups. I’ll invite two of you to share your dream rules in class.
S1, S2 to report theirs in class. The others listen to them carefully, and try to correctly some mistakes they may have.
Step Ⅶ. Summary
T: What do you learn from the class? (Point to the Bb) We’ve learned some imperative sentences and modal verbs. We can use them correctly. We know it’s important to follow the rules. SS read the summary sentences on the screen after the teacher.
