一、教学目标
1. 能够掌握下列词汇和短语:act, show, common, twentieth, describe, society, head teacher, college, novel, name, if, magic, show sth. to sb.等。
2. 能掌握以下重点句型:
The play has three acts and shows the lives of common people in China from the end of the nineteenth century to the middle of the twentieth century.
He wrote many plays, novels and short stories about people’s lives, and was named “the
People’s Artist”.
If you like the Beijing Opera, traditional music or magic shows, you can enjoy them at
the teahouse.
3. 能够读懂以介绍著名作家老舍,其作品《茶馆》和北京老舍茶馆为主要内容的文章。
4. 能够通过观察短文段落标题以及插图的方式来把握文章大意。
5. 能够通过建立时间轴来表现人物生平,借此把握文章脉络,充分提前细节信息。
6. 能够通过回答表格中的问题,梳理出一部戏剧或电影的主要脉络,并可以连句成文。
7. 培养学生对话剧等中国传统文化的兴趣和热爱。

四、教学过程
Step 1. Warming-up
Look at some pictures and talk about them.
【设计意图】通过展示关于老舍及其作品的图片,调动学生的学习兴趣,自然地导入的本课话题。
Step 2 Pre-reading
1. Read the words in the left column, and then match them with the Chinese meanings in the right column.
2. Check the answers together, and then ask Ss to read the words twice.
【设计意图】学习新词汇,为学生的阅读扫清词汇障碍。
3. Ask Ss to look at the questions and think about the answers.
4. Have Ss work in pairs to ask and answer the questions.
【设计意图】本活动的目的在于激活话题。对几个问题的连续讨论便于学生在阅读课文前就明确本单元文章的主旨,作好主题及语言上的准备。
Step 3 While-reading
1. Read the passage and match the headings with the paragraphs.
【设计意图】训练学生略读快速把握段落信息的能力。
2. Read the passage and choose the correct answer.
3. Read and answer the questions.
4. Complete the timeline with information about Lao She.
【设计意图】训练学生对细节信息的理解及提取主要信息的能力。
Step 4 Post-reading
1. Fill in the blanks and retell the passage.
【设计意图】通过复述文章提高学生的口语表达能力。
2. Learn the language points.
(1) Teahouse is one of Lao She’s most famous plays.
《茶馆》是老舍最著名的剧作之一。
(2) The play has three acts and shows the lives of common people in China from the end of the nineteenth century to the middle of the twentieth century.
这部剧作有三幕,展示了中国普通百姓十九世纪末到二十世纪中期的生活。
(3) He wrote many plays, novels and short stories about people’s lives, and was named “the People’s Artist”.
他写了很多关于人们生活的戏剧、长篇小说和短篇小说,他被誉为“人民艺术家”。
(4) If you like the Beijing Opera, traditional music or magic shows, you can enjoy them at
the teahouse.

(5) Lao She Teahouse gives a warm welcome to everyone from all over the world.
老舍茶馆热烈欢迎来自世界各地的人们。

3. Complete the passage with the words in the box.

4. Ask Ss to look at the questions in the table and write down their answers.
5. Get Ss to write sentences about Teahouse with the information in Activity 5 and the passage in Activity 2 as a help.
6. Let them join their sentences and write passages about Teahouse. T presents some tips first.
7. Get Ss to refer to the column they completed in the table in Activity 5 about their favourite play or film and learn the writing guide.
8. T asks the class to write a passage.
9. Ask some volunteers to share their passages with the whole class.
