1. Many students ask for advice about how to improve their English.
许多学生寻求关于怎样提高他们的英语水平的建议。

ask sb. sth. 要求某人做某事
Some people find it difficult to ask for help. 有些人觉得很难开口叫别人帮忙。
He asks his teacher for help. 他向他的老师寻求帮助。
The teacher asks Tom (come)earlier. 老师要求汤姆早一点来。
(2)improve 是动词,意为“ ”。
I want to improve my English, especially reading. 我想提高我的英语(水平),尤其是阅读。
【拓展】improvement 是 词,意为“改进;提高”。
(3)how to improve their English是 结构,在句中作about 的宾语。
疑问词how,what,who 等后常接动词不定式(短语),在句中作know,teach,understand,decide 等动词的宾语。
Do you know how (use) the camera? 你知道怎样使用这个相机吗?
We can’t decide what (do) next. 我们不能决定接下来要做什么。
2. Watching films and listening to songs are great ways to learn English!
看电影和听歌曲是学习英语很好的方式!
watching films and listening to songs 是两个并列的动名词短语作主语,此时的谓语动词用
形式;当单个的动名词(短语)作主语时,谓语动词要用 形式。
Playing basketball and skating (be) both my favourite sports.
打篮球和滑冰都是我最喜欢的运动。
Running (be) good for our health. 跑步对我们的健康有好处。
3. Watch and listen several times, and guess the meaning of the new words.
看几遍,听几遍,并猜测生词的意思。
several times 意为“几次”。
“次数”的表达:
一次 两次 三次
He has read the text once. 他已经把这篇课文读过一遍了。
I have been to Beijing twice. 我去过北京两次。
—How many times have you been to Hainan? 你去过海南多少次?—Three times. 三次。
4. I also advise you to talk about the films or songs with your friends.
我还建议你和朋友们谈谈(所看的)电影或(所听的)歌曲。
advise 是 词,意为“向……提出意见;忠告;建议”。advise sb. sth.意为“建议某人做某事”。
She needed someone to advise her. 她需要有个人给她建议。
She advised me (leave) Japan. 她建议我离开日本。
5. It is natural to forget new words! 忘记生词是合乎常情的!
It is+形容词+to do sth.意为“做某事是……的”,it在句中作 ,真正的主语是后面的 。
It is very difficult (finish) the work. 完成这项工作是困难的。
【拓展】It is +形容词+ sb.+to do sth. 对某人来说,做某事是……的。
It is +形容词+ sb.+to do sth. 做某事,某人是……的。
注意:该句式中,如果形容词是描述事物特征的词,如easy, hard, difficult, necessary等,用介词for;如果形容词是描述人物性格、品质的词,如kind, nice, clever等,用介词of。
It’s easy us to learn English well. 对我们来说,学好英语是容易的。
It’s kind you to give me some advice. 你给我一些建议真是太好了。
6. I suggest you write four or five words a day on pieces of paper and place them in your room.
我建议你每天把四五个单词写在纸片上,并把它们放在你的房间里。
suggest是动词,意为“ ”。
① suggest sth. (to sb.) (向某人)建议某事
What do you suggest? 你建议什么?
She suggested an early start to me. 她建议我早点儿开始。
② suggest sth. 建议做某事
Tony suggested (go)out for a walk. 托尼建议去散步。
③ suggest + (that) 从句 建议……
I suggested that you stay here. 我建议你待在这儿。
【拓展】suggest的名词形式是 。
注意:advice和suggestion都有“建议”的意思,但是advice是 名词,suggestion是 名词。
