Step 1 Warming-up
1. Brainstorming
2. Guessing game.
设计意图:激发学习动机,在游戏中巩固所学知识,同时感知部分新知识。
Step 2 Pre-reading
1. Learn the new words together.
2. Free talk
(1) Do you usually get presents on your birthday?
(2) What kind of presents would you like on your birthday?
设计意图:学习生词和短语,为后面文章的学习减轻压力, 通过话题谈论引入课本主题。
Activity 1
1. Work in pairs. Look at the pictures and choose the birthday presents.
2. T invites some pairs to demonstrate their conversations in front of the whole class.
设计意图:巩固所学新单词,为后面的阅读扫清障碍。
Step 3 While-reading
Activity 2
1. Read the passage and answer the questions.
2. Read the passage again and then match the people with what they like doing.
3. Read for the third time and choose presents for the people in the passage.
Step 4 Post-reading
Fill in the blanks and retell the passage.
Activity 3
1. Ss read the words in the box and make sure they understand them.
2. Ss complete the passage with the correct form of the words from the box.
3. Ss check the answers with their partner. In the end, T and Ss check the answers together.
设计意图:让学生在快读、精读等不同过程、不同的题型中解决不同的问题,从而从整体到细节全面理解文章。
Language points

stay healthy保持健康 stay在这句话的意思是“继续处于某种状态”,是系动词。
2. They sometimes wear T-shirts.
wear意为“穿”,指穿衣的状态。
辨析:wear, put on和dress
2. She spends a lot of money.
spend意为“花费(时间、金钱等);度过”
用法:spend ... (in) doing sth. spend ... on sth.
Activity 4
1. Read through the sentences.
2. Write these sentences with ’ (apostrophe).
3. Check with a partner.
Activity 5
1. Look at Activity 1 and choose birthday presents for their family and friends.
e.g.:
— What present would you like to choose for your father?
— I want to buy him a pair of trainers.
— Why?
— He likes running, so I am going to send him a pair of trainers.
2. T invites some pairs to demonstrate their conversations in front of the whole class.
Activity 6
1. Ask Ss to write a passage about choosing birthday presents for their family and friends. Make sure they use apostrophes (’) and adverbs of frequency correctly.
2. T gives some guidance.
3. Ss exchange their.
