1. Lead in
大屏幕展示明星的对比照片,引导学生们来描述她的变化。

Today we will review the sentence pattern “ used to do…”
T: Explain the use of “used to do/be …” to the Ss.
used to表示“过去常常;以前常常”,指过去常常做某事,而现在不这样做了。used to无人称和数的变化,to后接动词原形。
1).肯定句的句式结构:
主语+used to+do…
♦I used to get up at six.我过去常在6点起床。
♦It used to be a quiet village.它过去是一个安静的村庄。
2).否定句的句式结构:
主语+usedn’t/used not/didn’t use to+do…
♦He usedn’t to study hard.
=He used not to study hard.
=He didn’t use to study hard.他过去学习不努力。
3).一般疑问句及其答语的句式结构:
(1)—Used+主语+to do…?
—Yes,主语+used to./No,主语+usedn’t to.
(2)—Did+主语+use+to do…?
—Yes,主语+did./No,主语+didn’t.
♦Used he to go to school on foot?
=Did he use to go to school on foot?他过去常常步行去上学吗?
4).反意疑问句的句式结构:
(1)肯定句+didn’t /usedn’t +主语
♦He used to be very rich,didn’t/usedn’t he?他过去非常富有,是不是?
(2)否定句+did/used+主语
♦He didn’t use to smoke,did he?
=He usedn’t to smoke,used he?他过去不常吸烟,是吗?
(二)used to和be/get used to的区别
used to表示过去常常做某事或过去存在的状态,to后接动词原形;而be/get used to则表示“习惯于某事”,to为介词,后面接名词、代词或动名词。
♦I used to hate animals,but now I am/get used to looking after them.
我过去讨厌动物,但现在我习惯了照顾它们。
be used to do…意为“被用来做……”,此结构是被动结构,to为不定式符号。
♦A pen is used to write.钢笔被用来写字。

1. I used to be afraid of the dark.
used to do sth. 过去常常做某事
表示过去经常性或习惯性的动作或状态,暗指现在已经不存了,强调过去与现在的对比。
used to的否定形式有两种:didn’t use to或usedn’t to。
used to用于疑问句时,可借助助动词did,也可以将used提到主语前。
e.g. They used to be good friends. 他们过去是好朋友。 (暗示现在不是了)

一、used to 的用法

My life has changed a lot in the last few years. I used to be overweight but I’m not anymore. I lost a lot of weight after I started playing tennis. Playing tennis three times a week is very good exercise. Now I’m fitter and healthier.
The biggest change in my life was becoming much better in English. This is thanks to my English teacher, Mrs. Wong, who gave me an interesting book to read.
