《Is that a pig?》教学设计

Part1. Teaching material 

《Is that a pig?》is from Primary English Book2 for Grade Three students in the second term, and this book is compiled by Beijing Popular Science Press. This lesson’s topic is “animals”, let the Ss to know the animals, and say the Simple dialogue.

The students of Grade 3 have much knowledge of English and information technology. So we can have this lesson in the computer room.

Part2. Teaching objectives

(一)Knowledge objective 

a. The Ss can hear, read and use the words: tiger, deer, rabbit, bear, and elephant.

b. The Ss can hear, read and use the sentences:

-- Is this/that a/ an……?

-- Yes, it is. /No it isn’t.

c. The Ss can sing a song “Old Macdonald has a farm.”

(二) Ability objective

a. To develop Ss’ ability of listening and speaking.

b. To train the Ss’ ability of working in groups.

c. To foster Ss’ abilities of communication and their innovation.

(三) Emotion objective

 By completing the task. The Ss increase their interest and set up self-confidence in language study.

Make the Ss take part in class. Ask and answer in pairs and groups. I’ll use communicative method, discussing method, TPR, seeing and hearing method to teach this lesson.

In order to interest the Ss. I’ll use word cards, stick drawing, pictures and CAI as my teaching aids.

Step1 Warm-up and review

A. Use CAI, revive the words.

B. Use CAI, sing and act the song together “Is that a pig？”.

【设计意图：通过复习动物单词引出课题，而歌曲渲染了英语氛围，并通过歌曲中的句型Is it……?为下面做好铺垫。】

Step2 Presentation

A. Use CAI, show a picture, teach the word “bear”, Write the word “bear” on the blackboard, read the word together. Use CAI, show the phrase, and read the phrase “a bear” together. Then point the picture and ask Ss “Is this/that a bear?” “Yes, it is.” Drill the sentences in pairs. Use CAI, show a picture and ask Ss “Is this/that a bear?” “No, it isn’t.” Drill the sentences in pairs, too.

B. Use CAI, show a picture, teach the word “elephant”, Write the word “elephant” on the blackboard, read the word together. Use CAI, show “an apple, an orange, an egg” to draw out the phrase, and read the phrase “an elephant” together. Then point the picture and ask Ss “Is this/that an elephant?” “Yes, it is.” Drill the sentences in pairs. Use CAI, show a picture and ask Ss “Is this/that an elephant?” “No, it isn’t.” Drill the sentences in pairs, too.

【设计意图：通过多种方式来练习新句型的朗读，改变以往的那种单一的师教生读的教学模式，让学生在不知不觉中熟练掌握新句型，为下一步的句型替换打下坚实的基础。】

C. Use CAI, show pictures “rabbit, tiger, deer”, teach the words, drill the words one by one. Ask Ss to make sentences.

D. Ask Ss to take out English book and look at Lesson3 Let’s learn. Use CAI, listen to the tape.

【设计意图：通过直观的教学模式和猜谜说单词，使新学的单词和句型更容易掌握，让学生在训练中建立自信，激发学生的学习兴趣。】

Step3 Practice

Group-works

A. Use CAI, show some pictures, ask Ss to guess the animal, and ask Ss to say the sentences “Is this/ that a/ an……？Yes, it is./ No, it isn’t.”

B. Use CAI, show some pictures, ask Ss to say “What’s missing?”

ask Ss to say the sentences “Is this/ that a/ an……？Yes, it is./No, it isn’t.”

When the groups done well. I’ll give this group some presents.

【设计意图：利用学生爱玩、好动、对新鲜事物充满好奇心的特征，我设计了两个富有刺激和挑战性的游戏。一改以往枯燥乏味的教学模式，给学生以新鲜感和刺激感，使学生更愿意用新学的句型去说话。】

Step4 Let’s sing

Teach a song “Old Macdonald has a farm”.

A. Tell Ss Old Macdonald has a farm. Let’s go and have a look.

B. I sing the song. Lead Ss to sing the song.

C. Sing the song together.

【设计意图：这虽是一首结束歌，却和本课紧紧相扣，学生都喜欢唱歌。这首歌用欢快的曲调描述了一个有牛、猪、鸭子的热闹的农场，引导学生感知纯正的发音，给学生以多方面的感知，激发学生的学习兴趣。】

Homework:

A. Listen to the tape 5 times.

B. Try to be a little teacher, teach your parents what you learnt

 today.
