动词

①跟随；紧跟

follow sb. to do sth. 跟着某人做某事

②领会；听懂

☞I can’t follow your words. 我听不懂你说的话。

【知识点2】fall

①不及物动词，下落。

☞She fell down and hurt her leg yesterday. 昨天她摔倒并弄伤了腿。

②连系动词，进入，后可接asleep，ill等形容词作表语。

☞One after another, all of them fell asleep. 他们所有的人一个接一个地睡着了。

③名词，秋天。

☞I go on holiday in the fall. 我在秋季休假。

【辨析】fall down与fall over

都有摔倒的意思，但是含义不同。

①fall down 强调的是滑倒，倒下，后接宾语时应加上from。

☞If people run across the road, they may fall down. 如果人们跑过马路的话，他们可能会摔倒。

②fall over

强调的是向前摔倒。

☞She fell over and broke her leg. 她跌倒并把腿摔断了。

3. It was sitting in a tree and smiling at everyone. 它正坐在一棵树上，朝大家微笑。

【辨析】in a tree与on a tree

☞The monkey is in a tree. 那只猴子在树上。

There are some peaches on a tree. 树上有一些桃子。

4.Everyone in Britain knows the story. 在英国，人人都知道这个故事。

表达整体概念，与everybody意思相同。
