1.used to的相似结构辨析：

used to do sth.过去常常做某事,只用于过去.

be used to doing sth.习惯于做某事,用于过去、现在、将来等多种时态。

be used to do sth.被用于做某事,用于多种时态

2.take up (doing) sth. 意为“开始做某事”

My sister wants to take up the job as a teacher.

【拓展】take up 还可意为“占据（空间)”；“占用（时间）”。

The new fridge takes up too much room.

Computer games take up too much of his time.

3.deal with 意为“应付；处理”

They could properly deal with all kinds of situations.

【辨析】deal with与do with

我不知道他们如何处理这个问题。

I don’t know how they deal with the problem.

deal with与how搭配使用。

I don’t know what they do with the problem.

do with与what 搭配使用。

4.As she got better, she dared to sing in front of her class, and then for the whole school.

dare to do sth. 意为“敢于做某事”，其中to有时可以省略（尤其是在否定句或疑问句中）。

5.require v. 需要； 要求

require sth. 需要某物

The teacher required Tom to keep quiet.

require + that从句（从句的谓语动词用“should + 动词原形”，should可以省略）

6.辨析：a number of与the number of

a number of意为“许多；大量”，后面接可数名词复数。作主语时谓语动词用复数。

A small number of children are educated at home.少数孩子在家接受教育。

 the number of意为“……的数量”，后接可数名词复数。作主语时谓语动词用单数。

 The number of the students in our class is 40. 我们班学生的人数是40。
