本课是人教版《新目标》英语七年级上Unit 9 My favorite subject is science.的第四课时。本单元以School subjects为话题, 运用Talk about preferences 和Give reasons功能,训练学生正确使用Wh-疑问句及回答和正确使用subject, Tuesday... ; favorite subject, How’s your day?...等词汇和常用表达。语音方面:掌握元音字母o和o的字母组合在单词中的常见发音以及用正确语调朗读特殊疑问句和一般疑问句。学习策略方面:进一步学习在听力和阅读过程中捕捉关键词:疑问词、学科名称等的能力。能够通过总结Wh-疑问句的用法,初步培养复习、归纳知识的意识,发展自主学习能力。文化方面:了解中西方中学学制和学科设置的知识;了解星期的小常识。
Section B部分提供了新的语境,拓展了本单元的语言知识和话题内容。2a-2c通过过程性的阅读训练帮助学生进一步巩固所学语言知识。2a复现了学科及描述学科的形容词。2b-2c训练了学生捕捉细节信息的能力。2b要求学生找出Yu Mei喜欢和不喜欢的学科。2c要求学生就信中Yu Mei的日程安排填写表格。阅读语篇将本单元所学内容有机结合起来,以信件形式叙述了一个学生一天中的学习和生活安排。该语篇不仅能让学生感知语言的综合运用,还能为后面3a-3c的语言输出积累相关信息,打好语言基础。
3a-3c是从控制性过渡到开放性的写作输出练习。3a要求学生将一段打乱顺序的短文重新排序,训练了学生对时间和逻辑顺序的把握,以及对信件类文章的整体结构的把握。3b要求学生联系实际填写自己周五的课程安排,这两个练习为3c写电子邮件,介绍自己周五活动安排做了语言和内容上的铺垫。
在Section B的教学中,不仅要让学生完整地写出自己一天的学习和活动安排,还要帮助他们树立合理安排时间、平衡学习和课余爱好的自我管理意识。
前面三个课时对这一单元的主要语法项目和话题进行了学习,这一课时是本册书新课的最后一个课时。在这节课的“What’s your favorite...?”游戏热身环节纳入color(Starter unit 3); sport(unit 5); food(unit 6); clothes(unit 7); month(unit 8) in; subject or day(unit 9); friend(unit 1); family(unit 2)的复习内容。通过学生们喜爱的游戏方式串上这些单元的内容复习,为马上的新课结束后进入期末总复习做一个自然流畅的过渡,做到温故而知新,对于把英语当成主科才四个月的七年级新生来说更容易接受。
学情分析:
七(二)班是个平行班,进校时的英语摸底考试在江岸区排位为19位,全班英语小学基础基本为零,通过四个月的努力,英语成绩和能力提升较快,区排位上升到14位。班级学生初步具备一定英语自主学习能力。因为老师抓得比较紧,学生本册书的基础知识落实较好。并且教师长期坚持全英文教学,尽力为学生营造多的英文语境,大多数学生听说能力较好。但由于小学基础的薄弱及入初中仅四个月,英语语法知识体系还有待完善。

Step I Greeting and Lead in (2mins)
Greet and introduce the lesson: Tell students what they’ll study in this class.
Step II Warming up (5mins)
Play a game of competition to talk about the students’ favorite and give reasons. Tell students the rules of the game :
- All students stand up.
2. Talk about the favorite things or people and give reasons.
3. The student who is right can sit down.
4. The group who sit down the most in 3 minutes is the winner.
Then show the sentence patterns on the screen.

This step aim to review the target language in unit 9 and warm up this lesson.
Step III Read a letter
Pre-reading (7mins)
1. Let students look at 2a and ask them the ideas about the subjects. Then ask
them to write a description word for each subject.
2. Then say to students: “Now let’s see How many words you can come up with?
Please say as many description words about these subjects as you can. Each
group will have 30 seconds.” Then write the number of words for each group
on the board and rank the winner.
While-reading (2mins)
1. Let students understand the meaning of the instruction in 2b. Then let them
listen to the tape carefully and finish the task in 2b.
After-reading (9mins)
1. After listening ask students tell the answers in 2b:
Underlined (likes): science, P.E., Chinese, art lesson
Circled (doesn’t like): math
Note: Yu Mei says she has history at 10:00 a.m. but she does not say if she does
or doesn’t like history.
2. Ask the students to complete Yu Mei’s schedule with the information in 2b. After
filling in the schedule let them check their answers with their partner.
3. Finish a cloze passage with the help of the mind map.
(1) Show a cloze passage on the screen and ask “Can you complete the cloze
passage without looking at your books?” If then can’t, teach them: “ If you
feel it is a little difficult, maybe you can take out your mind map about this
letter you’ve done in your homework yesterday.”
(2) Then let students discuss and choose the best one in their group.
(3) Ask two groups to show their best mind map and explain it to the class.
(4) Show the cloze passage again and say: “ Now try again with the help of the
mind map. Do you feel it easy now? Don’t look at your books.”
(5) Students complete the letter with the help of your mind map one by one.
Step IV Study an e-mail in 3a (4mins)
1.Let students come to activity 3a. Tell them it is an e-mail but it is in wrong
order. Ask them to number these parts of the e-mail message.
2. Because the task is easy, ask the class to say the answer together and read the
e-mail message once together.
3. Answer the questions about the e-mail:
(1) What does the e-mail mainly talk about?
(2) What other details does the e-mail talk about?
(3) What’s the structure of an e-mail?
What are the differences between a letter and an e-mail structures?
4. While their answering, show the structures of an e-mail and a letter on the
screen and point to the place of student’s explanation.

1. Let students write an e-mail about their Friday to their friend.
2. Show the writing attention on the screen:
(1) Be able to make the schedule for Friday clear.

(2) The e-mail structure is correct, with the salutation, body, signature, the
basic elements of the e-mail.
电子邮件格式正确,具备称呼、正文、落款等基本要素。
(3) Spelling and grammar are correct. 拼写和语法正确。
(4) Writing is neat. Punctuation, capitals and small letters are correct.
书写规范,标点、大小写正确。
(5) Write at least 30 words.至少写30词。
3. While their writing, the teacher total the points of PK in teams.
After-writing (3mins)
1. After writing ask a student show and read his or her passage. If there are any
mistakes, let the other students help correct.
2. Show the Sample writing on the screen and tell students the teacher will send
the sample writing to them in their QQ and wechat groups. Ask them to
correct their e-mail again in their homework.
Step VI If time permits, take the self check.
1. Add more words to each column.
2. Complete the questions with what, when, who or why. Then answer the
questions.
Step VII Summary and Homework (2mins)
1. Let students summary today’s class.
2. Assign homework to students
(1) Write from memory the text in 2b with the help of your mind map.

(2) Write the e-mail about your Friday again. Try to make it best.
在练习本上把今天课堂上的电子邮件再修改完善写一遍。
Step VIII Total the points and Emotional education (2mins)
1. Total the points and find out the winner team of the PK today. Ask students to
congratulate them.
