Teaching AidA projector八.Teaching procedures: Step 1 Lead-inEnjoy a song: I Wonder.Step 2 Revision Review some phrases in 3a and ask some questions about 3a.Step 3 Grammar Focus This part is designed to review the grammar learned in this unit.1.Have a student read the sentences in the grammar box to the class and circle the words: used to…, didn’t use to…,Did …use to…? Didn’t you?2.Read the sentences with “used to be” underlined.3.Explanations about “used to + 动词原形”Step 4 Explanations1.Call students’ attention to the notes below, and ask students to understand the rules in these sentences. When we write statements , we use the words used to. When we write questions, we use the words did+use to. When we answer the question with used to, we use did or didn’t.2.The negative forms and questioned forms of “used to do”, and some examples about “used to do”.3. Explain the disjunctive question with some examples.4. Show Ss the comparison of “be/get used to doing” and “be used to do sth.” with some examples.Step 5 Practice1. Show Ss some comparisons pictures and ask them to make sentences by using “used to”.2. Complete sentences with correct words.Step 6 Finish 4a This activity aims to help students to consolidate the positive form and negative form of used to. Lead students to read the sample sentences to know how to do this activity. Then give students three minutes to rewrite the questions. Ask them to do it individually. Later, invite three students to present his or her sentences to check the answers. Correct mistakes if any.Step 7 Finish 4b First ,lead students to have a quick look at the instruction and the sample sentences to know what to do in this activity and how to do it. Invite a student to read the sample sentences. Then give students several minutes to do this work.. As they work ,move around the room checking the process. Finally ,invite three students to present their work on the blackboard to check the answers.Step 8 Consolidation Teach activity 4c. This part is designed to provide students oral practice to talk about their past and now. Call students’ attention to the chart and read the instruction to the class. Lead students to have a look at the things listed in the chart. Ask a student to give an example to talk about the changes from his or her experience. Then ask the other students to do the same task.. Work in pairs to talk about each other’s changes, at the same time ,check the chart with the information they talk about. Finally ,invite several pairs to act out for the class.Step 9 Summary In this period, we’ve learned how to use the structure used to to talk about one’s habits or hobbies in the past and now through some practice.Step 10 Homework1.More exercises about the grammar focus.2.Preview the next period.
